The study aim was to establish the relationship between personality, ruminations (intrusive and deliberate) and secondary traumatic stress symptoms, including the mediating role of ruminations, in a group of police officers exposed to secondary trauma.</p><p><strong>Participants and procedure: </strong>A group of 235 police officers working, at least partly, with trauma victims were surveyed. The age of the participants ranged from 30 to 60 years (<i>M</i> = 40.79, <i>SD</i> = 3.96). Three questionnaires were used: the Secondary Traumatic Stress Inventory, the NEO Five-Factor Inventory and the Event-Related Rumination Inventory.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The results demonstrate a rather low level of STS among police officers. Ruminations, particularly intrusive ones, were more strongly connected with symptoms of STS than personality traits. Neuroticism correlated more strongly with STS than other personality traits, and extraversion was not connected with any negative effects of secondary trauma exposure. The conducted analysis confirmed that ruminations act as mediators in the relationship between neuroticism and STS.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>Although the police officers working with trauma victims revealed low levels of STS symptoms, it is nevertheless advisable to ameliorate, if not prevent, them. However, one of the main drawbacks of parallel mechanisms is their limited workspace. To solve this problem, various researchers have tried to maximize their available workspace by addressing the nonlinear and complex input-output relationships of those mechanisms. Carretero et al. (2000) applied the quasi-Newton with Hessian update method to find the optimal structural parameters for maximizing workspace volume. Lou et al. (2005) employed a controlled random search method to maximize the effective regular workspace. Hosseini et al. (2011) divided Jacobian entries by units of length to produce a homogeneous twist array for the convenience of workspace optimization. Herrero et al. (2005) proposed a combined geometrical and discretization method for obtaining the most useful workspace containing the largest geometric volume. Che et al. (2020) employed the differential evolution algorithm to solve design problems related to maximizing the effective volume of transmission positional workspace. Shin et al. (2011) applied the Taguchi method to choose the most influential parameters in the optimization of workspace. However, from a macroscopic perspective, the fixed base of a parallel mechanism still physically limits its available workspace. With this issue in mind, several researchers suggested changing the fixed base into moveable bases in order to achieve unlimited workspace, and two types of moveable parallel mechanism types have been proposed. One is a parallel mechanism fixed on a wheeled mobile robot, as shown in Fig. 1(a) (Chong et al., 2020; Fujita and Sugawara, 2014; Moosavian et al., 2009; Yamamoto and Yun, 1996). This type achieves unlimited workspace because the position and orientation of the base on the ground can be changed by moving the mobile robot. In this type, the output platform Type synthesis of 6-DOF mobile parallel link mechanisms based on screw theory","PeriodicalId":51070,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Mechanical Design Systems and Manufacturing","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.9,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66252212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aiming at the design and processing of the toroidal worm roughing allowance, this paper studies the design method of the toroidal worm roughing allowance surface, and proposes a machining method of the allowance surface used in an ordinary CNC lathe. First, according to the forming principle of the dual-cone enveloping toroidal worm, the helical surfaces of the multi-thread toroidal worm with a given throat tooth thickness are established. Then, each point on the helical surface is rotated by an allowance angle around the axis of the worm, and the mathematical model of the roughing allowance surface is established by setting the arc length of each point rotation equally. The designed allowance surface is discretized into a series of helical lines, and a series of helical lines are discretized into points. The cone helical line interpolation is used between two adjacent points for turning the allowance surface based on an ordinary CNC lathe. Based on the axial indexing method, different helical lines can be machined by adjusting the starting points X and Z of the tool when processing helical surfaces at different positions. Through research, the allowance equalization and rough machining of the variable-lead enveloping helical surface are realized, which provides a new method for the processing of complex and special-shaped helical surfaces.","PeriodicalId":51070,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Mechanical Design Systems and Manufacturing","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.9,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66252305","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
