Teachers transfer knowledge to students without knowing if they are receiving it correctly. Being aware of whether the student correctly grasps the knowledge would be of great help since different actions could be carried out to correct this problem. The proposal of this work focuses on carrying out the diagnosis of student confusion through Machine Learning algorithms. In particular, the following algorithms were applied: Logistic Regression (LR), [Formula: see text]-Nearest Neighbor (K-NN), Random Forest (RF) and Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP). The metric was accuracy. The results obtained from the accuracy of each algorithm with the 5-Fold-Cross Validation validation method are 55.03% (LR), 52.98% (7-NN), 58.86% (RF) and 75.40% (MLP). An improvement in accuracy was achieved with respect to already published papers.","PeriodicalId":502452,"journal":{"name":"Fractals","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139214107","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We investigated the changes in brain activity among rest and multitask workload (SIMKAP multitasking test) by quantifying the complexity of EEG signals. The results showed that EEG signals have smaller fractal dimensions, sample entropy, and approximate entropy during the SIMKAP multitasking test than the rest. Therefore, the complexity of EEG signals was lower during the SIMKAP multitasking test than the rest. In further research, we can study the changes in brain activity among other conditions, which has great benefits in decoding brain activity in various conditions.","PeriodicalId":502452,"journal":{"name":"Fractals","volume":"93 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139262006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using nuclear magnetic resonance experimental system, we simulated realistic water injection coal seam conditions. We obtained the real mechanical environment of water injection coal seam, the [Formula: see text] spectrum curves of the pore structure at different scales, realized a fine measurement of liquid permeability, proposed a method for calculating the fractal dimension of the specific surface area which combined a tortuosity fractal dimension algorithm, delineated micro-holes and medium–large holes, clarified the quantitative relationships between the structural porosity, the specific surface area, tortuosity, and permeability, and investigated the control mechanism of structural characteristics on the dynamic water transport process. The results showed that, under different mechanical environments, the fractal dimension of the specific surface area of micro–small pores was close to 2, while that of medium–large pores was close to 3. The former fractal dimension increased more obviously, indicating that medium–large pores are more easily compressed than micro–small ones. Under such conditions, the complexity of pore size distribution increased. Additionally, the fractal dimension increase of tortuosity was higher for medium–large pores than for micro–small pores, indicating that the hydraulic reconstruction process was more obvious at a large scale. According to the quantitative relationship between structural porosity, the specific surface area, tortuosity, and permeability, medium–large pores control most of the dynamic water migration in the coal bodies of Daliuta Coal Mine, while the whole pore size range has an important influence on dynamic water migration in the coal bodies of Luling Coal Mine. Our findings provide a solid scientific basis for the development of hydraulic permeability technologies for difficult-to-penetrate coal seams.","PeriodicalId":502452,"journal":{"name":"Fractals","volume":"39 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139275985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
