Unlike traditional networks, network operators in NFV networks must contend with both hardware and software failures in order to ensure resilient network services, as NFV networks consist of physical nodes and software-based VNFs. To guarantee network service quality in NFV networks, the existing work has proposed an approach for the SC-VNFP problem that considers VNF diversity and redundancy. VNF diversity splits a single VNF into multiple lightweight replica instances that possess the same functionality as the original VNF, which are then executed in a distributed manner. VNF redundancy, on the other hand, deploys backup instances with standby mode on physical nodes to prepare for potential VNF failures. However, the existing approach does not adequately consider the tradeoff between resource efficiency and service availability in the context of VNF diversity and redundancy. In this paper, we formulate the SC-VNFP problem with VNF diversity and redundancy as a two-step integer linear program (ILP) that adjusts the balance between service availability and resource efficiency. Through numerical experiments, we demonstrate the fundamental characteristics of the proposed ILP, including the tradeoff between resource efficiency and service availability.","PeriodicalId":48825,"journal":{"name":"IEICE Transactions on Communications","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136053518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accordingly, the number of situations in which sensitive information, such as personal data is handled in wireless communications is increasing, and so is the demand for confidentiality. To meet this demand, we proposed a chaos-based radio-encryption modulation that combines physical layer confidentiality and channel coding e ff ects, and we have demonstrated its e ff ectiveness through computer simulations. However, there are no demonstrations of performances using real signals. In this study, we constructed a transmission system using Universal Software Radio Peripheral, a type of software-defined radio, and its control software LabVIEW. We conducted wired transmission experiments for the practical use of radio-frequency encrypted modulation. The results showed that a gain of 0.45dB at a bit error rate of 10 − 3 was obtained for binary phase-shift keying, which has the same transmission e ffi ciency as the proposed method under an additive white Gaussian noise channel. Similarly, a gain of 10dB was obtained under fading conditions. We also evaluated the security ability and demonstrated that chaos modulation has both information-theoretic security and computational security.","PeriodicalId":48825,"journal":{"name":"IEICE Transactions on Communications","volume":"102 1","pages":"686-695"},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86778366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we first investigate the sensitivity of analog beamforming to subarray spatial separations in widebandmmWave systems using hybrid arrays, and propose optimized subarray separations. We then design improved analog beamforming after phase compensation based on Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequence to flatten the frequency response of radio frequency (RF) equivalent channel. Considering a single-carrier frequency-domain equalization (SC-FDE) scheme at the receiver, we derive low-complexity linear zero-forcing (ZF) and minimum mean squared error (MMSE) equalizers in terms of output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) after equalization. Simulation results show that the improved analog beamforming can effectively remove frequency-selective deep fading caused by beam squint, and achieve better bit-error-rate performance compared with the conventional analog beamforming.","PeriodicalId":48825,"journal":{"name":"IEICE Transactions on Communications","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135702036","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After routinely recording it at two observation points at two locations, we found that momentary upward and downward level shifts occurred multiple times, mainly during daytime. These level shifts were observed at one location. No such signal was sensed at the other location. After producing an algorithm to extract such momemtary level shifts, their statistical properties were investigated. Careful analyses, including assessment of the signal polarity, amplitude, duration, hours, and comparison with actual flight schedules and route information implied that these level shifts are attributable to the interference of direct and reflected waves from aircraft flying at approximately tropopause altitude. This assumption is further validated through computer simulations of BS signal interference.","PeriodicalId":48825,"journal":{"name":"IEICE Transactions on Communications","volume":"1 1","pages":"714-722"},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88191511","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
