We conducted a sampling campaign in the context of the program “Our Planet Reviewed”, with the aim to increase sampling coverage and to analyze already known regional diversity with a combination of classical morpho-anatomic characters and DNA barcoding. We sampled a total of 31 locations, and identified 22 previously recorded species and eight new citations belonging to the families Acanthodrilidae Claus, 1880, Hormogastridae Michaelsen, 1900 and Lumbricidae Rafinesque-Schmaltz, 1815. We obtained 525 COI barcodes which clustered into 48 genetic lineages, highlighting the importance of molecular techniques for earthworm diversity surveys. Of these lineages, ten are supported by multiple lines of evidence and will be described in a forthcoming taxonomy paper as species new to science. Biogeographical affinities of the identified species showed a lower rate of cosmopolitan species compared to other Mediterranean islands, a certain degree of affinity with Italy and Sardinia, and a high rate of endemism (which could be mirrored by the Balearic Islands and Sardinia). Comparative phylogeographic analyses are needed to understand the history of colonization and diversification of earthworms on Mediterranean islands, and to investigate the drivers that shaped differences in their diversity. RÉSUMÉ Liste actualisée et bibliothèque de codes-barres ADN pour les vers de terre (Crassiclitellata, Oligochaeta) de Corse, France. Les études disponibles sur la faune lombricienne de la Corse font état d'un total de 36 espèces, mais cette diversité régionale est probablement sous-estimée si l'on considère les efforts d'échantillonnage relativement modestes réalisés jusqu'à présent. Nous avons mené une campagne d'échantillonnage dans le cadre du programme « La Planète Revisitée», avec comme objectif d'augmenter la couverture d'échantillonnage et d'analyser la diversité régionale en combinant l'utilisation des caractères morpho-anatomiques classiques à celle des codes-barres ADN. Nous avons échantillonné un total de 31 sites, ce qui a permis d'identifier 22 espèces précédemment citées et huit nouvelles signalisations appartenant aux familles Acanthodrilidae Claus, 1880, Hormogastridae Michaelsen, 1900 et Lumbricidae Rafinesque-Schmaltz, 1815. Nous avons obtenu 525 codes-barres ADN qui nous ont permis de délimiter 48 lignées génétiques, soulignant l'importance des techniques moléculaires pour inventorier la diversité des vers de terre. Parmi ces lignées, dix sont soutenues par la morphologie et seront décrites comme espèces nouvelles pour la science dans un article de taxonomie à venir. It is traditionally attributed to morphological Group IV of Helicometra spp., characterized by a cup-shaped oral sucker with a terminal mouth opening. Helicometra antarcticae, similar to other Antarctic representatives of the genus, is quite rare and poorly studied. We redescribe this species based on newly collected material from the Antarctic toothfish, Dissostichus mawsoni Norman, 1937 (Nototheniidae Günther, 1861) caught in the Ross Sea (Antarctica) and evaluate its phylogenetic position using a fragment of the nuclear 28S rRNA gene. We provide new morphological details on H. antarcticae concerning the arrangement of the ventral part of the fields of vitelline follicles and the morphology of the proximal portion of the oviduct. Additionally, we describe the morphology of Helicometra sp. (morphological Group IV) from the Pacific zoarcid fish, Lycodes cf. brunneofasciatus Suvorov, 1935, caught off Simushir Island (Pacific Ocean) and Helicometra fasciata sensu lato (morphological Group I), from the black scorpion fish Scorpaena porcus Linnaeus, 1758 from the Black Sea. In our phylogenetic analysis, H. antarcticae clustered with a Pacific Helicometra sp. This clade has a sister relationship to the well-supported clade containing Helicometrina nimia Linton, 1910 and Helicometra spp. of Groups I and III respectively, including H. fasciata sensu lato from the Black Sea. Thus, our phylogenetic data indicate that Helicometra is not a monophyletic genus. RÉSUMÉ Redescription et évaluation phylogénétique d'Helicometra antarcticae Holloway & Bier, 1968 (Trematoda, Opecoelidae), et évidence de la non monophylie du genre Helicometra Odhner, 1902. Helicometra antarcticae Holloway & Bier, 1968 est l'un des rares représentants antarctiques du genre riche en espèces Helicometra Odhner, 1902. Il est traditionnellement attribué au groupe morphologique IV d'Helicometra spp., caractérisé par une ventouse buccale en forme de coupe avec une ouverture buccale terminale. Helicometra