The building has garnered varied perceptions from visitors, and the objective of this research is to comprehend these perspectives and develop the site into a noteworthy tourist attraction that can contribute to the growth of the country's tourism sector. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher has employed a quantitative research method, which involved distributing 384 questionnaires to visitors in and around Fort Margherita. The gathered data will be analyzed to gain insights into visitors' perceptions and determine the necessary steps to meet the research objectives effectively. Through this study, the researcher aims to provide valuable information to stakeholders in the tourism industry, such as policymakers, government agencies, and tourism-related businesses. The findings will aid in enhancing the attractiveness of Fort Margherita as a tourist destination, thereby boosting the local economy and contributing to the sustainable development of the region.

 Abstrak: Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk mengkaji potensi Kubu Margherita, sebuah bangunan bersejarah di Kuching, sebagai destinasi pelancongan yang berpotensi. Bangunan ini mendapat persepsi yang berbeza dari pelawat, dan objektif kajian ini adalah untuk memahami pandangan-pandangan ini dan mengembangkan tapak ini menjadi tarikan pelancongan yang bererti yang dapat menyumbang kepada pertumbuhan sektor pelancongan negara. Untuk mencapai objektif kajian, penyelidik telah menggunakan kaedah penyelidikan kuantitatif yang melibatkan pengedaran 384 borang soal selidik kepada pelawat di sekitar Kubu Margherita. Data yang dikumpul akan dianalisis untuk mendapatkan pandangan tentang persepsi pelawat dan menentukan langkah yang perlu diambil untuk mencapai objektif kajian dengan berkesan. Melalui kajian ini, penyelidik bertujuan untuk menyediakan maklumat yang berguna kepada pemangku kepentingan dalam industri pelancongan seperti pembuat dasar, agensi kerajaan, dan perniagaan yang berkaitan dengan pelancongan. Hasil kajian akan membantu meningkatkan daya tarikan Kubu Margherita sebagai destinasi pelancongan, dengan itu meningkatkan ekonomi tempatan dan menyumbang kepada pembangunan mampan kawasan.

The Federal Constitution (Article 160) states that a Malay can be defined as a person who professes the religion of Islam. However, what is happening today, not all Malays are Muslims, and not all Muslims are Malays. The problem here arises when non -Malays who are Muslims and Malays who are not Muslims want to get the rights provided under the Federal Constitution of Malaysia. From these problems, then in this study, the researcher wants to identify the privileged rights of Malay-Muslims in Malaysia and what is the division of rights for the Malays and the rights for Muslims? Using document study and content analysis, the initial results showed that there are four bumiputera privileges given to Malay-Muslims, namely land rights for Malays, the right to obtain government positions, the right to receive scholarships, and the right to assistance. economy. The rights of non-Malay Muslims are enshrined in Syariah law, that is the Syariah Court has the right to impose punishment for syariah criminal offenses committed by Muslims in Malaysia, whether they are Malays or other races.

 Abstrak: Hak keistimewaan orang Melayu merupakan perkara yang termaktub dalam Perlembagaan Persekutuan Malaysia. Perlembagaan Persekutuan (Perkara 160) menyatakan bahawa orang Melayu boleh ditakrifkan sebagai seorang yang menganuti agama Islam. Namun, yang berlaku pada hari ini, tidak semua orang Melayu itu beragama Islam, dan tidak semua orang Islam itu berbangsa Melayu. Permasalahan di sini timbul apabila orang bukan Melayu yang beragama Islam dan orang Melayu yang bukan beragama Islam ingin mendapatkan hak yang diperuntukkan di bawah Perlembagaan Persekutuan Malaysia. Daripada permasalahan tersebut, maka dalam kajian ini, pengkaji ingin mengenal pasti hak keistimewaan Melayu-Islam di Malaysia dan apakah pembahagian hak bagi bangsa Melayu dan hak bagi yang beragama Islam? Dengan menggunakan kaedah kajian dokumen dan analisis kandungan, hasil awalnya didapati bahawa terdapat empat hak keistimewaan bumiputera yang diberikan kepada orang Melayu-Islam iaitu hak tanah untuk orang Melayu, hak untuk mendapatkan jawatan dalam kerajaan, hak dalam menerima peruntukan biasiswa, dan hak untuk mendapatkan bantuan ekonomi. Hak ke atas orang Islam yang bukan berbangsa Melayu pula termaktub dalam undang-undang Syariah iaitu Mahkamah Syariah mempunyai hak untuk menjatuhkan hukuman bagi kesalahan jenayah syariah yang dilakukan oleh orang Islam di Malaysia sama ada mereka itu berbangsa Melayu atau bangsa-bangsa yang lain.

