Our innovative dataset and contemporary text analytics methodology allowed us to develop interesting insights and identify various patterns in the disclosure of cybersecurity risks that publicly traded companies face. Our experimental market results suggest that nonprofessional investors presented with whole-number quarterly earnings exhibit insensitivity to the large numbers (i.e., psychophysical numbing). Further, we find evidence suggesting that investors in the whole-number condition net the rehashed quarterly earnings information with current quarterly earnings information to counteract the psychophysical numbing effects, whereas those in the earnings per share (small-number) condition display a representativeness bias toward positive news when processing the rehashed information. Our results indicate that a firm can influence investor decisions when managers strategically disseminate larger whole numbers and rehash positive earnings information. Thus, our findings contribute novel information to the extant social media literature.\u0000 Data Availability: Data are available from the first author upon request.","PeriodicalId":50486,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Information Systems","volume":"22 1","pages":"1-20"},"PeriodicalIF":9.5,"publicationDate":"2023-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72693698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the emergence of new digital innovations and diverse and rich data sources, only those organisations that can adapt faster and make better, quicker decisions will become more competitive. Yet, being a first mover is only the start of the transformation process. Organisations need to address and implement digital strategies to manage and sustain a digital transformation in order to stay with, or ahead of, their competition. In this article, we outline some of the key challenges associated with researching digital transformations within the information systems (IS) field and stress the importance of shifting the focus on how digital transformations are managed and sustained. To explore this further, we launched a Special Issue on “Managing and Sustaining Digital Transformations” and received a large volume of submissions. After a series of reviews and revisions, we were delighted to unearth four excellent articles on this important topic. Our hope with this Special Issue is to improve researchers’ abilities to identify the importance of managing and sustaining digital transformations and to encourage them to build on these contributions to better unpack the digital transformation process for the future.","PeriodicalId":50486,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Information Systems","volume":"32 1","pages":"347 - 353"},"PeriodicalIF":9.5,"publicationDate":"2023-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"59505096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This new genre is called “Clinical IS Research” and adds to the existing set of genres that was introduced some years ago (Te’eni et al., 2015). The addition of this new genre follows the publication of the first issue of EJIS this year which was a special issue entitled “Clinical Research from Information Systems Practice”. The editors of this special issue define clinical IS research as “a research genre that generates knowledge from, and establishes the effectiveness of, practitioner-researcher interventions in achieving desired outcomes in information systems development, use, and management practice contexts” (Baskerville et al., 2023, p. 2). The editors say that their goal is “to move practitionerresearchers within the Information Systems discipline from being commentators and consumers of Information Systems research to having an active voice in producing research to inspire others within the field (Baskerville et al., 2023, p. 8). I agree entirely with this goal. I believe that we, as IS scholars, need to engage with practitioners more effectively. One way of doing this is to encourage practitioners who have the required research training to contribute their knowledge and expertise to our academic journals. This new genre on clinical IS research is described on the EJIS website as follows:","PeriodicalId":50486,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Information Systems","volume":"32 1","pages":"107 - 107"},"PeriodicalIF":9.5,"publicationDate":"2023-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42675600","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
