Many universities are moving fully or partially to this form of study. In the article, the authors considered what is virtual space, what are its criteria, as well as applicability for teaching students and passing research practices. Based on an analysis of existing virtual spaces (platforms), an experiment was conducted. The study showed that in real enterprises social skills develop better, while professional ones are worse; with the complete replacement of actual practice with virtual, social skills (such as teamwork, interpersonal communication, conflict resolution) practically do not develop. When introducing an external curator and uniting students into small groups (2-3 people) for a complex task fulfilment, it allowed strengthening the advantages of virtual practice in terms of developing professional competencies and to level its shortcomings, adding more \"reality\" The experiment showed that a virtual platform could be an alternative to passing research practice for students. Still, it must be corrected both at the beginning (for certain specialities of student training) and after a particular time. The main reasons that impede the development of the creation of both virtual spaces and the process of \"virtualisation\" of science as a whole are considered.","PeriodicalId":52223,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Industrial Engineering and Production Research","volume":"22 1","pages":"547-558"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74289779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We use the analytical economic methodology to analyse the transport industry of Ukraine; to investigate the theoretical and methodological principles of the compensation policy formation in urban public transport. We use expert evaluation methods to check the relevant factors while deciding to use or not use public transport. This study has proved that when making management decisions, it is necessary to take into account both the opinion of users and the opinion of experts; none of these opinions should prevail over the other, and therefore decisions should be made based on a balanced assessment. The authors identified 18 factors that have the most significant influence when deciding on the use of passenger transport; conducted a study twice on the importance of each factor, highlighted the impact of each of them. The authors also proposed theoretical and methodological developments that can be used to improve compensation policy in the field of passenger transportation. With this article, we show that when researching, it is necessary to take into account both the opinion of direct participants and experts in this industry it is this tandem that will allow developing the most relevant recommendations for making managerial decisions.","PeriodicalId":52223,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Industrial Engineering and Production Research","volume":"11 1 1","pages":"491-498"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86781919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper examined the lack of a well-structured and sustainable knowledge sharing practices within the main stakeholders, community users, and the government. It was analyzed that maintenance and operations, and the integration of a project management strategy were requisite criteria for the sustainability of the hand water pump in the remote towns’ water supply project. Community users have minimum involvement throughout the project phase; they have no knowledge on the technical approach of accessing the failed parts, the community does not have a trained expert to work on it and the government does not reserve spare parts of the equipment. The communication between the remote users and the suppliers is very poor which contributes which also leads to problems. Therefore, it is necessary to have a strategic focus on allocation of resources for automation transmission process. There is need for a model of maintenance which results from the objective of the study to provide for practical coordination that integrates both major stakeholders. The objective is to establish an institutional and sustainable support system through various partnerships.","PeriodicalId":52223,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Industrial Engineering and Production Research","volume":"60 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79780380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, applying sentiment analysis to Twitter data is regarded as a considerable problem, particularly for various organizations or companies who seek to know customers’ feelings and opinions about their products and services. The nature, variety, and enormous size of the data make it considerably practical for several applications ranging from choice and decision making to product assessment. Tweets are being used to convey the sentiment of a tweeter on a specific topic. Those companies keep surveying millions of tweets on some kinds of subjects to evaluate actual opinions and know the customers’ feelings. This paper aims to significantly collect, recognize, filter, reduce, and analyze all such relevant opinions, emotions, and feelings of people on different products or services which could be categorized into positive, negative, or neutral because such categorization improves sales growth of a company's products, films, etc. The Naïve Bayes classifier is the mainly utilized machine learning method for mining feelings from a large quantity of data, like twitter and other popular social networks, due to its higher accuracy rates. This study performs sentiment polarity analysis on Twitter data in a distributed environment, known as Apache Spark.","PeriodicalId":52223,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Industrial Engineering and Production Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"343-350"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74142517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The materials are removed layer by layer via laser engraving