Both Black men and men 70–80 years old are at high risk for high‐grade prostate cancer. Despite that some groups recommend against PSA‐ and DRE‐based prostate cancer screening in men 70 years of age and older without regard to high‐risk factors. The authors present results of a study of prostate biopsy characteristics of men 70–80 years of age to determine whether they harbor a concerning incidence of high‐grade prostate cancer and should be offered screening.","PeriodicalId":509037,"journal":{"name":"Trends in Urology & Men's Health","volume":"59 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140730225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Making patients aware of these prior to starting ADT and assessing any specific risks during discussions is key to optimising outcomes. A brief checklist for health care professionals to use with patients, such as the one presented here, can aid discussions and facilitate signposting to appropriate specialist services without increasing workload.","PeriodicalId":509037,"journal":{"name":"Trends in Urology & Men's Health","volume":"19 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140222395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
