This study examines the impact of urban green spaces on mitigating the UHI effect in four major Spanish cities: Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, and Valencia. Using high-resolution satellite imagery, ground-based temperature measurements, and advanced GIS and statistical modeling techniques, we quantified the temperature differences between green and non-green urban areas. Our findings indicate that green spaces, including parks, street trees, and green roofs, significantly reduce urban temperatures, with parks exhibiting the highest cooling effects. The spatial analysis revealed that UHI hotspots are concentrated in densely built-up areas, while green spaces effectively mitigate these effects. Seasonal variations show that the cooling benefits of green spaces are more pronounced during the summer months. This study highlights the importance of incorporating diverse and well-distributed green spaces in urban planning to enhance thermal comfort, reduce energy consumption, and improve urban livability. Policy recommendations are provided to guide the integration of green infrastructure in climate adaptation strategies for Spanish cities.","PeriodicalId":511174,"journal":{"name":"Innovation in Science and Technology","volume":"151 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141133686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a global health problem with epidemic proportions and a huge economic burden. The dipeptidyl peptidase (DPP-4) inhibitors are a new class of antihyperglycaemic agents that are developed for the treatment of T2D. Many clinical studies have suggested that DPP-4 inhibitors (gliptins) are safe from cardiovascular perspective, and may also possess cardioprotective effect. These are regulators of inflammation and metabolism, and also prevent the proteolytic breakdown. These reduce postprandial glucose with minimal risk of hypoglycaemia and gastrointestinal adverse effects. These increase biologically intact forms of glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), both of which enhance glucose-induced insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells. These medications become popular and are widely used worldwide for their efficacy, safety, weight neutrality, and tolerability. This article reviews basic studies of the DPP-4 inhibitors in briefly for the management of T2D.","PeriodicalId":511174,"journal":{"name":"Innovation in Science and Technology","volume":"133 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141134748","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research focuses on designing, implementing, and evaluating RWHS tailored to local climatic, topographical, and social conditions. By capturing and storing rainwater, these systems reduce reliance on groundwater, improve local water management, and provide a sustainable water source for domestic and agricultural use. Key components of an effective RWHS include rooftop catchments, gutters, downpipes, storage tanks, and filtration units. The study also involves community engagement, training, and capacity-building to ensure the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of the systems. Performance monitoring and data collection on water usage patterns and system reliability are essential to optimize the RWHS. The economic and social impacts, as well as the environmental benefits, are assessed to provide comprehensive insights into the benefits and challenges of RWHS implementation. Policy recommendations and support mechanisms are proposed to promote the widespread adoption of RWHS in rural communities, enhancing water security and sustainability.","PeriodicalId":511174,"journal":{"name":"Innovation in Science and Technology","volume":"98 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141134528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this limits the readability of the data when there is a need to. Clarity and understanding are essential indicators of a usable system as a complex but functioning system is of no value to the user if the data are not presented in a simple readable format. A Graphic User Interface (GUI) with a simplistic design is presented to solve this problem by rendering only necessary blockchain data while considering supplementary details that are usually hidden. 5 blockchain scenarios are created for this purpose. The activities and potential data involved are clearly stated. The raw blockchain data on a high level are recorded in form of JavaScript Object Notification (JSON). Attention is given to supplementary details from the raw blockchain data while translating them into graphical form. Results were presented in three different forms (raw blockchain data, complex GUI, and the simplistic GUI) to different categories of users and their comments were compared and analyzed. Since human computer interaction is an essential factor in user’s readability, the GUI rendered in this work is an enhancement to the blockchain technology as seen in the result which shows the simplistic GUI as the best understood interface even by a novice among the three.","PeriodicalId":511174,"journal":{"name":"Innovation in Science and Technology","volume":"7 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140269602","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The effects of DM are long-term damage, dysfunction and failure of various organs. Metformin is a common first-line treatment for type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients. It is one of the oldest treatments for diabetes, dating back to the 1960s. Some scholars in their studies have found that Metformin used by mothers is safe for their breastfeed infants. Most T2D breastfeeding mothers choice Metformin for their initial treatment of diabetes. Sometimes Metformin is found in low levels in the serum of breastfed infants. But no adverse effects are seen when breastfeeding women use Metformin as an oral medication. Although metformin does not lower plasma glucose, it should be used by breastfeeding mothers very carefully and should stop immediately if any side effect is observable.","PeriodicalId":511174,"journal":{"name":"Innovation in Science and Technology","volume":"37 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140270291","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through a comparative study between Classical Laminate Plate Theory (CLPT) calculations and Finite Element (FE) analysis, discrepancies in stress and strain predictions are identified, attributing them to assumptions made in each method. Furthermore, the essay explores failure prediction using Tsai-Wu criteria and Maximum Stress theory, determining the safety of laminates under different loading scenarios. Additionally, Finite Element analysis is employed to assess the impact of layup design variations on safety factors, leading to recommendations for optimized designs. The limitations of FE models compared to physical tests are discussed, along with alternative approaches such as advanced manufacturing techniques and novel fiber architectures to further enhance safety factors and alter failure modes.","PeriodicalId":511174,"journal":{"name":"Innovation in Science and Technology","volume":"186 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140270776","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
