RHD remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality, particularly in resource-limited settings, despite being largely preventable. The screening program targets university students due to their age group's susceptibility to RHD and the potential to intervene early in the disease progression. Through a combination of clinical assessments, echocardiography, and laboratory tests, students are evaluated for signs and symptoms of RHD. The findings shed light on the prevalence of RHD among university populations and the utility of targeted screening in identifying asymptomatic cases. This research contributes to the understanding of RHD epidemiology and informs strategies for early detection and intervention, thereby mitigating its burden on public health systems.","PeriodicalId":517877,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Prevention Practice and Research","volume":"576 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140286607","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Analyzing responses from a large sample of adolescents, the study explores the association between soft drink consumption and indicators of mental health, including depressive symptoms and suicide attempts. Results reveal a significant correlation between frequent soft drink consumption and adverse mental health outcomes among adolescents. The findings underscore the importance of considering dietary habits in adolescent mental health interventions and highlight the need for targeted public health initiatives aimed at promoting healthier beverage choices among youth.","PeriodicalId":517877,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Prevention Practice and Research","volume":"320 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140461222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study employs Bayesian modeling techniques to analyze data gathered from student surveys, exploring the complex relationships between various factors influencing learning experiences and study habits. By leveraging Bayesian inference, the study offers insights into the nuanced interactions between student characteristics, learning environments, and academic outcomes. The findings provide valuable guidance for educators and policymakers seeking to optimize learning environments and support students in achieving their educational goals.","PeriodicalId":517877,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Prevention Practice and Research","volume":"35 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140463477","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Emotional validity refers to the congruence between emotional cues and task demands, impacting the allocation of attention and cognitive resources during conflict resolution. This paper reviews current research investigating the neural correlates and behavioral effects of emotional validity on conflict control processes. It examines how emotional stimuli modulate attentional bias, response inhibition, and cognitive flexibility through interactions with brain regions implicated in emotion regulation and cognitive control. Furthermore, the paper discusses implications for cognitive theories of emotion-cognition interaction and potential applications in clinical and real-world settings.","PeriodicalId":517877,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Prevention Practice and Research","volume":"48 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140511175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
