He has done extensive field work among the North American Indian tribes, concentrating particularly on studies of the legal dynamics of primitive cultures. He is the author of: The Political Organization and Law-ways of the Comanche Indians; Man in the Primitive World; and The Law of Primitive Man: A Study in Comparative Legal Dynamics; he is the author (in collaboration with K. L. Llewellyn) of The Cheyenne Way: Conflict and Case Law in Primitive lurisprudence; and (with Ernest Wallace) of The Comanches: Lords of the South Plains. With Professors lesse D. lennings and Elmer R.