The data of this study is a Malay classical poetry known as seloka Pak Kaduk which is obtained from an anthology entitled “Lukisan Zaman”. To further complement of the research, data was also taken from Facebook search engine which is confined to current issues related to local politics. To relate the data of this study, the researchers used a pragmatic approach: Relevance Theory by Sperber and Wilson (1986). The research found that, there are manifestations of criticisms of this line such as, “criticism of the attitude of someone who makes reckless decisions”, “criticism of a person who does not think about the decisions he make will cause others to suffer” and the “criticism of superiors using power or trickery to deceive subordinates”. In conclusion, the manifestation of criticisms of this line of seloka does not end at surface level only, but the meaning can be expanded in the current political context as well. It is hoped that this study can make the valuable oral literature of our ancestors as further reference in discussing the current local political situation as history proved that the history of a nation can as well be referred further by perusing the classical literature’ work.

 Abstrak: Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis baris seloka Pak Kaduk “Aduhai malangnya Pak Kaduk, ayamnya menang kampung tergadai” dengan kancah politik tempatan. Data kajian ini diperoleh melalui antologi “Lukisan Zaman” dan enjin pencarian Facebook (isu semasa berkaitan politik tempatan). Bagi mempertalikan data kajian ini, pengkaji telah menggunakan pendekatan pragmatik: Teori Relevans oleh Sperber dan Wilson (1986). Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa, wujudnya manifestasi kritikan terhadap baris seloka ini seperti, “kritikan terhadap sikap seseorang yang membuat keputusan secara melulu”, “kritikan terhadap sikap seseorang yang tidak memikirkan keputusan yang diambilnya akan menyebabkan orang lain terkena tempias” dan “kritikan terhadap golongan atasan menggunakan kuasa atau tipu helah untuk memperdayakan orang bawahan”. Rumusannya, manifestasi kritikan terhadap baris seloka ini tidak terhenti pada peringkat permukaannya sahaja, namun maknanya dapat diperluas dalam konteks politik semasa. Kajian ini diharap dapat menjadikan khazanah lisan tinggalan nenek moyang ini sebagai rujukan lanjut dalam memperkatakan perihal suasana politik tempatan semasa. Hal ini dikatakan demikian kerana sejarah sesebuah negara itu juga boleh dirujuk melalui hasil kesusasteraannya.

This number is low compared to the number of registered births of more than four million who are reported to be disabled. This large number indicates a need for a professional that needs to be trained to help the disabled. Studies in Malaysia often focus on aspects of services and rehabilitation for the disabled. However, there is relatively little research on identifying other professions that can improve the needs of the disabled in Malaysia. One of the important professions today is a social worker. Social work programs at public universities provide courses for students of social work programs to understand and handle clients, including the disabled. The courses offered should make students understand the aspects of diversity in dealing with clients. Students of social work programs should be proficient in handling a variety of clients, including the disabled. This article will discuss the mastery of social work program students in understanding the disabled while studying. A total of 279 students at six public universities offering social work programs were involved in this study. This study which uses quantitative methods that is the distribution of questionnaires and data was analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23. The findings show that students of social work programs are able to master understanding the disabled while studying at university. This finding is based on the results of a survey of courses offered at universities that have provided and prepared social work program students with skills and theories that can be applied in helping people with disabilities. This situation shows that social work trainees have received sufficient training since studying at the Bachelor's Degree level.

 Abstrak: Statistik Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) pada tahun 2021 menunjukkan seramai 587, 608 golongan Orang Kurang Upaya (OKU) yang berdaftar dengan JKM. Jumlah ini merupakan jumlah yang rendah dibandingkan dengan jumlah yang berdaftar kelahiran iaitu lebih empat juta yang dilaporkan merupakan OKU. Angka yang banyak ini menunjukkan satu keperluan profesion yang perlu dilatih untuk membantu golongan OKU. Kajian di Malaysia sering memberi penumpuan kepada aspek perkhidmatan dan pemulihan kepada golongan OKU. Namun, agak kurang kajian tentang mengenalpasti profesion lain yang mampu meningkatkan keperluan golongan OKU di Malaysia. Salah satu profesion yang penting kini adalah pekerja sosial. Program kerja sosial di universiti awam sememangnya menyediakan kursus kepada pelajar program kerja sosial untuk memahami dan mengendalikan klien termasuk golongan OKU. {"title":"FAKTOR KRISIS RUMAH TANGGA DI NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM","authors":"Nazihah Hanni, Azme Matali","doi":"10.37231/apj.2023.6.1.401","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.37231/apj.2023.6.1.401","url":null,"abstract":"Abstract: Bahagian Khidmat Nasihat Keluarga (BKNK) offers family advice to couples facing domestic crises, with the aim of reducing the divorce rate and helping couples resolve family issues using Islamic family knowledge. However, the divorce rate continues to increase annually in Brunei Darussalam. This study qualitatively examines the factors contributing to domestic crises and analyzes the statistics of domestic crisis complaints received by BKNK. The study identifies \"incomprehension\" and \"neglect of responsibility\" as the dominant factors in Brunei Darussalam. While BKNK has played a role in handling domestic crises by creating awareness through the Pre-Marriage Course, the study recommends the establishment of a Post-Marriage Course to promote harmonious Islamic family institutions. Furthermore, the establishment of a panel on the social studies of Muslims is recommended to survey the true causes of married couples' disagreements. This study aims to contribute to reducing the divorce rate in Brunei Darussalam by highlighting the importance of understanding the factors contributing to domestic crises and promoting Islamic family values.

