This implemented system organized preventative methods to care for foods and consumers from contaminants that may be physical, chemical, and biological. It is regularly applied in all food production stage, beginning with received raw materials from approved suppliers, within food production processing stage and after finishing production processing i.e. distribution of final products to customers, to make sure there is no hazard in the products or to reduce the hazard in the safe level that does not cause any risk for human when consumption it (i.e. safe food consumption when people eat it). The results showed the difference between biological examination (swabs was taken from equipment in salting area and packaging area, swabs were taken from worker’s staff in salting area and packaging area) before and after ISO implementation through application of programs of cleaning and disinfection and individual hygiene. Also, water supply quality and safety were implemented by microbiological analysis of water. This study was performed to shed some light on the effect of the germination process on the physicochemical characteristics, nutritional value and phytochemicals of the seedling. The effect of crowding of chia seeds during planting was also studied. The results display that the degree of crowding of seeds during germination for 5 days had no actual effect until crowding of 100 seeds/250 ml, as the degree of seed germination was affected after that by the degree of crowding. As for physical properties, chia sprouts had higher volume (7.54 cm 3 ), weight (2.69 g) and true density (2.80 g/cm 3 ), but smaller bulk density (0.34 g/ml) than those of seeds. The chia sprouts also contain higher moisture (13.18%), proteins (25.13%), ash (5.88%) and dietary fibers (21.17%) than those of the raw seeds. On the other hand, they contain lower crude fat (22.65%), nitrogen-free extract (12.04%) and total carbohydrates (33.24%). It is interesting to note that the biomass of the chia sprouts can provide the human body with different secondary metabolites and nutrients with low calories (352.48 Kcal/100 g) compared with the chia seeds.","PeriodicalId":499776,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sustainable Agricultural and Environmental Sciences","volume":"3 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140401323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Chemical composition, microbiological as well as sensory characteristics were investigated for resultant fresh and stored cheese. The results showed that the dry matter content, protein, water-soluble nitrogen, ash, fat, minerals content, and titratable acidity were significantly ( p ≤0.05) higher than those of control cheese either in fresh or after the storage period of chia-enriched cheese. Chia seeds powder resulted in an innovative light brown color that increased as the storage period progressed. The addition of chia seeds powder improves the overall acceptability of low-fat UF-soft cheese as their level increases except for the highest level of chia (3%). On the other hand, the highest level of chia powder decreased the appearance score. Total bacterial counts and psychotropic counts after 28 days of storage of chia-enriched cheese are slightly higher than control. No significant ( p ≤0.05) differences in mold and yeast count of fresh cheese containing chia powder compared to the control. Notably, coliform and E. coli counts were not detected in all UF-soft cheese samples during the cold storage for 28 days. Hence, chia seeds powder (2%) could be used as a functional ingredient and fat replacer in such low-fat cheese which led to improvements in its characteristics close to control full-fat cheese.","PeriodicalId":499776,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sustainable Agricultural and Environmental Sciences","volume":"94 S4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140406919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Plants exposed to two different salinity levels (40 and 80 mM NaCl) were treated with two different concentrations of TiO 2 NPs (5, 10 ppm) during the growth period. Data showed that the high salinity levels decreased the plant height, fresh and dry weights of the shoots by (12.4 %, 37.2 %, and 34.8 %) respectively, as well as decreased Chl a, Chl b, Total Chl, and carotenoids content by 43.7 %, 45.7 %, 44.2 %, and 12.1 % respectively compared with the control. The application of TiO 2 NPs at (10 ppm) significantly improved faba plant height, fresh and dry weights of the shoots by 10.9 %, 67.3 %, and 33.4 % respectively, as well as significantly enhanced Chl a, Chl b, Total Chl, and Carotenoids by 58.8 %, 19.7 %, 47.6 %, and 37.7 % respectively compared with the untreated plants. It could be concluded that spraying plants with TiO 2 NPs at the two used concentrations mitigated the harmful effects of salinity on faba bean plants.","PeriodicalId":499776,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sustainable Agricultural and Environmental Sciences","volume":"45 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140400716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The parents and their five populations (P1, P2, F1, F2 and F3) of two crosses were layout in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Scaling test illustrated the existence of non-allelic interactions (epistasis) for most studied characters in the two crosses. Results demonstrated that additive and non-additive gene effects were significant and govern the inheritance of yield and its component traits while, dominance gene effects were higher in magnitude than additive effect under normal and nitrogen stress conditions. Significant positive heterotic estimates relative to mid and better parents were obtained for most studied characters under normal and nitrogen stress conditions. Regarding potence ratio, over and partial dominance was observed for all the studied characters in both crosses at normal and nitrogen stress conditions. broad sense heritability estimates ranged from 73 % to 98 % under normal condition and from 65 % to 97 % under nitrogen stress condition. Moreover, Narrow sense heritability estimates ranged from 29 % to 96 % under normal condition and from 17 % to 89 % under nitrogen stress condition.
