Most of the Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs) in Tanzania have adopted the use of IS in providing service to their customers. Nevertheless, there is less evidence that system success evaluation has been done in order to identify the desired characteristics which could make IS more effective. Due to that, this study evaluates the effectiveness of Student Information System (SIS) used at the Institute of Finance Management using DeLone and McLean’s Model. Convenience sampling technique was employed to select respondents from the Institute of Finance Management. A total of 391 complete and valid questionnaires were employed in data analysis. IBM SPSS software was used to analyze the hypothesized relationships between the variables. The findings show that system quality, information quality, service quality, system use and user satisfaction are the key desired characteristics in making SIS success. The study has provided implications to Researchers and practitioners on how to improve the effectiveness of the IS used in Higher Learning Institutions based on the desired characteristics.","PeriodicalId":55883,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Information Technology and Management","volume":"19 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80110025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Good data management requires an effective approach to collecting, storing, and accessing data across the enterprise. In this paper, a knowledge modeling approach to data management is introduced with an emphasis on data requirements analysis. A knowledge model can provide a high-level view of organizational data by specifying the structure and relationships of the knowledge contents used in business processes. The proposed knowledge modeling approach is business process oriented and decision oriented. The description of the knowledge contents in the model is based on ontological specification. The model is comprised of five elements: work product, work unit, producer, stage, and modeling language. The elements of the model and the modeling process are elaborated. The proposed modeling approach is applied to the vessel chartering process in a shipping company to demonstrate its application in real-world practices.","PeriodicalId":55883,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Information Technology and Management","volume":"58 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84977010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is due to the demand if ICT technicalities in performing several basic activities in the workplaces. Majority of studies which concentrate on ICT skills on employability deals with technical enterprises. In non-technical companies such as construction, manufacturing and agriculture, ICT is studied as among the basic skill-set of graduates. However, recently, there has been a special demand for graduates with basic ICT knowledge of recruitment processes. This indicates the growing demand for basic ICT skills among a broad range of professions. However, the type of basic ICT skills required for work is not clear. This study aims to explore and understand the type of ICT skill needed, the significance of each ICT skills on employability and the way of identifying the best graduate based on ICT. This study uses Value-Focused Thinking (VFT) to understand and identifying the possible ways of managing ICT skills on employability. VFT uses in-depth interviews will be conducted to identify the fundamental and intermediate concerns regarding ICT skills on the employability of graduates. This study explored five main fundamental issues which have to be handled effectively by the stakeholders to make sure that ICT graduates are more employable within the SMEs.","PeriodicalId":55883,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Information Technology and Management","volume":"252 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75808758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We show empirical evidence that high-rank social media users displaying high-level badges earned from the social media tend to provide low-quality information due to reduced incentives after obtaining the badge and increased tendency to engage in less informative socialization activities. In contrast, low-rank social media users with low-level badges tend to provide high-quality information. However, messages shared by high-rank social media users spill over to other cryptocurrency markets more easily because of higher visibility in the online community.","PeriodicalId":55883,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Information Technology and Management","volume":"34 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78936293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent years, machine learning techniques have increasingly been examined to assess whether they can improve market forecasting when compared with traditional approaches. The objective for this study is to identify directions for future machine learning stock market prediction research based upon a review of current literature. A systematic literature review methodology is used to identify relevant peer-reviewed journal articles from the past twenty years and categorize studies that have similar methods and contexts. Four categories emerge: artificial neural network studies, support vector machine studies, studies using genetic algorithms combined with other techniques, and studies using hybrid or other artificial intelligence approaches. Studies in each category are reviewed to identify common findings, unique findings, limitations, and areas that need further investigation. The final section provides overall conclusions and directions for future research.","PeriodicalId":55883,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Information Technology and Management","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88511407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mobile phones provide opportunities for employees of organisations to work at anytime and anywhere. SMEs comprise of employees who perform multitasking job roles due to their small in size and low financial capabilities and most cases, some of them work remotely from their main offices. Self-Efficacy is a belief that the user has enough skills to use technology to perform a task at hand. This is one of the factors influencing of acceptance of technologies at the workplaces such as SMEs. However, while the majority of studies have explored the influence of self-efficacy in desktop-based computing, it is unclear on the context of mobile phone usage, especially when individuals perform their work obligations within SMEs. This study involves a survey of 459 people who work with their small businesses in Tanzania. Among others, the Mobile Phone Self-Efficacy was found to be among the factors which directly influence the Perceived Ease of Use of mobile phone technology as they perform their duties.","PeriodicalId":55883,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Information Technology and Management","volume":"32 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78416288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this digital era, with the advent of various technologies, healthcare is undergoing a massive transformation. This study attempts to analyze the impacts of three major digital technologies which are being adopted in the healthcare sector which are electronic medical records (EMR), enterprise resource planning (ERP) and internet-of-things (IoT) enabled medical wearables in the hospital context. Focusing towards analyzing the impact of these technologies towards process-integration and further towards dynamic capabilities like quality, agility and responsiveness; the study framework is well-grounded by two theoretical-underpinnings Cybernetic Control theory and Dynamic Capability theory. Questionnaire has been finalized through extant literature review and focused-group-discussion. Empirical investigation has been done with a sample of 154 hospital respondents from four major metro cities from the private tertiarycare hospitals in India. The empirical analysis of the framework is carried out by exploratory-factor-analysis, confirmatory-factor-analysis and structural-equationmodelling. The study outcomes highlight linkages both from technologies to process-integration and further towards dynamic capabilities. This study uniformly Journal of International Technology and Information Management Volume 28, Number 4 ©International Information Management Association, Inc. 2017 85 ISSN: 1941-6679-On-line Copy analyzes the impacts of the aforementioned digital technologies across Indian private hospitals thereby providing the hospital managers with a framework, influencing superior dynamic capabilities and achieving a competitive edge.","PeriodicalId":55883,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Information Technology and Management","volume":"04 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72712449","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
