It has great flexibility compared to conventional manufacturing. There are also some difficulties and problems, e.g., because the process stops during production. When the process is restarted, the first layer may be thicker due to technological limitations. In this paper, the effects caused by the presence of these thicker layers were investigated. The possibility of re-melting the layers to reduce porosity were also analysed. A tool steel powder grade 1.2709 was used to produce samples with an increased thickness of melted layers.","PeriodicalId":49472,"journal":{"name":"Strojniski Vestnik-Journal of Mechanical Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2020-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74443005","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To increase the sensitivity of extracted features fed in ELM, a novel feature extraction method is put forward, which takes advantage of the transient dynamics and the reconstructed high-dimensional data from the original vibration signal. First, based on fast kurtosis analysis, the range of transient dynamics of a vibration signal is located. Next, with the extracted kurtosis information, with variational mode decomposition, a series of intrinsic mode functions are decomposed; the ones that fall into the obtained ranges are selected as transient features, corresponding to maximum kurtosis value. Fed by the transient features, a hierarchical ELM model is well-trained for fault classification. Furthermore, a denoising auto-encoder is used to optimize input weight and threshold of implicit learning node of ELM, satisfying orthogonal condition to realize the layering of its hidden layers. Finally, a numerical case and an experiment are conducted to verify the performance of the proposed method. In comparison with its counterparts, the proposed method has a better classification accuracy in the aiding of transient features.","PeriodicalId":49472,"journal":{"name":"Strojniski Vestnik-Journal of Mechanical Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2020-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82913106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The numerical simulation of the FSW process was performed by employing COMSOL software to predict & calculate the distribution of temperature on the various regions of the parent metal and the welded joints. The predicted and FEA simulated results of the distribution of peak temperatures were found to be consistent with the experimental values. In addition to this, a parametric experimental investigation was conducted to identify the most influential process parameter which plays a significant role in the peak temperature distribution during FSW of AZ80A Mg alloy. Linear contributions by the input process parameters of FSW namely, traversing speed, rotating tool speed & axial force on the peak temperature were observed to be 32.82%, 23.58% and 21.76% respectively.","PeriodicalId":49472,"journal":{"name":"Strojniski Vestnik-Journal of Mechanical Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2020-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84232666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The distance deviation and heading angle deviation between the vehicle and the pre-set trajectory are employed as input variables to the controller to control the relative deflection angle of the hinge of the vehicle and the velocity of the sprockets and realize the function of the path tracking control. The effects of two control algorithms are simulated with a RecurDyn/Simulink co-simulation; the results show that the fuzzy proportional-integral-derivative (PID) has a better control effect and precision when compared with the PID method. To verify the effect of the proposed controller, a scaled model test platform that is based on visual navigation is developed. Physical experiments were conducted to show the efficacy of the proposed path-tracking control system, which can effectively track the pre-set trajectory and achieve an optimal control outcome.","PeriodicalId":49472,"journal":{"name":"Strojniski Vestnik-Journal of Mechanical Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2020-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79185694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ejectors have been extensively used, and their analytical models have been widely presented. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, there is a lack of studies exploring the efficiencies of turbofans. The goal of this paper is to compare thermodynamic processes in these devices. Their efficiencies are compared in terms of compression and entrainment ratios. A comprehensive one-dimensional subsonic thermodynamic models of the ejector and turbofan are presented. The quantitative indices are obtained for the same initial conditions expressed as the ratio of differences in enthalpies for ideal compression and ideal expansion. When initial conditions are equal to the numeric value of the combination of the isentropic efficiency of the evaluated components (numerical case 0.16), both devices have the same efficiencies; at lower initial conditions (numerical case 0.10), a turbofan’s entrainment ratio is 1.5 times and compression efficiency 1.25 times higher; at higher values of initial conditions (numerical case 0.28), the ejector is more efficient. Such distinctive characteristics of turbofans and the nature of their variation may correspond to the specific application areas of technological equipment that require certain flow-mixing parameters.","PeriodicalId":49472,"journal":{"name":"Strojniski Vestnik-Journal of Mechanical Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2020-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83011394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, an approach has been made to make the machining process more efficient than ND-EDM with the addition of metallic powder with the dielectric medium to machine EN-31 die steel. Powdermixed near-dry EDM (PMND-EDM) has several advantages over the ND-EDM or conventional electrical discharge machining (EDM) process, such as a higher material removal rate (MRR), fine surface finish (Ra), sharp cutting edge, lesser recast layer, and lower deposition of debris. The output response variables are MRR, Ra, residual stress (RS) and micro-hardness (MH) of the machined surfaces. Further study of the workpiece was performed, and a comparative study was conducted between ND-EDM and PMND-EDM. In this proposed method of machining, the MRR, Ra, and MH increased by 17.85 %, 16.36 %, and 62.69 % while RS was reduced by 56.09 %.","PeriodicalId":49472,"journal":{"name":"Strojniski Vestnik-Journal of Mechanical Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2020-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88113917","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Standard grease added by the manufacturer, while graphite and molybdenum disulphide powder were used for lubrication of the bearings during the measurements. Tests were also carried out to examine the performance of the bearings operating without lubrication. The power of bearing internal friction versus temperature was measured. The lowest bearing internal friction was observed for molybdenum disulphide, whose effective lubricating performance was verified for both types of ball bearings. Graphite powder was almost equally effective with the advantage of being suitable for use in machines that come into contact with food.","PeriodicalId":49472,"journal":{"name":"Strojniski Vestnik-Journal of Mechanical Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2020-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80270518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