 Abstrak: Bahagian Khidmat Nasihat Keluarga (BKNK) menawarkan nasihat keluarga kepada pasangan yang mengalami krisis rumah tangga, dengan tujuan mengurangkan kadar perceraian dan membantu pasangan menyelesaikan isu keluarga dengan pengetahuan keluarga Islam. Namun, kadar perceraian terus meningkat setiap tahun di Brunei Darussalam. Kajian ini secara kualitatif mengkaji faktor yang menyumbang kepada krisis keluarga dan menganalisis statistik aduan krisis keluarga yang diterima oleh BKNK. Kajian mengenal pasti \"ketidakfahaman\" dan \"pengabaian tanggungjawab\" sebagai faktor utama di Brunei Darussalam. Walaupun BKNK memainkan peranan dalam menangani krisis keluarga dengan meningkatkan kesedaran melalui Kursus Pra-Perkahwinan, kajian mengesyorkan penubuhan Kursus Pasca-Perkahwinan untuk menggalakkan institusi keluarga Islam yang harmoni. Selain itu, penubuhan panel kajian sosial umat Islam disyorkan untuk mengkaji punca sebenar perselisihan antara pasangan yang berkahwin. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menyumbang kepada pengurangan kadar perceraian di Brunei Darussalam dengan menekankan kepentingan memahami faktor yang menyumbang kepada krisis keluarga dan menggalakkan nilai-nilai keluarga Islam.

This is because the business sector is one of the contributors to economic growth in Malaysia. Various government assistance and support are available to help undergraduate students start their businesses. It somehow contributes to the motivation factor for the students to start their business for motivation factor to start doing business despite their busy time with studies. Therefore, this study investigated the impact of business start-ups among undergraduate students. This study was conducted using a simple random sampling, which targeted diploma and bachelor degree students from one of the public universities in Melaka who have business as their side income or permanent income. An online questionnaire was sent to selected respondents, and 300 respondents responded to it. The underlying factors were investigated using frequency and descriptive analyses. Motivational components were identified using factor analysis. Researchers discovered that self-development, opportunities, freedom, and recognition are among the factors that can encourage young people to start a business. The most influential factor in why young people want to establish their businesses is opportunity.

China is the world's largest source of international students, and Chinese students’ adaptation to a foreign country has always been the focus of scholars. Although Chinese students have become the second-largest group of international students in Malaysia, few studies concentrated on the cross-cultural adaptation of this group in Malaysia. This literature review further confirms this situation. From 2010 to 2021, only 14 articles were obtained through both Google Scholar and Scopus databases and manual search. Among the limited literature,4 articles took Chinese international students as samples. In other research, the samples were international students from all over the world, and Chinese students only accounted for a part. Moreover, most of the studies only selected samples from one location, affecting the results' representative. In addition, the research topic was relatively unitary; the 14 studies mainly discussed the factors affecting the cross-cultural adaptation of Chinese students in Malaysia and suggested suggestions to improve their adaptation. In terms of research design, 12 articles applied a cross-sectional survey but onlyinvolved independent and dependent variables without moderating or mediating variables; the research framework was relatively simple. However, cross-sectional studies cannot determine causal relationships between variables and are insufficient to show the dynamic process of cross-cultural adaptation. On this basis, some suggestions for future research are put forward.

All parties regardless of ethnic background, language and religion need the education to be able to live life more harmoniously, respect each other, build success and live based on humanity. At the same time in countries with diverse ethnic, religious and racial communities, the demand for education to understand religious beliefs is often heard. For more countries it is not a big issue to allow the community to provide religious education but not all countries are open and allow educational institutions other than those provided by the government. This is where various problems arise for communities to learn religious teachings, especially for Muslim minorities. Muslim minority communities face various challenges to obtain formal religious education facilities in government-owned schools. Therefore, there are several challenges that have to be overcome to ensure that the Muslim community is able to practice religious teachings while studying in schools owned by the government. This study examines the challenges faced by Muslim minority communities, especially Malays in Perth, Australia.