antarcticae, comme d'autres représentants antarctiques du genre, est assez rare et peu étudié. Nous redécrivons cette espèce sur la base du matériel nouvellement collecté de la légine antarctique, Dissostichus mawsoni Norman, 1937 (Nototheniidae Günther, 1861) capturée dans la mer de Ross (Antarctique) et évaluons sa position phylogénétique à l'aide d'un fragment du gène nucléaire ARNr 28S. Nous précisons les données morhologiques nouvelles sur H. antarcticae concernant la disposition de la partie ventrale des champs de follicules vitellins et la morphologie de la partie proximale de l'oviducte. De plus, nous décrivons la morphologie d'Helicometra sp. The annotated catalogue of all these taxa is drawn up including species whose type material could not be found in the collection. Today the Paris museum houses 1011 asteroid type specimens representing 398 nominal species and subspecies, most of which were described by Lamarck (1816), Müller & Troschel (1842), Perrier (between 1869 and 1896) and Koehler (between 1895 and 1923). Though originating worldwide, species coming from the Atlantic and Indo-West Pacific Oceans, and Antarctic waters are more numerous. A biographical directory of all those involved either in the descriptions of the species or the collection of new material as well as their dedicatee is annexed to the catalogue. Revision of the Paris collection allows to propose taxonomic changes for two species of Müller & Troschel (Echinaster crassus Müller & Troschel, 1842 and Echinaster gracilis Müller & Troschel, 1842 are synonymized with Echinaster purpureus (Gray, 1840)) and five species of Perrier (Asterias borbonica Perrier, 1875 and Echinaster clouei Perrier, 1869 are synonymized with Echinaster purpureus (Gray, 1840), Oreaster clouei Perrier, 1869 and Oreaster mammosus Perrier, 1869 with Protoreaster lincki (Blainville, 1830) and Ophidiaster chinensis Perrier, 1875 with Ophidiaster granifer Lütken, 1871). Aujourd'hui le muséum de Paris conserve 1011 spécimens types d'astéries représentant 398 espèces et sous-espèces nominales. Décrites principalement par Lamarck (1816), Müller & Troschel (1842), Perrier (entre 1869 et 1896) et Koehler (entre 1895 et 1923), ces astéries sont originaires de toutes les mers du globe, mais proviennent majoritairement des océans Atlantique et Indo-Ouest Pacifique, ainsi que des mers antarctiques. Un répertoire biographique de toutes les personnes impliquées dans la description des espèces ou dans la récolte des spécimens types ainsi qu'à leurs dédicataires, accompagne le catalogue en annexe. Morales Agacino (Estación Fitopatológica del INIA, Almería), accompanied by J. Mateu Sanpere (naturalist, seconded to the Spanish Sahara), J. Giner Marí (Instituto Español de Entomología, Madrid) and F. Español Coll (Museo de Zoología, Barcelona), explored the ex-Spanish Sahara (from Cap Juby to Cap Blanc) according to a standardised protocol. Collected specimens and types of newly described taxa were deposited in the museums of Madrid and Barcelona and the results of the surveys published in the journal EOS. In total, 356 species and subspecies of Polyneoptera, Coleoptera and Hymenoptera have been collected. This large-scale entomological survey is presently little considered, mainly because the published locality names are no more in use and difficult to georeference. We have reconstructed the routes of the eight missions carried out by Morales Agacino, Giner Marí and Mateu Sanpere using old maps of the Spanish Sahara (1949) and recent maps of southern Morocco. 134 collection sites have been identified, listed with old and actual toponyms, geographical coordinates and elements of topographical descriptions. Lists of the species collected during these expeditions for the Insecta Orthoptera, Blattodea, Mantodea, Dermaptera, Phasmatodea, Coleoptera (Carabidae Latreille, 1802 and Tenebrionidae Latreille, 1802), and Hymenoptera (Sphecidae Latreille, 1802, Crabronidae Latreille, 1802, Pompilidae Latreille, 1805, Bradynobaenidae Saussure, 1892 and Mutillidae Latreille, 1802) are given. The scientific value of these data for taxonomy and conservation is illustrated for the Orthoptera Acridomorpha: within the Dericorythidae Jacobson & Bianchi, 1905, the type locality of Bolivaremia domenechi Morales Agacino, 1949 is identified and described; and the synonymy of Pamphagulus mateui Morales Agacino, 1949 and Pamphagulus vicinus Ramme, 1931 is reanalysed using distributional data. Examples of acridomorph Saharan and Mediterranean indicator species are given, using their separate distributions in the local