This service evaluation explored symptom burden, perceived work impact and organisational support among dental staff. Methods An anonymised online questionnaire was distributed to female staff at the Royal London Dental Hospital between November 2024 and January 2025. Data on menstrual and menopausal symptoms, perceived performance impact, sickness absence and workplace support were analysed descriptively. Results A total of 106 responses were analysed. Over half of respondents (51%) reported that menstrual symptoms moderately or significantly impaired clinical performance, while only 3.8% rated the workplace as supportive. One-third felt they required ≥3 days' leave annually for period-related symptoms, but many did not take this leave, indicating presenteeism. Menopausal symptoms also affected work performance, particularly through fatigue, sleep disturbance and reduced focus. Conclusion Menstruation and menopause substantially affect the wellbeing and performance of dental staff, yet organisational support remains limited.
