A church music ministry exists to develop a comprehensive music programme that ministers to all areas of the church’s life. An effective music ministry, therefore, provides the church with good music that members may use for worship, education and evangelism. The study adopts literary and theological approaches and engages pertinent scholarly literature. It discusses the value of music ministry to the congregation, the choir, the instrumentalists who play musical instruments and individuals who lead in the ministry. Furthermore, the study examines the various activities of the music ministry and factors that must be considered when organising a church’s music ministry. Finally, the paper discusses the criteria for enlisting leaders and workers for the music ministry. The study concludes that an effective music ministry must be put in place if the church music will be functional within the church.","PeriodicalId":505049,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advances in Education and Philosophy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141677424","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mathematics is a veritable tool in the understanding of science and technology. Despite the importance, the trend of secondary school students’ performance in Mathematics in external examinations is worrisome. Perhaps, non-availability of standardized achievement test for formative assessment or for promoting the students to the certificate class could be the cause. The purpose of this study was to develop and standardize Mathematics Achievement Test (MAT) for unified senior secondary school class 2 promotion examination in Ondo State. Seventy five SSS2 students randomly selected from Akoko metropolis of the state constituted the sample. MAT for SSS2 was the instrument for this study. The instrument was developed and standardized following various stages of test development and standardization processes. Out of the initial 75 items drafted, 50 items formed the final MAT. The final MAT was valid and reliable. The reliability coefficients were (0.97 and 0.89) using test retest and Kuder-Richardson-20 methods of reliability respectively. From the results obtained, the following conclusions were drawn: The MAT was developed by the researcher, the validated test items were in line with the mathematics curriculum for senior secondary school class 2 students in Ondo State, the developed and validated MAT exhibited good measure of difficulty and discrimination indices. Based on the findings and the conclusion of this study, it was recommended among others that the developed MAT should be used by mathematics teachers teaching senior secondary school class two students in Ondo State and the examination unit of the Ondo State Ministry of Education should make use of this MAT to improve on the quality of their examinations.","PeriodicalId":505049,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advances in Education and Philosophy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140080681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main purpose of the study was to assess adolescents’ HRQoL during the two strict lockdowns due to COVID-19. Secondary aims were to examine differences in HRQoL with regard to gender, and physical activity/sport participation before and during lockdowns. It was a cross-sectional study and conducted during first and second strict lockdowns. Three hundred and sixty-three adolescents (Ν=363) from secondary schools, in the Greek territory (108 boys and 255 girls) filled in the TNO-AZL Questionnaire for Children’s Health-Related Quality of Life Children’s Form, online, once. Also, demographic and anthropometric data were collected. For all TACQOL-CF subscales results showed that scores were lower, than the maximum subscales scores. Also, adolescents’ responses to open questions supported further the low subscales scores. In addition, adolescents who participated in sport before lockdowns reported better scores in motor functioning/performance during lockdowns than their non-physically active peers (p<0.05). Moreover, girls reported significantly lower scores compared to boys in general physical functioning/complaints subscale (p<0.05). The findings of this study highlighted that during the two strict quarantines adolescents’ HRQoL was deteriorated. Sport participation before the pandemic influenced positive HRQoL during quarantines and also quarantines affected differently adolescents by gender. Thus, the results should give information in adopting preventive strategies by policy makers to alleviate long-term negative consequences, in order adolescents to gain pre-pandemic HRQoL levels, in the transitional post-COVID-19 era.","PeriodicalId":505049,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advances in Education and Philosophy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139630248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
