In traditional research the impact process is considered as a single degree of freedom dynamical spring-damping system, however, the calculated contact force is much greater than the actual one. Based on the shortage of the conducted studies, a new dimensionless parameter ωΩ is proposed in this paper, the mass-spring-damped oscillator model (MSDOM) and the new contact theory with the consideration of the sphere mass and ωΩ are established. The correctness of the theoretical model is verified by 3D simulation, and the optimal contact force model is obtained. Furthermore, influence rules of material properties and contact parameters on contact response were studied. The results show that the contact deformation, velocity, piecewise nonlinear contact force and acceleration based on MSDOM and ωΩ are effective to calculate the contact response. The contact stiffness, damping, material properties of sphere and elastic modulus of the plate have different influence on the contact response while the Poisson’s ratio ν2 has little effect on it.","PeriodicalId":49185,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Acoustics and Vibration","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48125312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The exact frequency equations for this problem, subject to energy-conserving boundary conditions, are well-known; however, the corresponding dissipative problem has been solved only approximately, via asymptotic methods. These methods, of course, are not accurate when looking at the low end of the spectrum. Here, we solve for the exact frequency equations for the E-B beam subject to boundary damping. Numerous numerical examples are provided, showing plots of both the complex wave numbers and the exponential damping rates for the first five frequencies in each case. Some of these results are surprising.","PeriodicalId":49185,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Acoustics and Vibration","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41535588","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the PAM and kangaroo leg bone proportions, the bionic suspension structure is constructed by analysing and refining the kangaroo leg structure and functions. The dynamic equations are derived by the Lagrange’s Equations considering the rods system features and an Adams simulation model is built up to study the damping performance and parameter characteristics of the suspension. Moreover, a co-simulation of Adams and Matlab is performed under fuzzy control and PID control. The dynamic response characteristics of the suspension is simulated and analysed under the passive and active modes in the time and frequency domains. The result indicates that the vibration and shock of the vehicle body can be reduced effectively by the proposed suspension in passive, fuzzy control and PID control modes; compared with the passive mode, the damping performance of the suspension is better under the active control. The fuzzy control and the PID control are effective to reduce the suspension transmissibility, especially in the medium frequency ranges, and the two control effects are better than that of the passive mode in most frequency bands. The study result of this paper can provide a reference for the research and development of high-performance bionic suspension.","PeriodicalId":49185,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Acoustics and Vibration","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41808545","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This model will support the quantitative basis for construction of a human middle ear physical model. This 3D lumped model consists of a human ear bone model having a similar working principle as the tiny mechanical structure. The 3D lumped model’s parameters were identified using previous anatomical data, and then constructed via a parameter optimizing process using 16 springs and dashpots that represent the tiny mechanical structure’s five connections. The computational results showed the sensitivity priority of the five connections to the stapes displacement with a variety of sound frequencies. Moreover, a detailed discussion of the five connections’ mechanical properties affecting the magnitude of the stapes displacement was also shown in this paper. As a result of increasing the stiffness in the joint of the middle ear bone connection, the stapes’ vibrational amplitude was increased. However, the magnitude of the value of the four masses reacts in a manner that is opposite to stapes displacement. Some specific frequency ranges of the voice properties to the mass and connector systems are also discussed in this paper. The details of the individual mass or joint activity to the stapes displacement at various frequency ranges are also presented. The model’s behaviors were calculated using the software ANSYS workbench 15.0, Solid works 2017, and the MATLAB R2015a. Our findings provide a relevant reference for related medical research.","PeriodicalId":49185,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Acoustics and Vibration","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48711161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Loose weights attached to an engine’s crankshaft act as tuned-mass absorbers by oscillating at a frequency in proportion to rotational speed. More recently, similar loose masses have been attached to the flywheels of automobile engines. The need to achieve increased power from fewer cylinders, while reducing weight and improving economy, has exacerbated torsional vibration of the drive train. The dynamics of a wheel carrying many centrifugal pendulums of bifilar design has been the subject of a growing literature, but much less has been written about roller-type pendulums and about overall system performance. This paper is a new analysis of bifilar and roller systems and their design requirements. The current state of knowledge about practical design limitations is explained and the need for further research discussed.","PeriodicalId":49185,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Acoustics and Vibration","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67722289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A range of degeneracy was found to obtain multiple choice of resonance frequency by adjusting the length of the elastic blocks neighboring to the longitudinal and torsional vibrators. A template was implemented in between the longitudinal and torsional vibrators to decrease the mutual vibration effect that effectively makes the calculated and actual driving frequency nearly close. Such configuration was instrumental to preserve the expected performance and reduce the trial-and-error design overhaul process of the elastic blocks. Moreover, a dual hybrid motor was easily formed by butting each stator of the two hybrid motors together with a rotor in the middle. Case studies of both single and dual hybrid motors are presented with both simulation and experimental results to demonstrate the structure design and the degeneracy approach. Besides the convenience of structurally combining two single hybrid motors to enhance the output, it was interesting to find out whether the proposed dual hybrid motor can significantly increase either the speed or torque by using different phase control methods. Therefore, using the dual hybrid motor provides a great advantage by providing an option for pursuing higher speed or larger torque output for certain applications.","PeriodicalId":49185,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Acoustics and Vibration","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44220606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This has led to the concept of a double-tuned expansion chamber. In the present paper, the concept of double-tuning is extended to the two-chamber mufflers. The author’s classical Velocity Ratio Algorithm is used here to analyze and design such a muffler. The relevant two-row array is manipulated and simplified to arrive directly at the single most significant term out of the 81 non-dimensional terms constituting the relevant Velocity Ratio. Examination of this single term reveals acoustics of the raised wide-band domes of the TL spectrum of the double-tuned two-chamber (DT2C) muffler vis-a-vis that of an equivalent longer double-tuned single-chamber muffler. Except for a low-frequency trough, its TL curve covers the entire frequency range of interest for control of automotive exhaust noise. It is also shown that the corresponding side-inlet side-outlet (SISO) DT2C muffler configuration has an identically similar wide-band TL spectrum to that of the co-axial muffler configuration. Finally, some guidelines are laid out for designing a DT2C muffler.","PeriodicalId":49185,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Acoustics and Vibration","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44076907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A micro scale open-through dual expansion chamber (ODEC) array package with a continuous transmission loss (TL) in a wide frequency range is proposed to diminish the impact of such noise on the performance of MEMS gyroscopes. An analytical model based on planar wave propagation in stationary air has been developed with the consideration of the thermo-acoustic effect near the inner rigid boundary regarding small scale. Experiments with ODEC groups and control groups (non-ODEC) samples have been conducted to verify the model and compare the performances. The ODECs perform in the manner of low-pass filters and both the experimental and the analytical results exhibit greater TL in the higher frequency ranges as compared to the corresponding control samples. In addition, the resonance effects of the ODEC itself are also experimentally observed to be a key factor in influencing the TL.","PeriodicalId":49185,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Acoustics and Vibration","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45409750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
