Angulobaloghia nabau sp. nov. has a three-peaked female genital shield, which is unique within the genus Angulobaloghia. Angulobaloghia badangi sp. nov. is distinctive by having the female genital shield between the central area of coxae II, its rectangular apical margin, and the sternal shield with oval pits. This study provides the first time-calibrated phylogeny of this complex to date. Fossil-calibrated modelling reveals that the most recent common ancestor of the H. fluviatilis-complex originated in the Oligocene. Phylogenetic and dating analyses show the presence of three monophyletic lineages within the H. fluviatilis-complex, with the H. turcicus-clade as the earliest branching lineage. The diversification and speciation processes mainly started from the Oligocene-Miocene around 24 million years ago and continued during the Miocene. In this study, we tried to link time frames of boundary diversification and appearance of certain species with particular paleogeological events. We found evidence of multiple colonization of Corsica in different phases of its geological history, resulting in the presence of two endemic lineages, H. corsicus and H. cyrnusensis sp. nov., the latter species is described by an integrative approach in this study.","PeriodicalId":48866,"journal":{"name":"Acarologia","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68918338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Striatoppia milii specimens were reared under laboratory conditions at a relative humidity of 80±2% and temperature of 27±2 °C. During the study time, both adult and immature forms of S. milii fed on the microfungus Trichoderma harzianum. The total developmental duration of the life stages of S. milii from egg to adult was 21.4±1.5 days with five active instars: larva, protonymph, deutonymph, tritonymph and adult. Given their nutritional preferences and short development cycle, they might be used in agriculture by improving the process of biodegradation.","PeriodicalId":48866,"journal":{"name":"Acarologia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-02-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45821855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hajiqanbar, Shima Yazdanpanah","doi":"10.24349/fmo4-ewck","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24349/fmo4-ewck","url":null,"abstract":"Predatory phytoseiid mites as biocontrol agents are increasingly used in pest control programs across the globe, and Neoseiulus cucumeris (Oudemans) is one of them, which is a commercially available agent against various pests of greenhouse crops. This generalist predatory mite can feed on different foods and diets, including small arthropods and pollen. Feeding and reproducing on a pollen diet is a considerable characteristic of this predatory mite that facilitates the cost-effective production of large numbers of this predator so-called mass rearing. Therefore, the effects of saffron (Crocus sativus L.) pollen as an alternative food source on development and reproduction of N. cucumeris were determined over 20 successive generations. In addition, the predation ability of the nymphs and adults of N. cucumeris being switched to natural prey, Tetranychus urticae Koch after 10th and 20th generations was evaluated. The shortest and longest developmental time happened in the 1th and 5st generations, respectively. The predator in the 1st and 20th generations had a higher intrinsic rate of increase (r) (0.171 and 0.170 day-1, respectively) than other generations, while the 5th generation had the lowest value of this parameter. The development and fecundity of N. cucumeris was not significantly different when this predator switched to a diet of T. urticae. The results of this study revealed that rearing of N. cucumeris for 20 generations on saffron pollen did not affect the performance of the predator negatively and this alternative food source can be used for the mass rearing of N. cucumeris.","PeriodicalId":48866,"journal":{"name":"Acarologia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-02-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47694451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"农林科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