west-east climate continuum. The coherence of the surveys carried out by Morales Agacino and his collaborators provide a most valuable reference inventory for the characterization of the Sahara fauna and its transformations since 1950; its use will be facilitated by the proposed up-date of geographical data.","PeriodicalId":51223,"journal":{"name":"Zoosystema","volume":"44 1","pages":"227 - 258"},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43881238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the relatively stable results obtained, herein: 1) the transfer of Paradiscocyrtus cerayanus Roewer, 1929 to Discocyrtus Holmberg, 1878 (forming Discocyrtus cerayanus n. comb.) is proposed, and Paradiscocyrtus becomes monotypic (represented only by its type species); 2) the assignment of Paradiscocyrtus trochanteralis Roewer, 1929 (already detected as junior synonym of Bunopachylus orientalis (Roewer, 1913)) to Roeweriinae Carvalho & Kury, 2018 is corroborated; 3) the presence of Paradiscocyrtus in DRMN-group is detected and its relationship with Discocyrtus sensu stricto is discussed. Paradiscocyrtus can be separated from Discocyrtus s. str. by some external characters (as dorsal scutum gamma-type, a pair of finger-phalanx-shaped spines on the scutal area III and coxa IV retrolateral apophysis with the same length as the prolateral) and genital characters (as the stylus of glans slightly dorsally convex). Discocyrtus cerayanus n. comb. is herein redescribed, and its geographic distribution is contested. The meaning of “Ceraya”, assigned to the specimen SMF RII 996/53 (male holotype of Paradiscocyrtus cerayanus), is newly attributed to “Serra do Caraça”, a mountain range in Minas Gerais, Brazil instead of Northeastern Brazilian “Ceará”.","PeriodicalId":51223,"journal":{"name":"Zoosystema","volume":"44 1","pages":"209 - 225"},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44189603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The interpretation of the name has baffled arachnologists for more than two centuries. Here we describe the historical development of the evolving interpretations and show that the name is certainly not a senior synonym of Alopecosa barbipes (Sundevall, 1833) or A. farinosa (Herman, 1879). To stabilise the nomenclature, we select a neotype for Lycosa accentuata consistent with the original description; consequently the name is confirmed as a junior subjective synonym of Araneus trabalis Clerck, 1757, valid name Alopecosa trabalis (Clerck, 1757). This action helps to finally stabilise the nomenclature of an important species pair of great interest for evolutionary and conservation biology.","PeriodicalId":51223,"journal":{"name":"Zoosystema","volume":"44 1","pages":"197 - 207"},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46804366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These are taxonomically complicated species that were recently, either resurrected (D. proarchos Wall, 1909, D. biloreatus Wall, 1908) or redefined (D. cyanochloris (Wall, 1921)). In the light of morphological and molecular data, we confirm the validity of D. proarchos from Mizoram, Northeast India, and subsequently confer the specimen of D. pictus (Gmelin, 1789) (CHS791) from Hainan (China) to D. proarchos. We also provide the first molecular phylogenetic data for the lesser-known species D. biloreatus as well as the first molecular samples of D. cyanochloris from Mizoram, Northeast India which seems to be the closest sample from Darjeeling, India (type locality). Apart from this, we also affirm the southwestern population in the distribution range of the latter species as D. cyanochloris sensu stricto, while conferring the southern population from Pinag Island, Malaysia to D. vogeli Jiang, Ren, Guo, Wang, Ding & Li, 2020, and the northeastern populations comprising Kachin (Myanmar), Tibet, Yunnan and Hainan (China) to D. ngansonensis (Bourret, 1935). Our present mitochondrial gene trees using the genes 16S rRNA, COI, and Cytb suggest the presence of cryptic diversity within several Dendrelaphis species, which will require rigorous genetic sampling and integrative taxonomic analysis to examine whether these lineages represent distinct species. This study also presents natural history and additional data on the distributional localities of Dendrelaphis species from Mizoram State, Northeast India.","PeriodicalId":51223,"journal":{"name":"Zoosystema","volume":"44 1","pages":"177 - 196"},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42320242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