 Abstrak : Pendidikan adalah nadi kepada kehidupan yang memberikan pelbagai ilmu kepada masyarakat dalam pelbagai bidang. Permulaan pendidikan secara sistematik kini telah bermula dari pra sekolah, sekolah rendah, sekolah menengah dan ke peringkat tinggi di kolej atau universiti. Semua pihak tanpa mengira latar belakang etnik, bahasa dan agama memerlukan pendidikan agar dapat menjalani kehidupan dengan lebih harmoni, saling menghormati,membina kejayaan serta hidup berdasarkan sifat kemanusiaan. Pada masa yang sama dalam negara yang mempunyai pelbagai masyarakat terdiri etnik, agama dan kaum tuntutan untuk mendapatkan pendidikan memahami anutan agama sering kedengaran. Bagi negara yang lebih terbuka ianya bukanlah satu isu besar untuk membenarkan masyarakat menyediakan pendidikan agama namun tidak semua negara yang terbuka dan membenarkan institusi pendidikan selain yang disediakan oleh kerajaan. Dari sinilah timbul pelbagai masalah untuk masyarakat mempelajari ajaran agama khususnya bagi golongan minoriti Muslim. Masyarakat minoriti Muslim menghadapi pelbagai cabaran untuk mendapatkan kemudahan pendidikan agama secara formal di sekolah milik kerajaan. Justeru itu terdapat beberapa cabaran yang terpaksa dilalui bagi memastikan masyarakat Muslim dalam melaksanakan ajaran agama semasa belajar di sekolah milik kerajaan. Kajian ini meneliti cabaran yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat minoriti Muslim khususnya Melayu di Perth, Australia.

However, this effort becomes difficult due to a need for more awareness among Malaysian. Solid Waste Management and Public Cleaning Corporation (SWCorp) has highlighted that the production of daily garbage among Malaysians has recorded an increase of 100.75 per cent. Recognising the importance of reducing waste and protecting the environment, this study examines the contribution of price, green knowledge, and environmental awareness towards using recyclable and biodegradable products practised by the Malaysian public. By employing correlational and regression analyses, the study analysed the final data of 316 respondents representing the Malaysian public in Klang Valley. The questionnaire form for the study was modified from previous studies, and data were analysed using SPSS 23 software. The study's findings show a significant relationship between price, green knowledge, and environmental awareness toward using recyclable and biodegradable products. The study's findings also show that environmental awareness contributes as much as 78.7% to the usage of recyclable and biodegradable products. This study suggests several strategies to improve the usage of recyclable and biodegradable products. This empirical study validates the theory of planned behaviour (TPB) framework for explaining sustainable consumption in Malaysia.

Among the approaches that have been introduced by the Malaysian Prisons Department is the Parole System which plays an important role in ensuring that prisoners who are released on parole can return to society as a useful person. The main objective of this research is to identify the key elements to the effectiveness of the implementation of the Parole System in dealing with the phenomenon of recidivism among Parolees (ODP). This research is a qualitative research that uses a case study approach through in-depth interviews. This research was conducted in two Terengganu District Parole Offices, namely the Kuala Terengganu District Parole Office and the Hulu Terengganu District Parole Office. This research involved in-depth interviews with 13 parolees (ODP) as research respondents. Sample selection was done through purposive sampling techniques and the data obtained was analyzed using thematic analysis. The research results found that there are 4 main elements to the effectiveness of the implementation of the Parole System in dealing with the phenomenon of recidivism among OPDs, namely, the implementation of regular urine tests, monitoring, moral support from parole officers and drug prevention education programs.

 Abstrak: Pelbagai pendekatan telah dilakukan oleh Jabatan Penjara Malaysia sebagai institusi bertanggungjawab secara khusus dalam pemulihan banduan untuk membantu dalam membina kembali diri mereka agar dapat berperanan semula dalam masyarakat sama ada sebagai suami, isteri, ayah, ibu, anak, pekerja dan lain-lain. Antara pendekatan yang telah diperkenalkan oleh pihak Jabatan Penjara Malaysia iaitu Sistem Parol yang memainkan peranan penting dalam memastikan banduan yang dibebaskan secara parol dapat kembali ke pangkuan masyarakat sebagai seseorang yang berguna. Objektif utama penyelidikan ini adalah mengenal pasti elemen utama kepada keberkesanan perlaksanaan Sistem Parol dalam menangani fenomena residivisme dalam kalangan Orang yang DiParol (ODP). Penyelidikan ini merupakan penyelidikan kualitatif yang menggunakan pendekatan kajian kes melalui kaedah temu bual mendalam. Penyelidikan ini telah dijalankan di dua buah Pejabat Parol Daerah Negeri Terengganu iaitu Pejabat Parol Daerah Kuala Terengganu dan Pejabat Parol Daerah Hulu Terengganu.
