This paper reviews the fundamental and important operating parameters, product characteristics, current and potential applications, and techno-economic aspects of spray drying. The key operating parameters should be chosen to achieve the highest spray drying performance in terms of operational efficiency and product quality. A successful spray drying operation is greatly dependent on the feed material properties, the mechanical design of the equipment, and selected operating parameters. This paper also found that water content, water activity, and glass transition temperature are the main parameters that really determine product quality in terms of shelf life and storage conditions of food powder obtained from the spray drying process. Recent advances in the development of new heatless spray drying technology in the manufacture of food flavoring and nutraceuticals are interesting to develop, in addition to the potential to produce nano-sized powders with distinctive properties and the use of superheated steam and carbon dioxide to sterilize products. The appropriate information on spray drying technology featured in this paper is targeted to reinforce researcher and practitioner understanding for widening its applications in pertinent food industries. Doi: 10.28991/HEF-2024-05-02-09 Full Text: PDF","PeriodicalId":500209,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human, Earth, and Future","volume":"47 16","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141275156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research follows quantitative methodology, obtained 414, and these data were analyzed and hypotheses tested. SPSS 26.0 and Mplus 8.3 software were used for model fit and structural equation correlation analysis. The results show that SQ has a significant direct positive effect on PV, CS, and BI. PV has a significant direct positive effect on CS and BI. CS has a significant, direct positive effect on BI. In addition, BI is influenced by SQ indirectly through PV or CS. PV and CS act as dual mediator variables in the effect of SQ on BI. This paper is the first attempt to explore the important role of internet celebrity (IC) bed and breakfast (B&B) SQ in influencing BI from the perspective of the IC B&B, and explored the complex relationship between PV, CS as dual mediator variables, provides an in-depth understanding of the key influences on BI for IC B&B customers, and expands the original theoretical framework, filling a gap in the existing literature. Doi: 10.28991/HEF-2024-05-02-03 Full Text: PDF","PeriodicalId":500209,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human, Earth, and Future","volume":"51 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141277459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through a qualitative and quantitative approach, this study successfully identified various needs that will aid in developing a knowledge management system. The research results show that the knowledge management process in small-scale dairy farming involves farmers, cooperatives, extension services, and industry. Farmers in livestock management undertake a holistic knowledge management process. Cooperatives augment this by creating guidebooks from best practices, holding training meetings, distributing informational materials, overseeing milk quality standards, and enhancing skills. Extension workers bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application. The industry plays a crucial role by offering comprehensive training, monitoring standards, and supporting farmers' professional development. The findings indicate that knowledge sharing is the dominant process, involving knowledge related to livestock care, reproduction, milk transactions, animal health, and farmer finance. The key factors influencing this process are People, Technology, and Organization. The results provide a solid foundation for further developing a more technical knowledge management system for smallholder dairy farmers, offering new insights into effective processes and technologies for knowledge management in this field. Doi: 10.28991/HEF-2024-05-02-02 Full Text: PDF","PeriodicalId":500209,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human, Earth, and Future","volume":"23 15","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141234842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to determine whether smart irrigation with sensors, IoT, and real-time data collection for regulating stable soil water content affects mangosteen fruit quantity and quality. Climate, soil, and mangosteen parameters were compared between irrigated and non-irrigated productions. Flowering and fruit yield data were collected from twenty randomly selected mangosteen trees per irrigation treatment. The results showed that air and soil temperatures were lower, but relative humidity and soil moisture on mangosteen production were greater in irrigated trees than in non-irrigated trees. Irrigated and non-irrigated mangosteen trees showed no significant difference in trunk diameter or crown size. Irrigation boosted mangosteen yields with increased flowers, fruits, and weight but thinner peels, fewer pulp segments, and a higher vulnerability to fruit imperfections. The mean fruit circumference did not differ significantly between non-irrigated and irrigated mangosteen production systems. Mangosteen fruits in irrigated production had fewer fruit defects than those in non-irrigated production. Regulated irrigated mangosteen production with stable soil moisture using soil moisture sensors and IoT produced high-quantity and quality mangosteens with fewer fruit defects. Doi: 10.28991/HEF-2024-05-02-05 Full Text: PDF","PeriodicalId":500209,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human, Earth, and Future","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141275010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using a sample of 387 S&P 500 firms from 2013 to 2023 and a panel data regression approach, we examine the impact of training expenditure, workforce diversity and inclusion, pay equity, and employee benefits on ESG performance. We also