That has had a negative psychological impact. This study aims to determine whether the relationship between resilient coping and depression is mediated by emotional intelligence. An online questionnaire was applied to 179 participants. A mediation analysis was conducted. The results reveal a more significant number of depressive symptoms in women than in men and higher levels of resilient coping in men. Younger participants showed more depressive symptoms than the rest of the analysed population. Finally, the results suggest that emotional intelligence might mediate the relationship between resilient coping and depression, particularly in the emotional clarity dimension. Conclusions: the skills involved in emotional intelligence, especially emotional clarity, may optimize the use of resilient coping strategies to face adversity.RESUMENLa pandemia de COVID-19 supuso un confinamiento domiciliario de tres meses en España. Esto tuvo consecuencias psicológicas negativas. Este estudio pretende determinar si la relación entre el Afrontamiento Resiliente y la Depresión está mediada por la Inteligencia Emocional. Se aplicó un cuestionario online a 179 participantes y se llevó a cabo un análisis de mediación. Los resultados muestran un número más significativo de síntomas depresivos en las mujeres que en los hombres y niveles más altos de Afrontamiento Resiliente en los hombres. Los participantes más jóvenes mostraron más síntomas depresivos que el resto de la población analizada. Finalmente, los resultados sugieren que la Inteligencia Emocional podría mediar en la relación entre Afrontamiento Resiliente y Depresión, particularmente en la dimensión Claridad Emocional. This research study aims to explore the impact of ABIs on employability, and their potential to reduce individual and family income. Method: Using data from the II National Survey on Disability, a cohort of 9,835 individuals aged 18 to 65 was chosen. Subsequently, a sample of 110 ABI-affected individuals was selected, employing propensity score matching to ensure equivalence with a control group of healthy subjects (n = 110). Results: The study found that the presence of ABI and disability decreases the likelihood of employment and labour force engagement. These differences persist even after accounting for covariate effects. However, no conclusive predictive association was established regarding individual and family income levels, despite observed disparities across the analysed groups. Discussion: The obtained findings can contribute to raising awareness regarding the general employment situation of individuals with ABI, and facilitate policy-making in the context of inclusion and vocational rehabilitation initiatives.RESUMENAntecedentes: Las Lesiones Cerebrales Adquiridas (LCA) constituyen patologías que pueden disminuir la participación laboral y los ingresos económicos. El estudio busca examinar si las LCA afectan las posibilidades de tener empleo y disminuyen los ingresos individuales y familiares. Método: Se utilizaron datos de la II Encuesta Nacional de Discapacidad. Se seleccionó una muestra de 9,835 personas entre 18–65 años. Posteriormente, se seleccionó una muestra de 110 personas afectadas por una LCA y muestra control de sujetos sanos (n = 110) mediante pareamiento por puntaje de propensión. Resultados: Se encontró que tener una LCA y la discapacidad disminuye las posibilidades de tener empleo y participar laboralmente. Las diferencias también se observan al controlar la influencia de covariables. No se encontró asociación predictiva respecto a los niveles de ingresos individuales y familiares, aún cuando se observan brechas respecto a los grupos. Discusión: Los hallazgos encontrados pueden ayudar a visibilizar la situación laboral de personas con LCA, así como fomentar el desarrollo de políticas en materias de inclusión y rehabilitación vocacional.KEYWORDS: employment statusemploymentlabour marketeconomic incomeindirect costsacquired brain injurydisabilityPALABRAS CLAVE: situación laboralempleomercado laboralingresos económicoscostos indirectoslesión cerebral adquiridadiscapacidad Acknowledgements / AgradecimientosNational Agency for Research and Development (ANID) and Universidad Diego Portales, Doctoral Programme in Psychology. / Agencia Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo (ANID) y Universidad Diego Portales, Programa de Doctorado en Psicología.Disclosure statement / Conflicto de interesesNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the authors. / Los autores no han referido ningún pot","PeriodicalId":55642,"journal":{"name":"Estudios De Psicologia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135480258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current consensus model of EFs comprises three components: working memory, inhibitory control and cognitive flexibility. The present study sought to evaluate differences in task performance assessing EFs when subjects are confronted with a social stress paradigm related to the ‘white coat phenomenon’. It involved 40 Chilean university students, mean age 21.8 years, who were randomly assigned to one of two conditions: in the presence of social stress (treatment) or in the absence of social stress (control). The results showed a partial impact of the white coat phenomenon, with statistically significant differences at p ≤ .05, when comparing both conditions in relation to the tasks that evaluated inhibitory control and cognitive flexibility, with both tasks presenting a higher speed of response in the experimental condition of social stress, with the accuracy of the responses being unaffected.RESUMENLas Funciones Ejecutivas (FEs) corresponden a un constructo general de habilidades cognitivas orientadas a optimizar la resolución de problemas y regular la conducta de forma eficaz y eficiente. El modelo actual de FEs de mayor consenso comprende tres componentes: Memoria de trabajo, Control Inhibitorio y Flexibilidad Cognitiva. La presente investigación buscó evaluar las diferencias en el desempeño de tareas que evalúan FEs cuando los sujetos son enfrentados a una situación de estrés social relacionada al ‘fenómeno del delantal blanco’. En ella participaron 40 estudiantes universitarios chilenos, con media de 21,8 años, quienes fueron asignados al azar a una de dos condiciones: en presencia de estrés social (tratamiento), o bien, en ausencia de estrés social (control). The Studyholism Inventory (SI-10) and the Studyholism Inventory — Extended Version (SI-15) are the instruments for its evaluation. We aimed to validate their Spanish translations and to define the SI-10 cut-off scores to screen the following types of student: engaged studyholic, disengaged studyholic, engaged student and detached student. We conducted Confirmatory Factor Analysis, convergent, divergent and concurrent validity analyses on 390 college students (Mage = 30.34 ± 10.59). We found that the SI-10 and the SI-15 hold the factor structure and the good psychometric properties of the original versions. Also, the SI-10 cut-off scores for high and low Studyholism/Study Engagement arose as the same used for Italian students. In education, it is postulated that attention and academic performance could explain reading outcomes. The main goal of this research was to study the predictive capacity of an ANN with a backpropagation algorithm by analysing the relationship between sentence and text reading comprehension efficiency, attentional variables and academic performance in third-grade primary school students (N = 183). A non-experimental approach was adopted, using a cross-sectional and ex post facto design. Ten schools (70% public) located in southeastern Spain participated. Test of Reading Efficacy (TECLE), d2 attention test and TALE-2000 were administered. The results revealed that it is possible to design a network capable of learning by itself to predict sentence comprehension. Students who were good readers obtained better grades, concentrated better, scanned the stimulus more attentively, obtained more correct answers and made fewer omissions. The conclusions concerned the ethical implications of AI and the need to introduce ANNs in initial teacher training.RESUMENLas redes neuronales artificiales (RNA) son un campo emergente con perspectivas positivas y alentadoras. En educación, se postula que la atención y el rendimiento académico podrían explicar los resultados de la lectura. El objetivo principal de esta investigación fue estudiar la capacidad predictiva de una RNA con un algoritmo de retropropagación a través del análisis de la relación entre la eficacia en la comprensión lectora de frases y textos, las variables atencionales y el rendimiento académico en alumnos de 3° de primaria (N = 183). Participaron 10 colegios (70% públicos) situados en el sureste de España, a los que se administró el Test de Eficacia Lectora (TECLE), el test de atención d2 y el TALE-2000. Los resultados revelaron que es posible diseñar una red capaz de aprender por sí misma para predecir la comprensión de frases. Los estudiantes que eran buenos lectores obtenían mejores notas, se concentraban mejor, escaneaban el estímulo con más atención, obtenían más respuestas correctas y cometían menos omisiones. Las conclusiones se referían a las implicaciones éticas de la IA y a la necesidad de introducir las RNA en la formación inicial del profesorado.KEYWORDS: artificial intelligenceattentioneducational psychologyreading comprehensionsentence comprehensionPALABRAS CLAVE: inteligencia artificialatenciónpsicología educativacomprensión lectoracomprensión de frases Disclosure statement / Conflicto de interesesNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the authors. / Los autores no han referido ningún potencial conflicto de interés en relación con este artículo.","PeriodicalId":55642,"journal":{"name":"Estudios De Psicologia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135636679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, it also investigated the conditional role of Islamic work ethics in the above relationships. For testing the hypotheses, data from 161 engineers and their respective managers were collected using a time-lagged approach from various organizations in Pakistan. Further, a structural equation modelling technique was utilized for testing the proposed relationships. The findings suggested a positive impact of challenge and hindrance stressors on employees’ burnout. Moreover, challenge and hindrance stressors were found to have a negative impact on employees’ creativity. Finally, the results supported a conditional role of Islamic work ethics in the relationships of challenge stressors with creativity and job