Africa, are reviewed. A further new species, of Gymnosiphon Blume (Burmanniaceae), G. fonensis Cheek, sp. nov. is formally described from the Forêt Classée de Pic de Fon, Simandou Range, Guinée-Forestière. The new species was formerly confused with and resembles G. bekensis Letouzey of central Africa in the broad flat outer tepal lobes, perianth tube >10 mm long, and (sub) sessile flower. It differs e.g. in that the length of the corolla tube, (13-)14-18 mm, exceeds the corolla diameter (10-11 mm) (vs length of the corolla tube (12 mm) < the corolla diameter (12-15 mm)), the anthers inserted c. 4 mm deep in the corolla tube (vs inserted at the corolla mouth) and the rhizome lacks scale-leaves (vs scale leaves present). Gymnosiphon fonensis Cheek, sp. nov. is the first known species of its genus and family in which secondary pollen presentation (on the style head) has been recorded. The species is known from five sites, all with threats, in a single threat-based location, accordingly it is assessed as Critically Endangered (CR B1ab(iii)) using the IUCN 2012 standard, making it the most threatened species of Gymnosiphon assessed in continental Africa. We provide notes on the importance for plant conservation of the type locality, the Boyboyba forest, Simandou, which has the highest diversity of Gymnosiphon species, and of achlorophyllous mycotrophic species, in W. Africa. The new species is illustrated by colour photos and line-drawings and is mapped. An identification key is provided to the ten species of the genus now known from Africa and Madagascar. La nouvelle espèce était autrefois confondue avec G. bekensis Letouzey d'Afrique centrale et lui ressemble par ses larges lobes tépales externes plats, son tube du périanthe > 10 mm de long et sa fleur (sub) sessile. The main hindrance is their unachieved or deteriorated mounting, as well as poor keeping, resulting in a very weak availability to botanists and other concerned people. Here we propose a simple restoration schedule for Phanerophytes, applied to a collection of histological sections from French Guiana. Results and prospects are briefly commented. RÉSUMÉ L'histothèque des bois de Guyane de Raymond Benoist à l'Herbier de Paris (P): restauration et commentaires. Les collections d'anatomie végétale constituées depuis plus d'un siècle et demi ont peu retenu l'attention, même lorsqu'elles sont les références d'ouvrages classiques et une source iconographique qui pourrait être revalorisée par l'imagerie microscopique actuelle et l'interconnexion des bases de données. Le principal obstacle est dans leur montage souvent incomplet ou détérioré et leur conditionnement peu satisfaisant, rendant leur accessibilité très faible aux botanistes et autres personnes intéressées. Nous proposons ainsi un protocole simple de restauration – le premier chez des Phanérophytes – d'une collection de coupes histologiques de Bois de Guyane française. Nous commentons brièvement les résultats et les perspectives.","PeriodicalId":55556,"journal":{"name":"Adansonia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2024-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141363004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Tanaka & Taram, sp. nov. is described and illustrated from West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh, NE India. It is similar to P. sinica F.T.Wang & Tang in sharing such characters as a long proximally creeping stem and tufts of leaves at some intervals, but can be clearly distinguished mainly by the larger leaves with more numerous longitudinal veins, longer peduncle, larger slightly drooping flowers and almost superior ovary. On the other hand, we also found P. sinica occurring in the same district of Arunachal Pradesh, which is a new record for the flora of India. We provided taxonomic data on these two species with notes concerning their relationships to congeners.
