{"title":"Transport and Connection to Heavy-ion Collisions via Heavy Flavor Probes","authors":"Hai-Tao Shu","doi":"10.22323/1.453.0115","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.22323/1.453.0115","url":null,"abstract":"The heavy ion experiments in Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are going through upgrade in the next five years, shifting their focus more on the hard processes in the new runs. One of the main goals is to draw a finer image for the quark gluon plasma (QGP). The heavy flavor probes , which witness the whole history of heavy ion collision are particularly sensitive to test the properties of QGP formed in such collisions. The lattice results for heavy flavor probes provide transport and phenomenological models crucial inputs to describe the experimental observations like the strong suppression of the nuclear modification factor $R_{AA}$ and the non-zero azimuthal anisotropy at low $p_T$. In the last two years we have seen significant advances in the lattice QCD studies of heavy flavor probes, including the in-medium quarkonium properties, the complex static quark-antiquark potential and the heavy quark diffusion from lattice simulations at nonzero temperature. These achievements substantially deepen our understanding of the fate of quarkonium, the screening/unscreening of the complex potential and the temperature and quark mass dependence of the heavy quark diffusion in thermal medium. In these proceedings, we review recent results and briefly discuss possible directions in these studies.","PeriodicalId":513451,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The 40th International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory — PoS(LATTICE2023)","volume":" 94","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139618858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Carlo","doi":"10.22323/1.453.0120","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.22323/1.453.0120","url":null,"abstract":"We provide an overview of the current state of lattice calculations concerning isospin-breaking corrections in weak decays, focusing in particular on leptonic decays of light pseudoscalar mesons. We examine the two currently existing calculations, placing a particular emphasis on the role of electromagnetic finite-volume corrections. Given the large systematic uncertainty associated with such corrections, we propose a novel method to improve the finite-volume scaling of leptonic decay rates and other hadronic observables, like hadron masses and the hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the muon $g{-}2$. We introduce a new prescription for the QED action, referred to as QED$_mathrm{r}$, which effectively removes finite-volume corrections at $mathcal{O}(1/L^3)$ and consequently shifts the systematic uncertainty to a higher order. The specifics of this action, the practical implementation of the infrared improvement, and the ongoing numerical tests are also discussed.","PeriodicalId":513451,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The 40th International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory — PoS(LATTICE2023)","volume":" 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139620898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the first part, I discuss the main processes and lattice-QCD inputs used to determine the Wolfenstein parameters of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix. In the second part, I review selected further processes that are being used to search for physics beyond the Standard Model. New results presented at Lattice 2023 are referenced throughout, but detailed discussions are limited to selected work published prior to the conference. QED corrections, inclusive decays on the lattice, and processes involving hadronic resonances are not discussed in detail here, as they were covered in other plenary talks at Lattice 2023 and Lattice 2022.","PeriodicalId":513451,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The 40th International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory — PoS(LATTICE2023)","volume":" 44","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139621132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

ILDG was established some twenty years ago as a community-wide initiative to enable the sharing of gauge configurations generated by many major lattice collaborations. After a phase in which availability and usage of services had degraded, an effort to modernize and reactivate ILDG 2.0 has been started. The initiative has made important progress and we can look forward to larger and fully FAIR data sets becoming available to a wider audience.","PeriodicalId":513451,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The 40th International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory — PoS(LATTICE2023)","volume":" 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139622612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
