The study considered all 27 plastic bottling firms registered by Mombasa County Department of Trade. Stratified random sampling techniques was used to select sample size and Slovin’s formula was adopted to get the sample size for the study. Primary data was collected by use of structured questionnaires. Collected data was analyzed by employing descriptive and inferential statistics as the data analysis techniques. Descriptive statistics gives the profile of the respondents, that is, the frequencies and their percentages; whereas inferential statistics adopts a hierarchical, moderated, multiple regression analysis model in order to determine the effect of the explanatory variable. Statistical Package for Social Science was used as the data analysis tool. Data was presented in frequency and descriptive tables. \u0000Findings: The study established that there is a correlation of 0.748 between reverse logistics and performance of plastic bottling firms in Mombasa County. Reverse logistics accounted for 56.0% of the variation in the performance of plastic bottling firms in Mombasa County. \u0000Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Systems theory was adopted and validated. By incorporating linking the entire supply chain, Systems theory could assist plastic bottling firms in developing a seamless sustainable reverse logistics. The study revealed that successfully implementing reverse logistics; minimize unnecessary costs, protect the environment and increase firm returns.","PeriodicalId":512018,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Supply Chain Management","volume":"45 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141713458","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To explore the current issue in detail, particularly the COVID-19 ramifications on port operations and supply chains, the current study aims to appraise key stakeholders' perspectives regarding specific COVID-19 impacts posed on the port operational processes within the areas of Kuching Port Authority, Miri Port Authority, and Rajang Port Authority in Sarawak. This study adopted the qualitative research methodology by conducting indepth interviews and the software Archive for Technology, Lifeworld, and Everyday Language text interpretation (ATLAS.ti) to systematically extract and analyse emerging data trends. This research revealed that Sarawak ports were significantly affected in terms of scheduling and resources, namely finance, manpower, equipment, and spare parts. This study contributed to the existing body of knowledge by highlighting the COVID-19 impacts on port operations and supply chains. The findings could be applicable in benchmarking and guiding future port management systems.","PeriodicalId":512018,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Supply Chain Management","volume":" 19","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141367770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Achieving comprehensive visibility across multiple layers of the supply chain can significantly impact operational efficiency, cost optimization, customer satisfaction and trust. However, attaining supply chain visibility presents various challenges including fragmented data systems, interoperability issues, diverse supplier networks, data quality concerns, and geographical dispersion. Emerging technologies have a great potential to play key role in solving these challenges and facilitating improved supply chain visibility for enterprises. This study aims to provide insights that can inform and guide enterprises to effectively leverage the power of emerging technologies to gain better visibility into their supply chain operations. This paper is based on a comprehensive examination of 30 literary works to provide a thorough analysis of the subject matter. By synthesizing extant research, and practical case studies of large enterprises, the review has uncovered critical insights into the implications of supply chains visibility for both theory and practice in the field of supply chain management, particularly emphasizing the role of technology solutions and case studies. In addition, the integration of case studies provides concrete examples of how leading enterprises are leveraging technology to overcome visibility challenges and achieve operational excellence.","PeriodicalId":512018,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Supply Chain Management","volume":" 47","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141367741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study scrutinizes the multifaceted relationship between geopolitical risks and disruptions in maritime supply chains, with a concentration key influences and their consequences. The research syndicates case studies, data analysis, and current affairs, to provide a comprehensive examination of the matter. The findings highlight that geopolitical risks, such as political instability, conflicts, terrorism, and trade disputes, can disrupt maritime supply chains in numerous ways. These disruptions can be apparent as port closures, commotions like shipping routes, increased insurance expenses, and heightened security dealings. Such disruptions have extensive significance including amplified costs, abridged reliability, supply chain blockages, and a negative influence on international trade streams. The novelty of the study is that it takes a regional approach, inspecting how geopolitical risk influences the maritime supply chain in different geographical areas. This provides a more nuanced and universal understanding of the matter, beyond just a state perspective.","PeriodicalId":512018,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Supply Chain Management","volume":" 15","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141367801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
