By leveraging the accuracy and omnipresence\u0000among smartphone users of GLH, the proposed methodology avoids the need for\u0000proprietary GPS tracking applications to collect smartphone-based GPS data.\u0000This research enhanced an existing travel survey designer, Travel Activity\u0000Internet Survey Interface (TRAISI), to make it capable of deriving travel\u0000diaries from the respondents' GLH. The feasibility of this data collection\u0000approach is showcased through the Google Timeline Travel Survey (GTTS)\u0000conducted in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. In our\u0000experiment, participants placed bids for sugar-containing and analogous\u0000sugar-free products in a Becker-deGroot-Marschak auction to determine the\u0000willingness to pay. Additionally, they rated each product on the level of\u0000perceived healthiness, sweetness, tastiness and familiarity with the product.\u0000We then used structural equation modelling to estimate the direct, indirect and\u0000total effect of the label on the willingness to pay. The results suggest that\u0000sugar-free labels significantly increase the willingness to pay due to the\u0000perception of sugar-free products as healthier than sugar-containing ones.\u0000However, this positive effect is overridden by a significant decrease in\u0000perceived sweetness (and hence, tastiness) of products labelled as sugar-free\u0000compared to sugar-containing products. As in our sample, healthiness and\u0000tastiness are positively related, while healthiness and sweetness are related\u0000negatively, these results suggest that it is health-sweetness rather than\u0000health-tastiness tradeoff that decreases the efficiency of the sugar-free\u0000labelling in nudging consumers towards healthier options.

The importance of a stable electricity grid plays a\u0000vital role in the effective functioning of urban infrastructure and the\u0000economy. The importance of electricity in the present-day South Africa has not\u0000been emphasized enough to be prioritized at all levels of government,\u0000especially at the local level, as it is where all socio-economic activities\u0000take place. The new South Africa needs to redefine the importance of\u0000electricity by ensuring that it is accessible, affordable, and produced\u0000sustainably, and most of all, by ensuring that the energy transition\u0000initiatives to green energy take place in a planned manner without causing harm\u0000to the economy, which might deepen the plight of South Africans. Currently, the\u0000City of Johannesburg is a growing spatial entity in both demographic and\u0000urbanization terms, and growing urban spaces require a stable supply of\u0000electricity for the proper functioning of urban systems and the growth of the\u0000local economy. The growth of the city brings about a massive demand for\u0000electricity that outstrips the current supply of electricity available on the\u0000local grid. The imbalance in the current supply and growing demand for\u0000electricity result in energy blackouts in the city, which have ripple effects\u0000on the economy and livelihoods of the people of Johannesburg. There are many territorial manifestations that\u0000materialize from this new reality and the text seeks to propose a reading of\u0000its characteristics based on what we call "productive spatial configurations",\u0000which represent the specific functioning of a certain innovative production\u0000process and its territorial impact. To illustrate this approach, we take as an\u0000example a case study that illustrates how productive spatial configurations\u0000manifest themselves through the revitalization of an industrial economy that\u0000incorporates innovative efforts, whether technological, process or\u0000organizational. This is the localized industrial system (LIS) of clothing and\u0000apparel in Fortaleza, Cear'a state, Brazil, which reveals an industrial\u0000experience of resistance with significant organizational innovation in the\u0000production and distribution processes of clothing. The main objective of the\u0000proposal is to organize theoretical and empirical tools that will allow us to\u0000read the combination of economic, social and political variables in spaces\u0000where collaborative networks of companies, service centers and public\u0000institutions flourish, in the context of various industrial production\u0000processes.
This study contributes to the ongoing debate regarding the balance between\u0000quality and quantity in research productivity and publication activity. Using\u0000empirical regional knowledge production functions, we establish a significant\u0000correlation between R&D spending and research output, specifically publication\u0000productivity, while controlling for patenting activity and socioeconomic\u0000factors. Our focus is on the dilemma of research quantity versus quality, which\u0000is analysed in the context of regional thematic specialization using spatial\u0000lags. When designing policies and making forecasts, it is important to consider\u0000the quality of research measured by established indicators. In this study, we\u0000examine the dual effect of research quality on publication activity. We\u0000identify two groups of quality factors: those related to the quality of\u0000journals and those related to the impact of publications. On average, these\u0000factors have different influences on quantitative measures. The quality of\u0000journals shows a negative relationship with quantity, indicating that as\u0000journal quality increases, the number of publications decreases. On the other\u0000hand, the impact of publications can be approximated by an inverse parabolic\u0000shape, with a positive decreasing slope within a common range of values. This\u0000duality in the relationship between quality factors and quantitative measures\u0000may explain some of the significant variations in conclusions found in the\u0000literature. We compare several models that explore factors influencing\u0000publication activity using a balanced panel dataset of Russian regions from\u00002009 to 2021. Additionally, we propose a novel approach using thematic\u0000scientometric parameters as a special type of proximity measure between regions\u0000in thematic space. Incorporating spatial spillovers in thematic space allows us\u0000to account for potential cross-sectional dependence in regional data.

Utilizing data from Tokyo's Bunkyo\u0000municipality, this paper provides evidence of considerable manipulation, with\u0000parents strategically choosing to be waitlisted to enhance the likelihood of\u0000their child's admission into more selective daycare centers. I extend the\u0000static framework of school choice posited by Agarwal and Somaini (2018) to\u0000incorporate dynamic incentives and estimate a structural model that allows for\u0000reapplication if waitlisted. Empirical findings indicate that approximately 30%\u0000of applicants forgo listing safer options in their initial application, a\u0000behavior significantly pronounced among those who stand to benefit from the\u0000waitlist prioritization. Counterfactual simulations, conducted under the\u0000scenario of no additional waitlist priority, predict a 17.7% decrease in the\u0000number of waitlisted applicants and a 1.2% increase in overall welfare. These\u0000findings highlight the profound influence of dynamic incentives on applicant\u0000behavior and underscore the necessity for reevaluating current priority\u0000mechanisms.
