Gripping biosystems can be very simple, like two areas of soft biological tissue that can grasp a body nearby, such as the extremities of the elephant's trunk, but also very complex as the human hand, considered the best gripping biosystem. Some gripping biosystems are adaptated to increase the safety of the grip such as the octopus arm which is provided with suction cups to compensate for the reduced friction in the aquatic environment. The paper first classifies biogrippers according to the grasp-grip method through which we distinguish gripping: by grasp, shellfish-like claws, beak, claws, jaws and fingers. Suggestive examples are given for each case, and in some cases even artificial variants that were more or less inspired by natural biogrippers considered as models. The few details of the mathematical modeling of the human hand grip can be extrapolated to all existing biogrippers that can be identified. The paper tries for the first time an exhaustive presentation of biogrippers in order to stimulate their in-depth study and to use as many of the natural gripping solutions and some of their features to optimize the artificial grippers used especially in robots.","PeriodicalId":52936,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Sciences and Innovation","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139368408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the present paper, a thorough study of the braking performance of heavy goods vehicles is presented. Operating conditions and other influencing factors during use create multiple combinations that influence the behavior and performance of braking systems in different ways. However, for such a speed of development, the dedicated means of research become insufficient, thus new study methods are needed to guarantee complex results with a minimum of consumed resources. Such a variant of the study is also addressed in this paper, where the results are obtained based on multiple simulations, carried out simultaneously, but in a much shorter time than in the experimental cases and with a large volume of data.","PeriodicalId":52936,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Sciences and Innovation","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139368467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The existence of resources in the earth's crust, at depths not always accessible, required the finding of methods for their exploration and exploitation. Consequently, in the last 30 years, drilling methods, techniques and technologies have been developed. Today, the Horizontal Directional Drilling method covers the entire geological spectrum, and in terms of rehabilitation and modernization projects of the underground infrastructure, it ensures high quality. Therefore, Horizontal Directional Drilling is the smart, clean and efficient solution for installing the network sections to be installed. The authors, under the auspices of the Romanian Academy of Technical Sciences (ASTR) and the General Association of Romanian Engineers (AGIR), in this paper, highlight the use and advantages of Horizontal Directional Drilling. The main objective is to install such services in Romania without using traditional trenching methods, helping to avoid any unnecessary impact on the environment and, evidently, offering extra security. \"","PeriodicalId":52936,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Sciences and Innovation","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139368547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The tests were performed at two different speeds, 5 km/h and 10 km/h, and five different incline angles: 0, 3, 7, 11 and 15 degrees by a sample of 11 healthy subjects. The medium cycles are determined and plotted for all subjects and for the sample, for all experimental tests. The medium cycle was calculated for each test, for each subject, and for the entire sample. A comparison is made between the average cycles of each test obtained for the sample. Increasing the TM inclination leads to an increase in the maximum value of the flex-ext angle. The influence of increasing the TM inclination angle on the variation of the flex-ext angle is stronger than that of increasing the walking speed.","PeriodicalId":52936,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Sciences and Innovation","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139368388","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is presented mathematical modeling of the processes of heat transfer and flow of indoor / outdoor air circulated through parallel vertical channels. The dimensions of vertical channel opening and air flows are based on the solutions of the property transfer equations associated with Model 1 (forced laminar flow) and Model 2 (globally representative model of both laminar flow and turbulent flow). Model 2 includes both laminar flow (space heating in cold season and cooling spaces in summer season hours with sun) and turbulent flow (cooling living spaces in summer season, hours of night – free cooling). A case study and the interpretation of the results obtained regarding the energy performance of the living space in relation to similar results associated with the conventional envelope is presented.","PeriodicalId":52936,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Sciences and Innovation","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139368509","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Atmospheric Plasma Spray (APS) method were used to deposit the coating onto the polymeric substrate, which was obtained by injection molding. Several characteristics of the coated samples, as thermal behavior, roughness, as well as structural and morphological aspects, were evaluated during the investigation. The surface analysis of the samples demonstrated a uniform deposition for the ZrO2 18TiO3 10Y2O3 layer, but a less uniform deposition for the coatings containing ceramic micro-particles of chromium (III) oxides. The thermal research revealed the material's structural resilience. Regarding Atomic Force Microscopy examination, it highlighted the roughness of the coated surfaces and also the good adhesion of the microparticles on the biopolymer substrate.","PeriodicalId":52936,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Sciences and Innovation","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139368543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method used is a case study methodology and applied. From the data obtained in the field, it was found that there were 4 gas detector disturbances in 2019 and 5 times in 2020 which resulted in no detection of gas leaks when the detector was disturbed, as well as 34 gas leaks in 2019 and 42 times in 2020. From this data, it is used as a reference in designing the FEARLESS (FIRE SUPRESSION AND SMART ALERT SYSTEM) to detect gas leaks. The application of the FEARLESS system can be drawn several conclusions, including applying the FEARLESS system can reduce the failure or damage that occurs so as to minimize the occurrence of undetected gas leaks. In other words, efficiency is a process while effectiveness is an outcome. Having said that, the question rises (rhetorical, after all): was the process of thermal rehabilitation of the residential building stock efficient? Was it effective? Efficient it probably was: with the resources at the disposal of the town halls, with funds attracted and with the contribution of owners' associations (when the situation demanded their participation), a huge number of residential buildings were covered in thermal-insulating blankets. Was the expected result achieved? In other words, was it effective? The question may have many answers, considering the angles, the nuances and perspectives from where the intervention is evaluated, from the very basis of the approach – the hypothesis and the concept - to the architecture of the buildings and their relationship with the urban space of which they are a part. The paper proposes a critical analysis of the results of the approach to the thermal “wrapping” of residential buildings in Romania as well as in the European research and practice.\"","PeriodicalId":52936,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering Sciences and Innovation","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44994129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
