However, women’s participation inpositions of power remains a challenge. This paper has two objectives: 1) to analyze the factors that contribute to women’s destitution from the mayoralty; 2) to identify the strategies that some of them use to stay in power. Interviews were conducted with all elected female mayors in a ten-year period (1999-2009). Three actors intervene in women’s permanence or destitution: the assembly, the town council and political parties. The second is the most difficult one for women. Some of the strategies used by them to remain in power are: to rely on the assembly as a source of legitimacy; to negotiate government portfolios with council members; to obtain funds and establish links with the state governor.","PeriodicalId":53329,"journal":{"name":"Eutopia Revista de Desarrollo Economico Territorial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67444521","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is one of the reasons that, according to our national household assets survey, the value of women’s assets on average is less than that of men. Nonetheless, there are major differences in the average value of wealth attained depending on a person’s marital status (being much higher among those who are married in comparison to living in a consensual union) and in the size of the gender wealth gap (being greatest among those who are married, widowed or separated).Drawing upon the results of our qualitative field work in three provinces, we illustrate how these gender wealth gaps by marital status may be the result of patrimonial violence.","PeriodicalId":53329,"journal":{"name":"Eutopia Revista de Desarrollo Economico Territorial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67444577","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Las jovenes se han involucrado en el empleo formal mucho mas que sus madres. Examinamos varios elementos exogenos al territorio, entre ellos movimientos del mercado internacional y politicas publicas mexicanas, para ver como estos interactuan con los procesos endogenos –sociales, politicos, culturales– en el desarrollo de las transformaciones ocupacionales documentadas. Nuestro analisis pone enfasis en aspectos de genero que estan en juego entre los factores exogenos como tambien en los procesos endogenos, ejemplificado en un proceso territorial ilustrativo: la implementacion de la legislacion nacional para el desarrollo rural sustentable.","PeriodicalId":53329,"journal":{"name":"Eutopia Revista de Desarrollo Economico Territorial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67443872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

El modelo de produccion centrado en la produccion de vinos comunes destinados al mercado interno, se combino con un nuevo modelo de produccion de vinos finos para al comercio internacional. Como consecuencia de este cambio de modelo se reorganiza el territorio tanto en lo que concierne a su utilizacion como a su apropiacion. El objetivo de este trabajo es estudiar el proceso de transformacion de la vitivinicultura mendocina a traves del analisis de la manera en la que se reestructura el territorio. Si bien la recomposicion del territorio aparece como una consecuencia de la reconversion del modelo productivo, es tambien un condicionante de su evolucion en el tiempo. Es este segundo aspecto el que nos interesa destacar en este articulo.","PeriodicalId":53329,"journal":{"name":"Eutopia Revista de Desarrollo Economico Territorial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67444073","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Se indagan los cambios producidos no solo en las unidades domesticas sino tambien en los espacios de vida y de trabajo de esos productores que se autodenominan “crianceros” en dos regiones de ganaderia extensiva orientada a la exportacion de lana y pelo mohair. Los casos muestran que la expansion territorial del capital y las formas diversas de resistencia comportan practicas y dinamicas sociales que van mas alla de transformaciones productivas e institucionales. Las estrategias familiares de reproduccion son mas complejas; se generan asimismo cambios en otros niveles de ruralidad, en la movilidad espacial, en el habitat, en las actividades de los pueblos, en los horizontes de vida rural.","PeriodicalId":53329,"journal":{"name":"Eutopia Revista de Desarrollo Economico Territorial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67444084","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sin embargo, para comprender la real naturaleza de las medidas que estos certificados de produccion promueven, es necesario profundizar en las relaciones de poder de los actores envueltos. Para el caso del Ecuador, las empresas floricolas certificadas con el sello Fairtrade International (FLO) desarrollan sus practicas en entornos a menudo de corte paternalista que, lejos de empoderar a la mano de obra, re-posicionan las jerarquias del mundo laboral y contribuyen a interiorizar en los trabajadores las exigencias de los mercados.","PeriodicalId":53329,"journal":{"name":"Eutopia Revista de Desarrollo Economico Territorial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67444121","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Por un lado, en varios paises como Argentina, Brasil, Uruguay, Paraguay y Guatemala la discusion se ha centrado en la extranjerizacion de la propiedad de la tierra. Esta se refiere a la adquisicion de tierra por actores extranjeros, como gobiernos y corporaciones, asi como de individuos, para una variedad de propositos y de diferentes escalas. Los autores advierten del peligro de centrar el debate sobre el acaparamiento en el concepto de extranjerizacion ya que utiliza los sentimientos nacionalistas como unidad de analisis y le resta importancia al actor central de este fenomeno, el capital a gran escala y los cambios agrarios que este conlleva.","PeriodicalId":53329,"journal":{"name":"Eutopia Revista de Desarrollo Economico Territorial","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67444138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
