Objectives: The aim of the present study was to investigate the prevalence of triple complications among female athletes of Isfahan University. Methods: For this purpose, 141 Female athletes with an age range of 19 - 25 years in six different sports fields were selected as available samples. Anthropometric indices were measured using a height meter and a scale. To determine eating disorders from the questionnaire (EAT-26) and the general menstrual status questionnaire was used to evaluate the menstrual status and disorder. Results: The results showed that 91.48% of the participants had regular menstrual cycle and 8.52% had irregular menstrual cycle. In the current research, there were no people whose score was higher than 20 or equal to it. Also, female athletes did not have eating disorder or taking diuretic drugs to control and lose severe weight. To analyze the data, independent t-tests, one-way analysis of variance, and Tukey's post hoc test were used. Conclusions: Despite the studies, it seems that due to the increase in the level of awareness among female university students, the prevalence of triple complications is less. Therefore, it is suggested that in future studies, different levels of athletes should be investigated in terms of the prevalence of triple complications.","PeriodicalId":506449,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Clinical Research in Paramedical Sciences","volume":"36 39","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141117859","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This disorder causes mistrust towards others and may interfere with a person's ability to form close relationships. Objectives: The present study aimed to investigate the effects of transcranial direct-current stimulation (tDCS) on impulsivity and anxiety in patients with PPD. Methods: This quasi-experimental research adopted a pretest-posttest control group design. The statistical population included all patients aged 30 – 50 years with PPD referred to psychological and psychiatric clinics and hospitals in Yazd, (Iran), in 2022. Convenience sampling was employed to select 30 individuals with PPD. The participants were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 15) and a control (n = 15) group using a table of random numbers. The participants completed impulsivity and anxiety questionnaires during the pretest and posttest stages. The experimental group received ten 20-minute sessions of tDCS. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS v25.0. Results: The participants included 30 men and women with PPD with an average age of 41.23 ± 8.40 years. In the posttest, the mean ± SD of impulsivity for tDCS and control groups were 54.67 ± 4.03 and 93.93 ± 3.67, respectively. Moreover, the mean ± SD of anxiety in tDCS and control groups in the posttest were 16.40 ± 2.79 and 42.39 ± 2.99, respectively. The results indicated that tDCS significantly improved impulsivity and reduced anxiety at the posttest stage (P < 0.001). Conclusions: Transcranial direct-current stimulation can alleviate impulsivity and anxiety in patients with PPD. Therefore, therapists can implement the tDCS method as a complementary therapy to improve impulsivity and anxiety in patients with PPD.","PeriodicalId":506449,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Clinical Research in Paramedical Sciences","volume":" 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140681443","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objectives: The present study aimed to investigate the effects of emotionally focused therapy (EFT) on the emotional autonomy and emotion regulation of students with depression symptoms. Methods: This quasi-experimental research adopted a pretest-posttest control group design with follow-up. The statistical population included all high school students with depression symptoms in Ahvaz, (Iran) in the academic year 2022–2023. The purposive sampling technique was employed to select 30 students with depression symptoms. They were then randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 15) and a control group (n = 15). Participants in the experimental group attended ten 45-minute sessions of EFT once a week, whereas those in the control group were placed on a waiting list. The research instruments included the Emotional Autonomy Scale (EAS) and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ). The obtained data were entered into the SPSS v23. The repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) was then used to analyze the research data. A P-value of less than 0.05 was considered significant. Results: The mean ± SD of emotional autonomy, reappraisal, and suppression was 24.60 ± 3.96, 21.53 ± 2.99, and 18.93 ± 2.21 on the pretest, whereas it was 31.53 ± 4.30, 29.60 ± 2.47, and 12.00±2.00 on the posttest. According to the results, EFT enhanced emotional autonomy and improved emotion regulation strategies (i.e., reappraisal and suppression) in students with depression symptoms (P < 0.001). Conclusions: In conclusion, EFT managed to improve emotional autonomy and emotion regulation strategies in students with depression symptoms. EFT can be recommended as an effective intervention to improve emotion regulation in students with depression symptoms.","PeriodicalId":506449,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Clinical Research in Paramedical Sciences","volume":"78 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140433514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A pathogen that causes a large range of infections i.e. chronic as well as acute, with considerable levels of mortality and morbidity. Infections of P. aeruginosa are extremely hard to eliminate because of the presence of several virulence determinants as well as the intrinsic resistance against antibiotics. The present study investigated the detection of the virulence genes by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) namely oprL and lasB in the P. aeruginosa that were isolated detection from both human and animal specimens. 120 specimens of P. aeruginosa including samples were then collected from hospitals and veterinary laboratories, from which 55 isolates of P. aeruginosa were identified and selected. Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains were present in 40% of animal sample isolates and 86% of human sample isolates. The PCR results showed that oprL genes were detected in 54.16% of isolates obtained from animal samples and 80.76% of isolates obtained from human samples. While, the lasB gene was present at 58.33% and 92.30% in the isolates obtained from animal and human samples, respectively. Our results also showed the coexistence of both virulence genes in 32.34% of animal sample isolates and 25.10% of human sample isolations. The detection of gene oprL and lasB by the PCR technique can be effectively used for the molecular-level identification of P. aeruginosa. The identification of such virulence genes in P. aeruginosa isolates suggests that these may be linked with varying degrees of the pathogenesis and inherent virulence in this pathogen.","PeriodicalId":506449,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Clinical Research in Paramedical Sciences","volume":"16 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140503132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Macrolide Lincosamide-Streptogramin B (MLSB) antibiotics are the therapeutic choices for treatment of infections due to methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA) isolates. The most frequent mechanism for inducible resistance in S. aureus is modification in target site by erm (erythromycin ribosome methylase) genes. Objectives: The aim of this research was to determine inducible MLSB (iMLSB) and detection the erm genes in clinical samples of S. aureus isolated from hospitalized patients in the Imam Reza hospital of Kermanshah, west of Iran. Methods: This study performed on 126 samples of S. aureus. Identification of isolates were performed using microbiological and biochemical procedures. Inducible resistance to clindamycin was tested by D-test. The prevalence of genes, such as femB, mecA, ermA and ermB was assessed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Results: Eighty-three cases (65.9%) of isolates were methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA). The resistance rate against erythromycin and clindamycin was 67.4% and 52.2%, respectively. Totally, 49 cases (38.9%) of isolates were resistant to both erythromycin and clindamycin indicating constitutive MLSB phenotype (cMLSB); 20 cases (15.9%) isolates showed positive D test indicating inducible MLSB phenotype (iMLSB), while 16 cases (12.7%) were negative for D test indicating MS phenotype. Among 20 cases with iMLSB phenotype, ermC and ermA genes were showed in 7 cases (35%) and 4 cases (20%) isolates, respectively. The ermB gene is not detected in any cases and 9 cases (45%) isolates did not have any erm genes. Conclusions: In general, findings of this study showed high frequency of resistance to clindamycin and erythromycin among S. aureus isolates and cMLSB to be the most pattern phenotype and ermC gene is the most common gene in iMLSB phenotype. Because variation of antimicrobial resistance pattern in geographic regions obtaining local results is useful for detecting and more appropriate control of nosocomial infection due to S. aureus isolates.","PeriodicalId":506449,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Clinical Research in Paramedical Sciences","volume":"29 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140509881","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
