It highlights how these collaborations can address unique challenges faced by HBCUs, offering insights into successful models and best practices for developing impactful partnerships. The significance of community partnerships lies in their potential to broaden access, improve curriculum relevance, and support student success, contributing to educational equity and innovation at HBCUs. The literature underscores the multifaceted benefits of such partnerships, including resource and technology access, alignment of educational programs with workforce needs, and comprehensive student support. Despite these advantages, the review identifies gaps in empirical research specifically linking community partnerships to online education enhancements at HBCUs, indicating a need for further study. In summary, community partnerships emerge as essential for advancing online education at HBCUs, providing a pathway towards educational equity and societal development. The review encourages policymakers, educators, and community leaders to foster these collaborations, leveraging their transformative potential for the benefit of HBCU students and the broader community.","PeriodicalId":502704,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Arts, Humanities & Social Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140250537","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Drawing upon signaling theory and social identity theory, we investigate the environmental, social, and governance issues, respectively, and ESG as a whole as the drivers of organizational attractiveness, especially in the eyes of job seekers. To this end, we adopted a deductive approach to finalize the 34-item ESG measurement. Next, we collected data from 106 participants, including 49 students about to graduate or social freshmen looking for work and 57 current employees. Our findings indicate that (1) environmental issue, social issue, governance issue, and ESG as a whole are positively and significantly related to organizational reputation, respectively, (2) organizational reputation is the critical linkage between environmental issue, social issue, governance issue, and ESG as a whole, respectively, and organizational attractiveness, and (3) organizational reputation, rather than organizational attractiveness, is an underlying mechanism in the relationships as mentioned above. This study contributes to the current ESG literature by revealing the significant implications for organizations concerning ESG implementation and organizational attractiveness.","PeriodicalId":502704,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Arts, Humanities & Social Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140248554","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, it argues that the Japanese public, media and government are being exposed to a distorted view of Islam and Muslim countries. For instance, Japanese academia seems captivated by anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism, leading to the radicalization of students. This, in turn, results in distorted perspectives on Muslim affairs for the Japanese people, media and government. This paper will focus on a case study from YouTube conducted by Akari Iiyama, a Japanese author. It will illustrate how her analysis unveils a distorted perspective of the Israel-Hamas war. Further, this study suggests that media reports play a crucial role in our comprehension of language dynamics in contemporary everyday life. It aims to enhance our understanding, especially in the context of Israel-Hamas war reporting, of the theory of speech style in socio-linguistics. Specifically, the theory of “involvement” will be discussed in relation to Japanese web-based data.","PeriodicalId":502704,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Arts, Humanities & Social Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140458614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on a longitudinal ethnographical case study of the classroom practice with a first-year English writing course, this article wrestles with the matter of topic familiarity and critical-thinking skills of argumentation. The discursive analysis of the instructional practice and the actual written texts from student writing assignments of paragraphs and short-essays recommends a freshman writing curriculum to act on critical classroom instruction with actual writing knowledge, yet to base it on topic familiarity. Because topic familiarity not only facilitates critical thinking of original facts or concrete evidence for new ideas in creating writing content, but also embraces students’ new learning with genre perspectives on techniques of typographical structures with argumentation mechanisms. This study obliges writing educators to strike a balance act on freshmen’s writing curriculum with topic familiarity and critical writing skills, not only to regulate instruction in preparing freshman students for writing penetrating essays, but also educating them to be critical future writers.","PeriodicalId":502704,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Arts, Humanities & Social Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139608108","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: This study uses a dialogic approach to explore literature on traditional interventions, modern technologies, and emerging technologies. The discussion centers around two research questions: What are the current emerging technologies? How can current emerging technologies differ in their approaches to address the previously perceived lack of modern technologies’ necessary social tools and contexts to act as suitable alternatives to traditional social exchanges and interactions? Findings & Implications: The solutions that emerging technologies offer far outweigh the challenges surrounding access, cost, and fear. For social workers, the potential to use emerging technologies to correct social injustices are boundless. The implications for emerging technologies are broad and include reducing barriers to mental health services, providing a more intuitive and realistic experience, and mitigating the impact of disabling conditions. For many Americans, emerging technologies will come to act as efficacious interventions for a myriad of issues. Future research in social work should focus on innovative technological interventions that can mitigate serious disabling conditions, and the plethora of social issues where emerging technologies can intersect and intercede social injustices.","PeriodicalId":502704,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Arts, Humanities & Social Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139607902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study was to explore the messaging behind youth Cyber activist Greta Thunberg’s Instagram account during her journey. We used an arts based visual content analysis approach and the following research questions guided the study: a) How did Thunberg share her climate activist journey with her Instagram followers? and b) How did Thunberg’s Instagram followers respond to posts she made during her climate activist journey? We collected posts from August 14 to 28, 2021. Images, captions, and the first ten comments of the posts shared by Thunberg’s Instagram account were qualitatively coded. Themes that emerged from the arts-based visual and textual analysis included: 1) Thunberg shared her experience through journey storytelling and voiced ongoing activism and 2) Thunberg’s audience members’ top comments indicated a primarily negative response to her journey. We highlight themes from the posts and discuss implications for online cyber activists and communication professionals.","PeriodicalId":502704,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Arts, Humanities & Social Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139608370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
