The extent and location of the tumor decides the mode of treatment of the neoplastic lesion. Surgical removal of oral neoplasm leads to an extensive resection of the mandible along with the associated structures. Objective: This case report describes the use of palatal ramp prosthesis to guide the mandible during movements and restore a stable occlusal relationship with an additional acrylic buccal pad to achieve partial esthetics. Case Report: A 30-years-old female patient reported with the inability to chew food following the mandibular resection of the left side. History of the patient revealed left side segmental mandibulectomy following surgery for squamous cell carcinoma of mandible. This case report describes the use of palatal ramp prosthesis to guide the mandibular deviation. Conclusion: The clinician must keep in mind the prosthetic intervention until and unless the reconstruction of the defect is planned. Additional root canals mandate accurate diagnosis and conservative management to prevent any procedural errors. The first independent middle mesial canal incidence was verified in mandibular molars in 1974, with a global incidence of 10.8–27.0%. Reporting of the middle distal canal in the endodontic literature is scarce, with an incidence of 0.2–3%. The present case report describes the endodontic management of an unusual permanent mandibular first molar with three canals in the mesial and distal roots, diagnosed with irreversible pulpitis and apical periodontitis. A dental operating microscope and multiple angulated radiographs were used to identify the unusual morphology, and this was confirmed with cone-beam computed tomography imaging. The access cavity was modified to a trapezoidal shape, and the pulp chamber was carefully explored following root dentinal maps to expose additional canals by ultrasonic troughing. Methods: 20 patients with periapical lesion in the jaw, were included in the study. The presence of expansion or perforation and dimensions of the lesion were performed with CBCT. In the examination of the lesion with USG, shape, echogenicity, vascularization of the lesion and the presence of buccal expansion and perforation, were determined. Subsequently, a biopsy was taken from the lesion for histopathological examination and the final result was compared with the accuracy of the preliminary diagnoses. Results: Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Wilcoxon test (w) and Cohen’s kappa coefficient (κ) was used to analyze the data. Three of the 4 lesions diagnosed as periapical granuloma as a preliminary diagnosis were confirmed as periapical granuloma in histopathological examination. Periapical cyst was confirmed in histopathological examination of 14 of 16 lesions diagnosed as periapical cyst as a preliminary diagnosis. Mesiodistal (MD) measurements in CBCT measurements were significantly higher than the USG group (p <0.05). There was 100% agreement (p = 0.000) between the evaluation of buccal expansion, buccal perforation, and palatal-lingual perforation between CBCT and USG. This study aimed to investigate the effect of the preflaring technique on the accuracy of four electronic apex locators. Methods: Forty-five single-canal central maxillary teeth were selected. The working length was measured before and after the coronal preparation by four types of electronic apex locators in the range of ±0.5 and ±1 mm matched for the apical constriction. The actual working length was calculated under a microscope. Data were analyzed using ICC and paired t-tests in SPSS16. A p < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: The accuracies of Root ZX, DTE, Denjoy, and Coxo apex locators in the range of ± 0.05 mm were 71.1, 93.3, 84.4, and 75.6% before preflaring, and 82.2, 93.3, 97.8, and 100% after that. The corresponding values in the range of ±1 mm were 86.7, 97.8, 93.3, and 100% before and 97.8, 100, 100, and 100% after preflaring. Significant differences were found between the working lengths measured by the four devices and the actual working lengths before and after preflaring. Methods: About 100 third-year dental students answered a paper-based survey questionnaire (response rate = 90.90%), which was prepared and distributed in April 2019. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 22 (IBM SPSS, Turkey), and a one-way ANOVA test was used to determine the students’ competence for patient treatment based on their difficulty scores. Results: No statistically significant relationship was identified between the participants’ difficulty scores and grade point averages (p > 0.05). The students who felt ready for their clinical dental education phase—due the following year—had statistically significant lower difficulty scores than those who felt incompetent and uncertain (p: 0.005; p < 0.05). Notably, there was no statistically significant difference in the difficulty scores (p > 0.05) between the participants who felt incompetent and uncertain. Conclusion: Dental practice plays an important role in preclinical operative dentistry education. Methods: The sample was comprised of a total of 72 patients at the ages of 10 to 13. The TWB group consisted of 36 patients (22 females, 14 males, mean age: 11.9±1.5) and MB group consisted of 36 patients (18 females, 18 males, mean age: 11.8±1.2). The linear and angular measurements were evaluated on lateral cephalometric radiographs at beginning (T0) and end of treatment (T1). Results: The amounts of increase in the inferior airway space, L1xNB, IMPA and FMA measurements from T0 to T1 in the TWB group were significantly higher (p < 0.05).In the TWB group, the amounts of the increase in the soft palate thickness, distance between hyoid and C3, Co-A and Co-Gn measurements from T0 to T1 in the female patients were significantly higher (p < 0.05).In the MB group, the amounts of increase in the Upper adenoid thickness and Vertical airway length measurements from T0 to T1 in the female patients were significantly higher (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Both the MB and TWB appliances increase the pharyngeal airway dimensions, and the lower airway is most affected by the appliance type. Methods: A total of 110 disc-shaped polyetheretherketone specimens were randomly divided into 9 groups and 4 different surface treatments (control, sandblasting, tribochemical silica coating, sulfuric acid) were applied. The sandblasting, tribochemical silica coating, and sulfuric acid processes were performed 3 different times (10s, 15s, 20s). Then, the composite resins were applied to the treated surfaces of the polyetheretherketone specimens. The shear bond strength test and scanning electron microscopy analysis were performed. The data were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance and Duncan honest significant difference test. Results: One-way analysis of variance revealed differences in shear bond strength among the groups (p <0.001). While the control group showed the lowest bond strength values (4.24 ± 1.53 MPa), 20 s of sulfuric acid process showed the highest bond strength values (27.91 ± 4.44 MPa). Conclusion: Depending on the application time to the material, additional surface treatments increase the polyetheretherketone composite bonding. Methods: Sixty mandibular molars with a curvature of 30° were decoronated and divided into three groups (Vortex Blue, Mtwo, and ProTaper Next) and two subgroups (rotary and reciprocating motions). The samples were then instrumented with the files, dyed with 1% methylene blue dye, and sectioned horizontally at 3, 6, and 9 mm from the root apex. The dentinal microcracks were inspected using a stereomicroscope at 40× magnification. One-way analysis of variance and post hoc Tukey tests were used to perform statistical analysis. Results: Crack formation was statistically significant at the 6-mm and 9-mm levels from the root apex in both motions (p < 0.05). Among all the file system, Vortex Blue caused the highest dentinal microcracks in both motions at 6 mm from the root apex. Conclusion: The reciprocating motion resulted in fewer dentinal microcracks than the rotary motion. All file systems caused significant dentinal microcracks at the curvature of the root canal during both motions.
