This is due to the resistance of these organisms to some antibiotics of importance thereby rendering the drugs ineffective against diseases. The aim and objective of this research is therefore to evaluate the antimicrobial potency and bioactive compounds of Persea americana leaf extract against specific bacteria that had previously been identified in the laboratory. Different solvents were used such as ethanol and sterile distilled water to extract the bioactive compounds of the plants and it showed a high level of potency against the isolates. The concentrations of the extracts used for the determination of zones of inhibition were 250µg/ml, 125µg/ml and 62.5µg/ml. The largest zone of inhibition was recorded against Salmonella typhi (14.00mm) while Escherichia coli had the lowest zone of inhibition (8.00mm) for plants extract using ethanol. Salmonella typhi had the largest zone of inhibition (16.00mm) while Escherichia coli had the lowest zone of inhibition (6.0 mm) when the plant was extracted using sterile distilled water. Phytochemical analysis of the extract revealed that both ethanolic and aqueous extract are rich in saponins, tannins, flavonoids, alkaloids and steroids. Conclusively, P. americana can be utilized as an effective antibiotic substitute for the treatment of infections caused by Salmonella typhi and Escherichia coli. This is as a result of its demonstrated antibacterial activity.","PeriodicalId":507853,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Sciences & Development","volume":"114 14","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141822034","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there are very few people willing to buy them, since today electric cars are very expensive. So the development of the personal light electric transport segment (electric bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, etc.) becomes very relevant. At the same time, the introduction of new technologies (in particular, 3D printing) and constructions (airless wheels) for their mass production is of particular importance. The range of problems that can be solved by modern additive technologies is expanding every day. FDM technology is one of the most commonly used additive methods. It is not only widely available, but it also provides significant possibilities for decision-making. However, most developments in this area are focused on obtaining the geometric accuracy of shapes without taking into account the mechanical properties of materials used. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate experimentally the influence of filling density of parts manufactured by 3D printing on their mechanical properties and application of obtained results for the production of airless tires by using FDM technology.","PeriodicalId":507853,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Sciences & Development","volume":"85 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140968028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Volatile oil price and COVID-19 pandemic required oil and gas companies to re-evaluate their supply chain strategies to minimise the impact. One of the strategies was to build better relationships with suppliers. Based on literature, services procurement is much more complex than goods procurement. The literature reviewed the topic of the oil and gas industry, outsourcing and subcontracting and supplier relationship management. In details, different elements of supplier relationship management are discussed such as its model, benefits, influencing factors and types of suppliers and relationships were discussed. From the literature review, a conceptual framework was developed. “Case study” is adopted as the research method as it provides sophisticated insight on the research topic. Four companies were interviewed to understand the supplier relationship management process. The research findings show that there are different supplier relationship management processes adopted by the four companies selected for case study. All companies agreed that they gained benefits with better supplier relationships. However, all the companies are facing difficulties in implementation of supplier relationship management. In addition, the interviewees expect their suppliers to be more competent in terms of cost, time and quality to contribute to a better buyer-supplier relationship. The conceptual framework is revised based on the research findings and presented as one of the findings.","PeriodicalId":507853,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Sciences & Development","volume":" 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141000156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This specific member is exclusively found below the surface, devoid of any exposed outcrops, and is characterized by the presence of easily identifiable orbitolinid limestone. Well logging techniques, such as Gamma Ray and Density measurements, prove particularly effective in identifying this distinct layer. The primary objective of this study was to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the lithostratigraphy and microstratigraphy within the Gadvan formation, with a specific emphasis on the Khalij limestone member. A regional stratigraphic assessment covered an extensive area of about 100,000 square kilometers in the Fars and Dezful regions within the Zagros region. To achieve this, data from 38 exploration and development wells were utilized, and approximately 1,400 microscopic thin sections from the Gadvan formation were meticulously examined. The paramount contribution of this research lies in the establishment of a representative type section for the Khalij limestone member, characterized by a thickness of 13 meters. Detailed microscopic analysis has revealed that this member predominantly comprises wackestone carbonate, featuring microfossils, particularly foraminifera from the orbitolindae family. Based on the observed species index, it has been determined to be of Barremian age and linked to a lagoon-like depositional environment.","PeriodicalId":507853,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Sciences & Development","volume":"57 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139223223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Lactobacillus spp were isolated from milk samples while fifty strains of Uropathogenic Escherichia coli were isolated from urine samples from Urinary Tract Infection patients attending Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Owerri, Nigeria. Ten of the E. coli strains resistant to streptomycin antibiotics were screened for their susceptibility to antibiofilm effect of Lactobacillus secondary metabolites extracts. From the result obtained, only one of the E. coli strains was susceptible while nine strains were resistant. This result shows clearly that the metabolite extracts from Lactobacillus sp were not effective in the antibiofilm activity of the E. coli strains and thus not a good candidate for the management of UTI caused by E. coli.","PeriodicalId":507853,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Sciences & Development","volume":"231 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139229353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