explore the association between ESG performance and ESG disclosure, the effect of ESG performance on financial performance, and the moderating role of ESG disclosure in the ESG-financial performance relationship. Our findings reveal that sustainable human capital management practices have a positive and significant impact on ESG performance, which in turn positively influences firm financial performance. We also find a positive relationship between ESG performance and ESG disclosure, and that ESG disclosure moderates the ESG-financial performance link, with the positive association being stronger for firms with higher levels of ESG disclosure. This study contributes to the literature by offering an integrated approach to examine the relationships between sustainable human capital management, ESG performance, ESG disclosure, and financial performance, providing novel insights into the drivers and outcomes of corporate sustainability in the context of human capital management. Doi: 10.28991/HEF-2024-05-02-08 Full Text: PDF","PeriodicalId":500209,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human, Earth, and Future","volume":"8 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141229937","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study primarily compared Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Random Forest (RF) machine learning methods, using satellite imagery from Landsat 8 and Sentinel 2 between 2021 and 2023, to monitor land use in the Patuha geothermal area. The objective is to improve sustainable water management practices by accurately categorizing different land cover types. This comparative analysis assessed the efficacy of these techniques in upholding water sustainability in geothermal regions. This study examined the application of SVM and RF machine learning techniques, with particular emphasis on parameter refinement and model assessment, to enhance land use classification accuracy. By employing Kernlab and e1071 for algorithm comparison, the research sought to produce a precise Land Use Model Map, which underscores the significance of advanced analytical techniques in environmental management. This approach was of utmost importance in improving land use monitoring and reinforcing sustainable practices. The comparative evaluation of SVM and RF methods for land use classification demonstrates the superiority of RF in terms of accuracy, stability, and precision, particularly in intricate urban settings, hence establishing it as the preferred model for tasks demanding high reliability. The application of SVM and RF for monitoring land use in geothermal areas is in alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6 and 15, as it fosters sustainable water management and the conservation of ecosystems. Doi: 10.28991/HEF-2024-05-02-06 Full Text: PDF","PeriodicalId":500209,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human, Earth, and Future","volume":"10 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141229632","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on cognitive appraisal theory, a research model of perceptions of cultural authenticity and authentic happiness was constructed to explore the relationships among perceptions of cultural authenticity, place attachment, and authentic happiness and to verify the moderating effect of perceived safety. Through a questionnaire survey, 408 valid questionnaires from tourists were collected from ethnic villages in border areas of China, and the bootstrap method and parameter estimation method were used to test the hypotheses. The results show that cultural authenticity perception positively affects authentic happiness and place attachment; place attachment has a direct positive correlation with authentic happiness; place attachment has a partial mediating effect on the perception of cultural authenticity and authentic happiness; and perceived safety has a moderating effect on place attachment and authentic happiness. Attaching importance to the excavation and protection of the cultural authenticity of frontier ethnic villages and enhancing tourists’ perceptions of the cultural authenticity of frontier ethnic villages are conducive to promoting their place attachment to frontier ethnic villages and, at the same time, can enhance tourists’ sense of authentic happiness. Doi: 10.28991/HEF-2024-05-02-07 Full Text: PDF","PeriodicalId":500209,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human, Earth, and Future","volume":"3 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141229908","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The core methodological approach integrated econometric modeling techniques (production, cost, and profit functions) with data envelopment analysis to conduct comprehensive techno-economic assessments across a representative sample of 58 greenhouse facilities using primary data collected on yields, costs, technology deployment levels, and digital platform accessibility. A key finding was that involvement in digital supply chain coordination platforms corresponded to a 36% increase in profitability, coupled with a 19% reduction in expenses, a 29% improvement in crop yields, and a 22% boost in optimized technical efficiency scores relative to conventional practices after controlling for technology adoption and other factors. This novel contribution provides quantifiable evidence on the synergistic productivity, financial sustainability, and climate resilience dividends unlocked by aligning physical infrastructure upgrades with virtual enhancements around data visibility and supply network integration to overcome constraints facing smallholder agricultural operations. The interdisciplinary analysis outlines an integrated roadmap for smart greenhouse expansion through investments in transparency tools, digital ecosystems, and workforce training. Doi: 10.28991/HEF-2024-05-02-04 Full Text: PDF","PeriodicalId":500209,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human, Earth, and Future","volume":"9 35","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141228921","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
