Ontology has been used to manage the Water Conservation Digital Library holding a growing collection of various types of digital resources in the domain of urban water conservation in Florida, USA. The ontology based back-end powers a fully operational web interface, available at http://library.conservefloridawater.org . The European Commission funded its development as part of a digital libraries initiative to integrate access to Europe's distributed digitised cultural heritage resources. The prototype of “Europeana.eu” was launched by the President of the European Commission in November 2008 to such large-scale public interest that the portal came to a standstill. Now back online with full functionality, it gives access to 4.5 million items from over 1 000 of Europe's major libraries, museums, galleries, archives and audio-visual collections. The case study describes both the political and practical development of Europeana. It covers the user research and testing behind Europeana, and its metadata elements and surrogate model. It concludes with a description of the projects which will be contributing content and technology solutions to Europeana over the next two years, to bring it to fully operational service. The next version will be launched in summer 2010 with access to over 10 million digital items. „Europeana eu“ ist Europas digitales Bibliotheks-, Archiv- und Museumsportal. Die Europäische Kommission finanzierte seine Entwicklung als Teil einer digitalen Bibliotheksinitiative, um den Zugang zu Europas verteilten digitalen Kulturerbe-Quellen zusammenzuführen. Der Prototyp von „Europeana eu“ wurde im November 2008 vom Präsidenten der Europäischen Kommission eröffnet und erhielt solch riesiges öffentliches Interesse, dass das Portal zum Stillstand kam. Jetzt ist es wieder online mit allen Funktionalitäten; es gibt Zugang zu 4.5 Millionen Objekten aus über 1 000 der größten Bibliotheken, Museen, Galerien, Archive und audiovisuellen Sammlungen Europas. Der Beitrag beschreibt sowohl die politische als auch die praktische Entwicklung von Europeana. Er behandelt die Anwenderuntersuchung und Tests hinter Europeana, die Metadatenelemente und das Ersatzmodell. Although the details of scatternet implementation are not specified in the Bluetooth specification, much research has been carried out to propose different models of implementation. This paper presents a combination of the techniques of handoff and scatternet formation to adapt to varying topologies and traffic changes. It explores factors related to the web environment as well as those of the games themselves.
