This water area is a site with a high level of recreational load, despite the presence of a nature reserve there, and is also characterized by a rugged coastline, which causes the accumulation of pollution in bottom sediments. The material for the study was samples of the upper layer of bottom sediments, which were taken in the summer of 2021 in the coastal waters of Cape Kazantip (Sea of Azov) with a manual sampler from depths of up to 1.5 m both within the protected area and beyond its borders. Determination of hydrocarbons in bottom sediments was carried out by gas and liquid chromatography in accordance with certified methods. The paper presents new original materials on the distribution of hydrocarbons in bottom sediments in the area of Kazantip peninsula, as well as an assessment of the local level of pollution of marine soils in this area. The ratio of hydrocarbons of different origin in bottom sediments is given. In addition, possible ways and sources of pollution are indicated. As a result of the study, it was shown that the bottom sediments of the coastal zone of Kazantip peninsula are not polluted and the concentrations of the main groups of hydrocarbons are within the range of average values for the Sea of Azov. But, despite this, there are traces of fresh inflows of petroleum hydrocarbons, which can be of both anthropogenic and natural origin.","PeriodicalId":486863,"journal":{"name":"Trudy VNIRO","volume":" 468","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135186380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this work is to generalize data on the content of sex steroid hormones in cyclostomes and fish in connection with the different state of the gonads, as well as on the localization and ultrastructural organization of steroid secretory cells (SCs). Method used : generalization of literature data. Novelty : for the first time, data on the development of SC in the gonads of juvenile fish are presented on the scale of a literature review; changes in their localization and functional activity are shown. Results : Most of the data on the steroidogenic function of the gonads in fish were obtained in connection with the study of sex differentiation (inversion) and sexual maturation (spawning). The issues of the synthesis of sex steroid hormones and their molecular structure, blood levels in various states of the gonads, as well as the localization and ultrastructural organization of SCs are considered. It has been noted that SCs appear in the gonads long before sex differentiation and can be present among stromal, granulosa, and theca cells. In cyclostomes and fish — juvenile protogynous hermaphrodites in the gonads of genetic males, SCs do not appear in the membranes around the oocytes of the previtellogenesis period, which determines their deficiency of estrogen hormones and, as a result, sex inversion. With induced sex reversal, the development of the steroidogenic function of the gonads proceeds in the opposite direction to its natural development: in males, oocytes appear and steroid activity shifts from the stroma of the gonads into granulosa and theca; in females, on the contrary, secretory activity in the follicular membranes decreases and increases in the stroma of the gonads. Practical significance : the results of the analysis will give insight into the nature of sex steroid hormones, their dynamics in the blood, and their role in the implementation of various processes of gonadogenesis and gametogenesis before their practical use in fish farms.","PeriodicalId":486863,"journal":{"name":"Trudy VNIRO","volume":" 45","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135292223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: common methods of ichthyological research were applied to collect and process field data. Data were synthesized in MS Excel, analysis and visualization were carried out in MS Excel and Statistica. Scientific novelty : results of monitoring of pink salmon in the southern part of the north-eastern coast of Sakhalin are presented. Despite the intensive commercial fishery in this area, there are no other data on the dynamics of pink salmon runs, density of breeders on spawning grounds, and biometric characteristics of spawners, except for those presented in this paper. Result: data on the timing of spawning migration, distribution of pink salmon within spawning grounds and degree of occupation of spawning grounds, temporal structure of spawning run; bio-metric characteristics of pink salmon are presented. Assessment of the influence of commercial fishing on the dynamics of spawning run and distribution of pink salmon within spawning grounds is discussed. Practical relevance : the presented data is an integral part of information supply of fishery research of the most widespread species of Pacific salmon - pink salmon, which forms the basis of salmon fishery in the Sakhalin Region. Also, the presented data is applicable for preparation of scientifically-based recommendations for optimizing the fishing pressure.","PeriodicalId":486863,"journal":{"name":"Trudy VNIRO","volume":" 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135292219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Shirshov Institute of Oceanology RAS (Atlantic Branch). Methods used : analysis of long-term data of joint expeditionary research in the open part and coastal zone of the Baltic Sea. Results: owing to the interaction of AtlantNIRO with AB IO RAS in 2018–2022, the continuity of long-term observations has been preserved and the volume of scientific information necessary for assessing the state of the habitat of aquatic biological resources in the Russian sectors of the Baltic Sea has been increased. Modern data on eutrophication and pollution, on distribution of phytoplankton, zooplankton, benthos, as well as the early ontogenetic stages of the main commercial fish have been obtained. The spatial distribution of plankton and benthic communities, including areas favorable for spawning and feeding of fish, has been detailed. A rather high contamination of bottom sediments with radionuclides in certain areas of the Baltic Sea, primarily in the Gulf of Finland, has been found. Practical significance : the implementation of the areas provided by the Agreement between Rosrybolovstvo and RAS, and above all, the participation of AtlantNIRO scientific groups in expeditions in the Baltic Sea in 2018–2022, was a significant addition to the annual research and state monitoring of aquatic biological resources and their habitats conducted by VNIRO in the Baltic Sea.","PeriodicalId":486863,"journal":{"name":"Trudy VNIRO","volume":" 47","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135292221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
