In addition, new automotive engineering designs often require improved magnetic characteristics, typically beyond the capabilities of the most widely used P/M materials for soft magnetic applications. The influence of modified chemical composition and processing parameters on the magnetic properties of several common P/M soft magnetic materials are discussed. Market opportunities for the utilization of advanced particulate materials are also considered. these include high speed steels, metal matrix composites and nanostructured alloys.
