The Role of Environmental Awareness in Supporting Coastal Ecotourism
Objective – This study was undertaken to analyze the relationship between perceived negative impacts on land reclamation (LR) and support for coastal ecotourism within fishing communities (CE), with environmental awareness (EA) as the mediating variable.\u0000Methodology – This study utilized a convenience sampling technique to distribute questionnaires to 400 domestic tourists in coastal areas. Data analysis was conducted using Hayes’s PROCESS in IBM Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS v25.0).\u0000Findings – Results showed that LR had a direct effect on CE [β= 0.183; 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.095–0.270; P= 0.000 <0.05]. Furthermore, a statistically significant indirect effect between LR and CE via EA was also observed (β= 0.269; 95% CI =0.192–0.351; P= 0.000<0.05), indicating partial mediation.\u0000Novelty – These findings highlight that EA is important and essential to be promoted when considering sustainable development in both land reclamation and coastal ecotourism in fishing communities. Affected communities, usually with high environmental awareness, will comprehend the impacts of land developments and react to conserve the environment. In this case, as significant stakeholders with high environmental awareness, tourists are more inclined to support ecotourism, advocate for environmental conservation, and preserve local fishing cultures for appreciation. \u0000Type of Paper: Empirical\u0000JEL Classification: Q5, O13, P28, R5\u0000Keywords: Sustainable development; land reclamation; coastal ecotourism; environment awareness\u0000Reference to this paper should be made as follows: Mahyudin, M.N.H.B.M; Kamaruddin, H; Hassan, M.S. PLS-SEM is required to determine the reliability and validity of the model in terms of measurement and structural model.\u0000Findings – The results found that our model is reliable and valid regarding measurement and structural model. Our R-square values achieve satisfactory results, where two of the three dependent variables acquire a moderate benchmark. The hypotheses results show that only a few of the Smart City Elements significantly affect Smart City Performance.\u0000Novelty – Novelty in this research is identified when we can refer to the understanding of the needs of the Smart City model from the community’s perspective. The Smart City concept created by the government undoubtedly sustains the city towards a better and more progressive life. In this study, we have evaluated the value of the Smart City concept from the community.\u0000Type of Paper: Empirical\u0000JEL Classification: R11, R58\u0000Keywords: Smart City; Elements; Performances; Perspective; Community; Petaling Jaya.\u0000Reference to this paper should be made as follows: Azmi, N.A; Rozman, R.T.A.T. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive literature review on supply chain resilience in the coal mining industry and pinpoint potential avenues for further investigation.\u0000Methodology – A systematic literature review (SLR) was utilized to examine a total of 115 studies in the field of management and the coal mining supply chain. The studies were published from 2010 to 2023. The vulnerabilities and resilience strategies within the coal mining supply chain are the focal points of our research. We have integrated viewpoints from the domains of management and the coal mining supply chain to support our analysis.\u0000Findings – Challenges such as resource distribution, government policies, and maintenance are prevalent, pointing to the need for strategies that enhance performance through dynamic optimization and incentivizing integration. Practitioners must identify vulnerabilities in the coal mining supply chain to proactively anticipate and effectively manage potential disruptions, thus bolstering operational resilience.\u0000Novelty –This study fills the gap in extant literature by investigating the sequential application of supply chain resilience in the context of coal mining operations using the integrative view of supply chain nodes.\u0000Type of Paper: Review\u0000JEL Classification: M00, L72, M11, O13.\u0000Keywords: Coal mining, Disruption, Risk mitigation, Supply chain resilience, Systematic literature review\u0000Reference to this paper should be made as follows: Sinaga, P.T; Simatupang, T.M; Basri, M.H. With different strategies and industrial backgrounds, they have opportunities and challenges to develop research that is beneficial to the common interest. Knowledge of existing challenges is required, using the gap analysis method of business size, management commitment, research & funding schemes, and research and innovation progress and achievements.\u0000Methodology – Identification of gaps is carried out by collecting and comparing data on revenue, assets, management commitment documents, research schemes, and funding, research units, business processes, core competencies, joint research programs, as well as technology adoption that each I2RI member has carried out, and also data on infrastructure market potential.\u0000Findings—It was found that all I2RI member companies still have gaps in terms of business size (revenue and assets), management commitment, technology mastery, and research and innovation capabilities. Apart from gaps, opportunities were also found in the supply chain circle and national infrastructure market that they could exploit.\u0000Novelty – This gap can be closed by being led by members who have financial stability and mature research collaboration & funding experience.
