First, the YOLOv7-tiny target detection model is improved by the introduction of the spatially invariant multi-attention mechanism (SimAM) and the weighted bidirectional feature pyramid network (BiFPN). This also improves the feature enhancements and feature fusion ability of the model, balances various scales of characteristic information, and increases the positioning accuracy of the text test box. Then, a multi-head attention hybrid (MAH) mechanism is implemented to optimize the convolutional recurrent neural network with connectionist temporal classification (CRNN+CTC) so that the model could learn data features with larger weights and increase the recognition accuracy of the model. The findings indicate that the enhanced YOLOv7-tiny model achieves 97.39%, 98.62%, and 95.07% of precision, recall, and mean average precision (mAP), respectively, on the detection dataset. The improved MAH-CRNN+CTC model achieves 91.2% character recognition accuracy in the recognition dataset.","PeriodicalId":503838,"journal":{"name":"Frontiers in Energy Research","volume":"61 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140973192","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Generally, the different distributed energy sources are assembled to form the microgrid architecture, and the majority of the sources are environment-dependent. Furthermore, the intermittent power output from these sources causes a generation–load power mismatch, resulting in power and frequency oscillations. In this regard, the proposed student psychology-based optimization-tuned cascaded controller tackles the power-frequency mismatch issues under an interconnected microgrid scenario. Additionally, an improved power tie-line model is introduced considering the effect of line resistance in the microgrid scenario, as line resistance plays a significant role in power flow between the control areas. In addition, numerous case studies are investigated to examine the effectiveness of the proposed design methodology under the suggested control scheme. Furthermore, a detailed performance analysis is carried out considering the proposed model operation under a 12-node radial distribution network in order to examine the system compatibility in a practical distribution network. The obtained results ensure superior performances in terms of the system’s overall peak over/undershoots, oscillations, and settling time utilizing the proposed controller under the improved microgrid scenario.","PeriodicalId":503838,"journal":{"name":"Frontiers in Energy Research","volume":"44 13","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140981319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Digital twins can transcend traditional two-dimensional interfaces by incorporating VR/AR/MR (XR) technology, providing immersive, intuitive, and interactive representations of systems, assets, and processes. Furthermore, real-time data from sensors, simulations, and other sources can be integrated into the XR-enabled digital twins, leading to better and more intuitive understanding and to more efficiently monitor, analyze, and maintain complex systems such as nuclear assets. Immersive, interactive, multi-player XR capabilities embedded in DTs will allow spatially accurate and more realistic representation, leading to improved risk assessment, optimized and predictive maintenance scheduling, enhanced situational awareness, and more effective communication among interdisciplinary teams. By combining the strengths of XR and digital twins, nuclear facilities can achieve heightened safety, operational efficiency, and decision-making accuracy. Marrying XR technology with digital twins is also likely to extend the utilization of digital twins to optimize those aspects of the design and operation of nuclear assets that involve human beings–specifically in human factors engineering. Training can also be significantly enhanced if DTs are linked with XR technology. These systems may also be used to assess human performance through human factors engineering for the safety analysis of nuclear assets. A specific example is assessing human performance in semi-autonomous nuclear assets or operating multiple nuclear assets. After briefly reviewing digital twins of nuclear systems from the perspective of XR technology, this paper summarises our work in the nuclear energy space on VR/AR/MR and how these can be integrated into the newly evolving DTs of nuclear assets. The paper also describes the potential use of such systems in optimizing the design and operations of nuclear systems. As XR technology advances, its symbiotic relationship with digital twins can significantly reshape the landscape of nuclear operations and asset management.","PeriodicalId":503838,"journal":{"name":"Frontiers in Energy Research","volume":"33 S122","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140224806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
