In this study, we attempt to construct a quantum circuit learning model to infer potential energy surfaces and atomic forces without using the iterative loop to optimize parameters for every bond length. To realize a high, accurate inference performance, measurement is introduced in the middle of the circuit. When the proposed quantum circuit learning model is applied to the H2 molecule, the energies and atomic forces can be estimated with high accuracy in a single feed-forward calculation with varying bond lengths. A nonlinear relation between outcomes from data-encoding layer and inputs can also be used to eliminate the data-encoding layer, allowing for our quantum circuit model with lower learning costs by reducing the number of parameters to be optimized. Our model can be also extended to six-qubit systems, such as the H3 molecule, and to the water molecule with two internal degrees of freedom. Finally, we use the IBM Quantum backend to perform inference with a real quantum computer and show the effect of noise on the actual quantum device.","PeriodicalId":517678,"journal":{"name":"APL Quantum","volume":"415 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140719318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our investigations reveal that exceptional points (EPs) may unveil the quantum limit of fluorescence rates in plexcitonic single-photon sources. By employing a non-Hermitian Hamiltonian framework and field quantization model, we demonstrate how the fluorescence rate can be ingeniously designed in an exemplified plexcitonic system consisting of a nanocube-on-mirror cavity and a single quantum emitter. We predict the highest fluorescence rates of 11.0, 13.9, and 14.7 THz at the EPs with typical dipole moments of 25, 30, and 35 D, respectively.","PeriodicalId":517678,"journal":{"name":"APL Quantum","volume":"229 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140286896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using a specific α-free non-relativistic and nonlinear isotropic quantum model compatible with its quantum electrodynamics (QED) counterpart yields the 99% accurate solution α = 7.364 × 10−3 vs its experimental value 7.297 × 10−3. The ∼1% error is due to the deliberate use of mean-field Hartree approximation involving lowest-order QED in the calculations. The present theory has been checked by changing the geometry of the model. Moreover, it fits the mathematical solution of the original nonlinear integro-differential Hartree system by use of a rapidly convergent series of nonlinear eigenstates [G. Reinisch, Phys. Lett. A 498, 129347 (2024)]. These results strongly suggest the mathematical transcendental nature—e.g., like for π or e—of α’s numerical value of ∼1/137 and, hence, its astrophysical as well as its cosmological stability.","PeriodicalId":517678,"journal":{"name":"APL Quantum","volume":"984 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140286437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We specifically focus on the Aubry–André–Harper model, a quasiperiodic model known to exhibit a metal–insulator transition at a critical potential value of λc = 2. This model combines Anderson and Aubry–André–Harper localization phenomena in a quantum system, leading to intriguing effects on the lattice band structure upon the application of an electric field F to the Aubry–André–Harper potential. Our investigation reveals that by choosing a specific value for the applied electric field, it becomes feasible to generate effective massless Dirac fermions within our Aubry–André–Harper system. Furthermore, we note that the extension or localization of the massless particle wave function is contingent upon the potential strength value λ within our incommensurate model. Importantly, our findings highlight the potential for detecting this intriguing phenomenon through experimental means.","PeriodicalId":517678,"journal":{"name":"APL Quantum","volume":"176 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140405089","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Lindblad master equation is the simplest equation to understand this interaction. In this paper, we have extended the traditional Lindblad equation by fractionalizing its time derivative to account for the memory-induced dissipation. Using this approach, we show weak dissipation of selected quantum systems can be reproduced by this proposed time-fractional Lindblad equation without introducing any specific dissipation terms in the model. By varying the order of the time-fractional Lindblad equation without dissipation terms, we can reproduce the results with good agreements to three tested cases: (a) dissipative Rabi oscillation, (b) dissipative Ising model, and (c) collapse and revival in the Jaynes–Cumming model. We believe this proposed time-fractional Lindblad equation may be a useful modeling tool to characterize weakly dissipative quantum systems in practical quantum technologies, especially if the complex dissipation mechanism is not completely known from the traditional approaches.","PeriodicalId":517678,"journal":{"name":"APL Quantum","volume":"101 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140405553","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the time-reversible atomic systems, narrowband biphoton sources are essential for efficient quantum storage. In this work, we demonstrate time-reversed and fully time-resolved ultra-narrowband single-sided biphoton frequency combs with an average free-spectral range (FSR) of 42.66 MHz and an average linewidth of 4.60 MHz in the telecommunication band. We experimentally observe the fully time-resolved and reversible temporal oscillations by second-order cross correlation and joint temporal intensity measurements. The potential benefits of the time-reversed and fully time-resolved temporal oscillations from our source include enhancing the efficiency of quantum storage in atomic memories and maximizing the utilization of temporal information in multimode biphoton frequency combs. We further verify the heralded single-photon state generation from the multimode biphoton frequency combs by using Hanbury Brown and Twiss interference measurements. To the best of our knowledge, this 42.66 MHz FSR of our photon-pair source represents the narrowest among all of the different configurated biphoton sources reported to date. This ultra-narrow FSR and its 4.60 MHz linewidth provide the highest frequency mode number of 5786 and the longest coherence time among all the singly configurated biphoton sources so far. Our time-reversed and fully time-resolved massive-mode biphoton source could be useful for high-dimensional quantum information processing and efficient time–frequency multiplexed quantum storage toward long-distance and large-scale quantum networks.","PeriodicalId":517678,"journal":{"name":"APL Quantum","volume":"225 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140437833","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