in the laser path through melting displacement, ablation, and evaporation. Al-SiC is a metal matrix composite that is widely used in aerospace, automobile manufacturing, and electronic packaging. Accumulative Roll Bonding (ARB) is one of the newest manufacturing processes of metal matrix composites which finally produces materials with high strength, low weight, and great environmental compatibility. This study investigates the laser engraving of Al-SiC composite samples which are produced through ARB process by using Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. In this study, the 2k factorial design was used to analyze the effects of factors, including assistant gas flow, sample distance from beam focus location (distance), pulse repetition frequency, and pumping current on the qualitative characteristics of engraved zone (width, depth, and contrast of engraved zone). Desirability function was also used for optimization. The results that were based on experimental data indicated the optimal setting of input factors, leading to pre-specified target values of responses.","PeriodicalId":52223,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Industrial Engineering and Production Research","volume":"161 1","pages":"409-422"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86674452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The leftover product has a lower perceived quality than the new product. Therefore, retailers try to influence consumers’ preferences through price differentiation that leads to an internal competition based on product age and prices. The price differentiation strategy affects the market demands, sales volume and consequently, the profitability of the whole fresh-product Supply Chain (SC) and its members. This paper addresses the pricing and inventory control problem for fresh products to examine the influence of this competition on the SC members’ decisions and profits. Accordingly, a new coordination model based on a return policy with the revenue and cost-sharing contract is developed to improve the profits of independent SC members. The fresh-product SC consists of one supplier and one retailer, where consumers are sensitive to the freshness and retail price of the product. Firstly, the retailer’s optimal decisions, including the order quantity and old product price, are made influenced by a decentralized decision-making structure. Then, a centralized approach to optimization of the SC decisions from the whole SC viewpoint is utilized. Finally, a new coordination contract is designed to motivate the members to participate in the coordination model. Numerical examples are presented to compare the performance of different decision-making approaches. The findings indicated that the proposed contract could effectively coordinate the fresh-product SC. Furthermore, the coordinated decisionmaking model is more profitable and beneficial for the whole SC compared to the decentralized one. The results also showed that when consumers were more sensitive to freshness, the simultaneous sale of multiple-aged products at different prices would be more profitable.","PeriodicalId":52223,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Industrial Engineering and Production Research","volume":"28 1","pages":"469-485"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74581964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although it is possible to manipulate Image Recognition verification, it can still be of some help against any form of fraudulent scheme. The present study proposes a model of pixel-wise operations for identifying a location point. The computer vision is not limited to pixel-wise operations. It can be more complicated than image processing. First, unstructured image segmentation is taken via K-Means Clustering Algorithm. Then, after completing the preprocessing step, the segmented image is extracted from the surveillance cameras to identify expressions and vehicle images. Raw images of the surveillance camera comprise the images of individuals and vehicles that are classified by means of DWT. Further, the images that represent the appearances are taken by Smart Selfie Click (SSC). These two features are extracted in order to identify whether or not a vehicle should be permitted into the campus, thus making the verification possible. These two images are nothing but reliable objects extracted and used for location identification.","PeriodicalId":52223,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Industrial Engineering and Production Research","volume":"422 1","pages":"361-366"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84928665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this regard, first, CART classifier decision tree is used to classify the operation mode, or the number of active pumps, based on the historical data of Austin-Texas infrastructure. Then, SOM is utilized to classify the customers and select the most important features that might have effect on the consumption pattern. Further, the extracted features is fed to Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) neural network that predicts the required outflow rate of the period for each operation mode classified by CART. The results showed that the prediction F-measures were measured 90%, 88%, and 84% for each operation mode 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Finally, the nonlinear optimization problem is developed based on the data and features extracted from the previous steps solved by artificial immune algorithm. The results of the optimization model were compared with the observed data, showing that the proposed model could save up to 2%-8% of the outflow rate and wastewater, regarded as a significant improvement in the performance of pumping system.","PeriodicalId":52223,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Industrial Engineering and Production Research","volume":"65 1","pages":"423-433"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82361058","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
