It reflects on the measures of engineering talent cultivation in Chinese universities based on the case of \"innovative practical education\" at Tsinghua University. It points out that the integration of \"theory and practice\" in the cognition and practice of engineering education in China is gradually moving towards a meaningful fusion.","PeriodicalId":487863,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Education Review","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135352542","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents an overview of relevant research and practices in the construction of the engineering education discipline, including scientific investigations, disciplinary frameworks, research institutions, research teams, and research methodologies. Additionally, it highlights the key elements for the development and future promotion of the engineering education discipline. These elements are guided by a focused discipline development approach, driven by strengthened curriculum and teaching initiatives, empowered by the cultivation of outstanding research talents, facilitated by the establishment of a diverse teaching staff, and supported by high-level scientific research. Finally, this paper offers future prospects and reflections on the construction of engineering education discipline with distinctive Chinese characteristics.","PeriodicalId":487863,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Education Review","volume":"173 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135351920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, students in engineering disciplines must cultivate the ability to generate imaginary, apply their knowledge, and adhere to norms. In modern engineering education, the emphasis must be shifted to nurturing students' capacity to create imaginary and adhere to established norms, moving beyond traditional knowledge-based teaching. This shift represents an innovation direction in engineering education, with the aim of seamlessly integrating these three facets. Within each of these dimensions of engineering education, some aspects can be clearly articulated, while others remain ambiguous and challenging to convey. As digital education continues to advance, engineering education must increasingly prioritize these elusive elements. Achieving this necessitates the adoption of innovative teaching contents and methods to revolutionize the approach to engineering education.","PeriodicalId":487863,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Education Review","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135351399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
