Die Entwicklung ummantelt dabei die Schlauchbildungszone und erzeugt einen Strömungsspalt zwischen Folienblase und einer flexiblen Membran. In diesem Spalt erhöht sich die Strömungsgeschwindigkeit der Kühlluft, was zu einem erhöhten Wärmeentzug führt. Diese Erhöhung erzeugt im Spalt als Sekundäreffekt einen lokalen Unterdruck. Als Folge ergibt sich eine frühere Aufweitung der Folienblase im Vergleich zum konventionellen Prozess, wodurch der Wärmeentzug durch eine größere Oberfläche weiter gesteigert werden kann.
