New species of mirid insects and their importance for the higher classification of plant bugs. Acta Palaeontologica Polonica 68 (1): 75–83. The detailed morphological study based on the findings of well-preserved fossil specimens in Eocene Baltic amber revealed two new species, Metoisops michalskii Kim, Taszakowski, and Herczek sp. nov. and Metoisops popovi Kim, Taszakowski, and Jung sp. nov. The morphological information of the extinct genus Metoisops including diagnoses, descriptions of new species, and a species key are provided. The divided fourth antennal segment is depicted. The tribal transfer of Metoisops from Electromyiommini to Gigantometopini is proposed based on major morphological characters, five-six femoral trichobothria, presence of a deep incision between calli, and the structure of parameres. The need for a phylogenetic revision of the internal classification within Isometopinae is also discussed.","PeriodicalId":50887,"journal":{"name":"Acta Palaeontologica Polonica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.8,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70480213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"地球科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Challenging its identity as a species of Orbitolinopsis , the most widely accepted classifications of agglutinated foraminifera reinstate Campanellula but retain its inclusion within the Orbitolinidae, subfamily Dictyoconinae. New material from the type locality and the San Lorenzello section (Matese Mountains, southern Apennines, Italy) as well as the construction of a 3D model allow to reinstate the original description as a low-to high-trochospirally (conical) coiled foraminifer with numerous chambers per whorl and to display an overall conical test morphology. An orbitolinid test construction including uniserial chambers (throughout the test or in its adult part) is absent. The conflicting opinions on taxonomic status of Campanellula are discussed leading to the removal from the order Loftusiina and the suborder Orbitolinina. Instead, Campanellula should be included into the order Lituolida and the suborder Verneuilinina. Campanellula capuensis represents a biostratigraphic and palaeobiogeographic marker taxon, restricted to upper Hauterivian–lower Barremian inner platform carbonates of the southern Neotethyan margin.","PeriodicalId":50887,"journal":{"name":"Acta Palaeontologica Polonica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.8,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70480784","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"地球科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Evidence for parallel development of ever-growing molars in Early Pleistocene rodents from southern Spain and their paleoenvironmental implications. Acta Palaeontologica Polonica 68 (2): 379–391. In this paper, we present a detailed survey on the rodent fauna from the site of Barranco de los Conejos (Guadix-Baza Basin, southern Spain). Its rodent fauna is composed of three arvicolines ( Orcemys giberti , Manchenomys oswaldoreigi , and Tibericola vandermeuleni ) and two murids ( Castillomys rivas and Apodemus atavus ). The three arvicoline species present ever-growing molars. Orcemys giberti and Manchenomys oswaldoreigi can be considered as descendants of local Mimomys species ( Mimomys medasensis and Mimomys tornensis , respectively), while Tibericola vandermeuleni is an eastern inmigrant. Loosening of roots in Orcemys giberti and Manchenomys oswaldoreigi is explained as an adaptation to a fossorial way of life, in relation to the Early Pleistocene glacial–interglacial dynamics, which led to cooler and drier conditions. This environmental change would also explain the dispersal of Tibericola from the eastern Mediterranean.","PeriodicalId":50887,"journal":{"name":"Acta Palaeontologica Polonica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.8,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70481000","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"地球科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
