The aim of the this study was evaluate the development of seedlings of Parkia multijuga in differents shading and container volume in nursery. The experimental design was a randomized block design in 4 x 4 subplotplot (4 shadings and 4 containers volumes). The shading was 0, 30, 50 and 70% and containerv olumes 110, 180, 290 and 400 cm³. The diameter, root drymass, shootdrymass, total dry mass and the Dickson quality index of the seedlings increased proportionally with container volume and with the availability of light. The conduction of the seedlings in full sun and container volume 400 cm³ favors the development of P. multijuga quality seedlings and 70% shading should not be used in nurseries to produce P. multijuga seedlings.","PeriodicalId":54998,"journal":{"name":"Iheringia Serie Botanica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2020-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83118855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These samples were kept in greenhouse and monitored for eight months. The seed bank was registered according to the seedling emergence method. TIF presented the greatest richness of trees, while in the other transects there was a predominance of herbaceous and anemochorous species. We observed the occurrence of exotic species in the bank. The low richness of tree species in the reforestation seed bank, despite its proximity to a conserved fragment, suggests that management actions should be evaluated and implemented in order to accelerate the successional process.","PeriodicalId":54998,"journal":{"name":"Iheringia Serie Botanica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2020-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90519236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods of overcoming dormancy were tested by comparing seedling emergence rate, mean emergence time and emergence index, with treatments: TC – control; T1– sanded and soaked in water for 48 h; T2 – sanded and soaked in water for 24 h; T3 – soaked in water without heating at the initial temperature of 60 °C, until reaching room temperature; T4 – only sanded; T5 – immature seeds. The results indicate that: i) newly collected seeds from mature pods do not require treatment to overcome dormancy; ii) immature seeds have germination similar to newly collected mature seeds.","PeriodicalId":54998,"journal":{"name":"Iheringia Serie Botanica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2020-04-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77579598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, we performed a structure inference based on the phenotypic data, identifying two structure groups, and the majority of Brazilian accessions belonged to the first group. Then, we performed principal component analysis and principal coordinate analysis, making Violin plots for each trait within each structure group. Next, we performed spatial clustering of the accessions and utilized an unweighted pair group method with arithmetic mean clustering. In brief, the Brazilian P. urvillei breeding programs may be successful by importing USDA germplasm resources from the second phenotypic structure group.","PeriodicalId":54998,"journal":{"name":"Iheringia Serie Botanica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2020-04-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88182437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this work was to determine the phytotoxic potential of extracts of leaf and bark from the stem of E. dysenterica on the initial growth of B. pilosa (black-jack). The experiment was performed under laboratory conditions, and the extracts used were: leaf aqueous extract, leaf ethanolic extract, leaf hydroalcoholic extract 70:30, leaf hydroalcoholic extract 50:50, bark from the stem aqueous extract, bark from the stem ethanol extract, bark from the stem hydroalcoholic extract 70:30 and bark from the stem hydroalcoholic extract 50:50. All E. dysenterica leaf and bark from the stem extracts exerted inhibitory effects on the radicle and hypocotyl growth of black-jack seedlings. Thus, E. dysenterica leaf and bark from the stem extracts present high phytotoxic potential and may be useful in studies attempting to find new molecules with bioherbicidal function for controlling spontaneous plants.","PeriodicalId":54998,"journal":{"name":"Iheringia Serie Botanica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2020-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86972346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A biometric analysis of 200 M. acaciifolium seeds from populations of both Central Amazon environments was performed. In greenhouse, germination of seeds under their soil of origin and under vermiculite was analyzed. The seeds from igapo presented higher mean weight and thickness compared to the floodplain seeds, which, on occasion, presented higher averages of length and width. The seed germination percentage of both environments was similar, but the speed was higher for the igapo seeds, regardless of the substrate. The igapo seeds are larger than the floodplain seeds and, because they have more reserves, they are able to produce more vigorous seedlings, regardless the physical conditions of the substrate.","PeriodicalId":54998,"journal":{"name":"Iheringia Serie Botanica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2020-02-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91019964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this work was to evaluate the responses to flooding in four native tree species. The species Eugenia uniflora L., Eugenia involucrata DC., Parapiptadenia rigida (Benth.) Brenan and Inga vera Willd. were distributed in control (C), partial (PF) and total (TF) flooding for 15 days and evaluated for growth and biomass. The results highlight that E. uniflora and P. rigida showed a reduction in dry mass under TF while I. vera and E. involucrata showed no difference under PF and TF. TF has a negative effect on root length in P. rigida and leaf number in E. uniflora . The responses observed for the studied species showed different morphological strategies to flooding periods that occur in subtropical riparian forests.","PeriodicalId":54998,"journal":{"name":"Iheringia Serie Botanica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2020-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82376101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
