Against this backdrop, this study examined the impact of electricity on the performance of SMEs in Ado-Odo, Ota LGA, Ogun State. Consequently, the questionnaires were administered to the respondents using the method of purposive sampling. The data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS), variance analysis (ANOVA) and Correlations and Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) techniques. A total of 120 questionnaires were distributed, of which 90 were compiled and analyzed. The findings showed that there is significant impact of electricity supply on the performance of SMEs in Ado-Odo Ota Area, in Ogun State. Also, alternative power sources have significant impact on performance of SME in Ado-Odo Ota Area, in Ogun State. Therefore, by and large, from the findings of this study, the paper made the following recommendation for the policymakers and business owners in Ado-Odo, Ota Area of Ogun State in particular, and Nigeria by extension that sufficient supply of electricity should be placed in a place that maximizes the efficiency of small and medium-sized businesses. In the same vein, SMEs owners should strive to use alternative sources of power to boost the performance of SMEs, and meet their market objectives.","PeriodicalId":55648,"journal":{"name":"Economic Insights Trends and Challenges","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89497183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Yet much evidence suggests the skills mismatch and hiring talent is of great concern to employers around the globe. When it comes to ‘hard’ data with reference to employability skills in the Tanzanian context, there is a dearth of empirically verifiable statistics from an academic standpoint. The study takes up this challenge to investigate perceptions of 314 graduates on the role of university education in preparing them for the world of employment. Findings have shown a different perspective regarding the quality and employability of Tanzanian graduates. Graduates were appreciative of their university education and were confident that they can meet the requirements of the labour market. However, they acknowledged their theoretical knowledge has little value until they can apply it for practical purposes thus implying their participation in society and ability to cope with changes and recover from problems and challenges brought about by the world of work will be limited. The study urges Tanzania to cautiously devise and execute a plan for developing skills for employability within the education system and ultimately build world class-education systems which will enhance employment prospects for graduates.","PeriodicalId":55648,"journal":{"name":"Economic Insights Trends and Challenges","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78623683","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The increase of the interest of foreign investors for strategic, sensitive sectors of the economy of the member countries determined, after 2017, a change in the philosophy of establishing and applying the Union's investment policy, materialized in the more precise definition of \"foreign investor\" and in implementing a more rigorous mechanism of control of foreign direct investment. Further on are presented the main effects of foreign investment in the Community economy, resulting from empirical studies on this topic, the conclusions reached by these studies being sometimes divergent.","PeriodicalId":55648,"journal":{"name":"Economic Insights Trends and Challenges","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80397558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, the study analyses primary data collected from randomly selected 250 graduated students of different educational institutions in Rajshahi city by applying two-fold approaches, such as descriptive statistics, and logistic regression analysis. The descriptive statistics approach finds the rate of unemployment among educated youths in the city is 59.2% and the mean duration of unemployment is 2.5 years. The logistic regression results find that the probability of being unemployed will be decreased if the educated youths are migrated to Dhaka city, have internet access, and are connected with social network but if they have job preferences, the probability of being unemployment will be increased. Therefore, institutional facilities, job related trainings, and the development of service sector in Rajshahi city can be crucial solution of the problem.","PeriodicalId":55648,"journal":{"name":"Economic Insights Trends and Challenges","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87935963","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We used Auto-regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) to analyse the data employed in this study. From our findings, it was revealed that output per head had a positive and significant impact on carbon emission both in the long-run and short-run, while subsidy which explains government policy also had a negative and significant impact on carbon emission both in the short-run and long-run. The Error Correction Model (ECM) showed that 96% of shocks in the response variable are corrected in the long-run by the independent variables. It was concluded that increasing output in the economy increases the amount of carbon emission in the economy while removal of fuel subsidy reduces the amount of carbon emission in the economy. Therefore, effective policies should be implemented towards reducing carbon emission without hampering the growth of the economy.","PeriodicalId":55648,"journal":{"name":"Economic Insights Trends and Challenges","volume":"41 2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79905614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
