Two research questions were answered, while two hypotheses were tested. A correlational research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised 47 business educators from three universities in Rivers State. The census sampling technique was adopted due to its manageable size. Two structured instruments (OEFQ and BEJCQ) validated by experts in business education and measurement and evaluation were used for data collection. The reliability index of 0.93 and 0.76 was obtained, respectively, using Cronbach’s alpha. Data were analysed using mean, standard deviation, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation (r). A post-hoc t-transformation test was also carried out to test the significance of the correlation coefficient. Findings from the study revealed a positive and significant relationship between production ergonomics, proactive ergonomics, and Business Educators job commitment in universities in Rivers State. Based on the findings, the researchers concluded that the organisational ergonomics framework is a comprehensive approach that improves workplace ergonomics and further recommended that university management should provide ergonomic tools and equipment that are adjustable and suitable to individual body sizes and capabilities that can help to prevent musculoskeletal disorders and improve overall comfort. Institutions should also establish an ergonomic committee with the responsibility of training faculty members about proper ergonomics as well as conducting regular evaluations of equipment and tools.","PeriodicalId":486962,"journal":{"name":"IIARD INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT","volume":" 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139788417","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The continuous rise in insecurity and deterioration in the economic development in Nigeria call for a concern among researchers and policy makers over the years. Nigeria has witnessed an unprecedented security challenge occasioned by the activities of militants in the South-South region, kidnappers in the south east, violent armed robbery in almost parts of the country, political assassination, ritual killings and more recently activities of Boko Haram in some parts of the northern region especially north east. These social menaces, when put together impinge on the security of lives and property of both Nigerian citizens and foreigners living or even trying to invest in the country. To ensure economic development in Nigeria therefore, the study recommends various measures of curbing security challenges including preventive community policing, human capital development, equitable distribution of resources as well as channeling of resources to frontline sectors of the economy among others. This paper recommend that Federal government should engage peace and conflict resolution experts in dealing with issues concerning Fulani herdsmen and Farmers crises and that ranching method of cattle rearing location across the country while the herdsmen should be given needed training for effective and efficient management of the ranching. Also, effective leadership and good governance as a panacea to solving problems of insecurity, unemployment, poverty, hunger, disease, among other negative indices.","PeriodicalId":486962,"journal":{"name":"IIARD INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT","volume":" 18","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139788639","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two specific objectives were developed, which metamorphosed into four research questions and four research hypotheses. A survey research design was adapted for the study. The population of the study consisted of two hundred and forty-eight (248) staff of manufacturing firms in Akwa Ibom State. The sample size was 153 staff using Taro Yamenes sampling technique. A questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. The hypotheses were tested using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation statistic (PPMC), which was used to test the hypotheses supported by Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS version 23). The result shows that there is a significant relationship between situational awareness and social sustainability (r = 0.847, p 0.001) and that there is a significant relationship between social skills and social sustainability (r = 0.682, p 0.003). Based on the findings, the study concluded that there is a significant relationship between social intelligence and the social sustainability of manufacturing firms in Akwa Ibom State. Thus, the study recommended that manufacturing firms should develop situational awareness by prioritizing the well-being of their employees and implementing welfare programs that promote a healthy work-life balance. They should actively engage with the employees and the local community to understand their needs and concerns. They should develop social skills by maintaining transparent and open communication channels with their employees, customers, and stakeholders to enhance their social intelligence and contribute to social sustainability, which will improve their overall business performance.","PeriodicalId":486962,"journal":{"name":"IIARD INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT","volume":" 100","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139789028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The specific measures of institutional quality include economic freedom, liberal democracy, and the corruption perception index, while economic misery is measured using Hanke’s modified misery index. The datasets obtained from the World Bank, Heritage Foundation, Freedom House, Transparency International, and Carto Institute were analysed using descriptive statistics and the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model, which was informed by the evidence of a fractionally integrated series. The findings showed that economic freedom significantly reduced economic misery in the short run. At the same time, evidence of a significant negative effect of liberal democracy on the misery index was established in both the short and long run. This suggests that deepening the democratic process has the potential to mitigate the economic misery faced by Nigerians through increased employment, a decrease in inflationary pressures and interest rates, as well as robust per capita growth. In addition, it was found that the corruption perception index contributed positively to the misery index. This indicates that the pervasive and systemic nature of corruption traps many Nigerians in miserable economic conditions. Owing to the findings, this paper recommends, among others, that policymakers should strengthen the democratic process and promote economic freedom by prioritising credible elections, entrenching the rule of law, and protecting property rights to mitigate the economic distress faced by Nigerians","PeriodicalId":486962,"journal":{"name":"IIARD INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT","volume":" 68","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139789133","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The dimensions that were used to proxy the independent variable are domestic investment, total exports, interest rate and inflation while real gross domestic product was used to proxy economic growth which is the dependent variable. Data used were sourced from secondary sources which includes; World Bank development indicators for various years and the Central Bank of Nigeria annual statistical bulletin. The Statistical Software employed to analyse the data was the eviews9. The results of the Unit root test show that domestic investment, total exports, interest rate and real gross domestic variables evaluated are all stationary after first difference- I(1)- while inflation rate was stationary at level- I(0)-. The Autoregressive distributed lag was used to analyze data. The results of the Autoregressive distributed lag estimates reveal that in both the long run and short run, domestic investment, total exports, coefficients have positive impact on real gross domestic product in Nigeria and both are also statistically significant at five percent level of significance in the long-run in Nigeria. Since it was found that increase domestic investment and total exports bring about economic growth, the study therefore, recommends amongst others that appropriate trade policies in favour of export expansion should be encouraged. The federal government of Nigeria should make concerted effort towards export promotion policy by encouraging domestic investors to go into more production. In order to achieve this, there is need for the government to reduce interest rate and tax rate.","PeriodicalId":486962,"journal":{"name":"IIARD INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT","volume":"406 18","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139847893","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