burnout. While existing literature has focused on the work-related outcomes of workplace stressors, this research has simultaneously incorporated the role of work and non-work factors. Finally, the integration of Islamic work ethics provided a novel perspective for understanding how employees’ values and beliefs facilitate effectively managing their behavioural and attitudinal outcomes, particularly under stressful circumstances.RESUMENDesde el enfoque de la teoría de intercambio social, este estudio explora el impacto de los estresores laborales en la creatividad y el agotamiento laboral de los ingenieros. Asimismo, se investiga el rol condicionante de la ética laboral islámica en esas relaciones. Para probar las hipótesis, se recabaron datos de 161 ingenieros de diversas organizaciones empresariales en Pakistán y de sus respectivos superiores aplicando un enfoque escalonado en el tiempo (time-lagged). También se aplicó la técnica de modelos de ecuaciones estructurales para probar las relaciones propuestas. Los resultados sugieren un impacto positivo de los estresores desafío-obstáculo en el agotamiento de los trabajadores. Además, se comprobó que este tipo de estresores tienen un impacto negativo en la creatividad de los trabajadores. Por último, los resultados corroboran el rol condicionante de la ética laboral musulmana en la relación de los estresores obstáculo con la creatividad y el agotamiento laboral. Mientras que la literatura existente se centra en los resultados laborales de los estresores en el puesto de trabajo, esta investigación incorpora simultáneamente el papel de factores laborales y no laborales. En definitiva, la integración de la ética laboral islámica ofrece una perspectiva novedosa para comprender cómo los valores y las creencias facilitan una gestión eficaz de los resultados conductuales y actitudinales, especialmente en circunstancias de estrés.KEYWORDS: burnoutchallenge stressorscreativityIslamic work ethicshindrance stressorsPALABRAS CLAVE: agotamiento laboralestresores desafíocreatividadética laboral islámicaestresores obstáculo Data availability statement / Declar","PeriodicalId":55642,"journal":{"name":"Estudios De Psicologia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135813319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was self-report- and questionnaire-based (N = 212), performed on the general public (aged from 18 to 65). Moral foundations clustered into four groups: Individualizing, Binding, Anti-Individualizing and Generally Moral. The endorsement of Individualizing values (Harm/Care, Fairness/Reciprocity) was linked to higher FCV and higher rating of the effectiveness of COVID-19 preventive measures. Endorsing Binding values (Ingroup/Loyalty, Authority/Respect and Purity/Sanctity) was related to lower tolerance of ambiguity and displaying higher conspiracy beliefs. Findings are discussed in the light of their meaning of values for socially responsible behaviour during a pandemic.","PeriodicalId":55642,"journal":{"name":"Estudios De Psicologia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135608944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While most of the above literature is based on all employees, this article has focused on a distinct group, i.e., young performing employees in organizations and how these individuals are likely to be intensely envied by existing co-workers. To test the proposed model, data were collected from 153 managerial-level employees and structural equation modelling was conducted using the Smart PLS software. The findings suggested that persistent exposure to intentionally created hindrance stressors encourages young performers to engage in deviant behaviour. The intervening role of workplace ostracism and emotional exhaustion was found to be significant in the negative process. Regarding the positive change process, findings suggested that strong leader member exchange is likely to facilitate young performers to see positive prospects of the hindrance stressors and develop harmonious passion among them.","PeriodicalId":55642,"journal":{"name":"Estudios De Psicologia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135655525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A Lietarature Review. This paper provides a review of recent research using implicit attitudes models in Environmental Psychology. Twenty-five studies published between 2004 and 2017 were analyzed. They cover the following topics: (a) pro-environmental behaviors, (b) preferences for natural vs built environments, (c) connection with nature, and (d) changes in implicit attitudes. Overall, the results illustrate the potential of implicit attitudes models and methods in the area of Environmental Psychology. Moderate to null correlations between implicit attitudes and pro-environmental behaviors are observed. Low correlations are reported between implicit and explicit attitudes, although the relationship varies as a function of the object. No correlations between different implicit measures are found. Some studies demonstrate that it is possible to change implicit attitudes. Strengths and limitations of current research are discussed.","PeriodicalId":55642,"journal":{"name":"Estudios De Psicologia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77013553","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
