 Large chili plants (Capsicun annum L) have been cultivated widely in the homeland, especially the island of Lombok. Because red chili is a necessity that must be present in almost all typical Indonesian cuisine, one of the sub-districts in East Lombok Regency that cultivates large chilies (Capsicun annum L) is Sembalun District. From 2012 to 2014, the level of large chili production tended to increase. This is due to the increase in crop area. In 2012, the harvest area was 78 ha and production was 5,044. In 2013, the harvest area was 163 ha and production was 31,269 kw. In 2014, the harvest area was 303 ha and production was 122,658 kw. However, in 2015, the harvest area increased by 538 ha, but the production of large chilies in Sembalun District decreased by 80,415 kw. In 2016, the harvest area and production of large chili plants in Sembalun District decreased, with a harvest area of 256 ha and a production of 45,174 kw.
 Based on the background mentioned above, the thought arose for researchers to conduct a study entitled Feasibility Analysis of Large Red Chili Farming (Capsicun annum L) in Sembalun Village, Sembalun District, East Lombok Regency (NTB). The objectives of this study are: a). To find out the level of cost and income of large chili farming in Sembalun District, East Lombok Regency. b). To determine the feasibility level of large chili farming in Sembalun District, East Lombok Regency, and c). To find out what obstacles farmers face in large chili farming in Sembalun District, East Lombok Regency.
 This research was carried out in Sembalun District on the basis of consideration because horticultural crops, especially large chili, are most cultivated by farmers in Sembalun District, East Lombok Regency. Of the 6 villages in Sembalun District, 3 villages were chosen intentionally, namely, Sembalun Bumbung Village, Sembalun Lawang Village, and Sembalun Village (purvosive sampling). With consideration or reasons that the three villages have the largest production area or the number of farmers cultivating large chili plants, researchers are interested in conducting research in the three villages in Sembalun District. And the results of further tests with an R/C ratio show that an R/C value of 1.46 means that farming is feasible to develop. R/C indicates that each addition of one input unit will give 1.46 units of output.

Karena cabai merah merupakan bahan kebutuhan yang harus ada untuk hampir semua masakan khas Indonesia Salah satu Kecamatan di Kabupaten Lombok Timur yang membudidayakan cabai besar (Capsicun annum L) adalah Kecamatan Sembalun.
