An interdisciplinary PrEP bootcamp was designed and implemented for health care professional students and included PrEP basics, epistemic justice, patient-clinician communication, and social determinants of health. A constructivist educational approach was used as students implemented new PrEP knowledge and skills when interacting with a simulated patient. Three bootcamps were piloted on a health science center campus January 2023-May 2024, and 28 students participated in post-bootcamp focus groups. Students reported enhanced knowledge, comfort, and confidence, and they appreciated engagement through active learning and interdisciplinary collaboration. As studies continue to show a lack of PrEP education in health care training programs, future researchers and educators should build on the promising structure of this bootcamp and continue to meet the needs of students and communities being served.</p>","PeriodicalId":50263,"journal":{"name":"Janac-Journal of the Association of Nurses in Aids Care","volume":" ","pages":"237-246"},"PeriodicalIF":1.6,"publicationDate":"2025-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143732811","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, biases in training data can compromise the fairness of these applications. Our study investigates the integration of social variables (race, gender, sexual orientation) in the generative AI tool ChatGPT with the aim to assess how these factors influence the AI's responses. Our study used a structured question format to test the responses of ChatGPT versions 3.5 and 4.0 across different demographic groups. Each session simulated a first-time interaction, using questions to ask for HIV advice. Certain social variables received less comprehensive advice, indicating potential biases. Both versions rarely mentioned social determinants of health and were sporadic references to culturally sensitive resources. Testing is a key component of HIV prevention and treatment, yet national testing rates and demographic differences among women with increased vulnerability are unclear. A secondary repeated cross-sectional analysis of Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data from female respondents spanning years 2016-2020 was performed to assess HIV testing among those reporting behaviors that increase the potential for acquiring HIV. Survey weighted logistic regression was used to model the predicted probability of an HIV test in the past 12 months. Among the weighted sample (N = 20,336), there was a 37.1% probability of an HIV test in the past 12 months. Non-Hispanic Black women had the highest probability (56.2%), and testing in the 25-34 and 35-44 years age groups was consistently below 50% in each year of the analysis. Overall, women with health care coverage (vs. without coverage) were more likely to be tested for HIV; however, no significant difference in testing by insurance status was observed for Non-Hispanic women of color in supplemental analysis. Our study underscores HIV testing gaps among U.S. women with increased HIV vulnerability, across all demographics, indicating missed opportunities and emphasizing the need for targeted, accessible, and engaging HIV prevention methods.</p>","PeriodicalId":50263,"journal":{"name":"Janac-Journal of the Association of Nurses in Aids Care","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.6,"publicationDate":"2025-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144040248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Participants, primarily adults of Hispanic (10) and African descent (2), ranged from 33 to 53 years old, with a majority having high school or higher education. A central theme, \"Hope for the Future,\" emerged, highlighting five subthemes: stigma/discrimination, religious beliefs, voodoo tenets, community nurturers, and HIV education.
