Persistent delusions if held for more than 1 month lead to the diagnosis of delusional disorder (DD) as per the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-5. Very sparse literature is available evaluating the utility of individualised homoeopathic medicine in the same. Methods A 60-year-old man presenting with symptoms of DD was treated during the period of February 2020 to February 2021. Individualised homoeopathic medicine was prescribed. Outcomes were assessed using Psychotic Symptom Rating Scales. Modified Naranjo Criteria was used to assess whether the changes were likely to be associated with the homoeopathic intervention. Results A beneficial result was obtained from Individualised homoeopathic treatment. Conclusion Even though this is a single case report, the recovery of the patient from the suspiciousness is remarkable and there is no relapse of the symptoms. The patient's family life is peaceful now and he was able to rejoin his job.","PeriodicalId":486651,"journal":{"name":"Homoeopathic Links","volume":"20 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141688109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is a case series of five patients suffering from haemorrhoidal disease having intense pain while defecation, swelling around anus, bleeding per rectum, itching in anus and prolapsed internal haemorrhoids which were healed completely by the individualised homoeopathy without any surgical intervention. Haemorrhoidal disease symptom score and a disease-specific short health score were used to assess the symptom severity and improvement in quality of life of the patients, measured at baseline, third and at sixth month of the treatment. The possible causal attribution of the changes was assessed. The cases were reported according to the HOM-CASE guidelines. Homoeopathic medicines such as Acidum nitricum, Aesculus hippocastanum, Lycopodium clavatum, Nux vomica and Thuja occidentalis were found useful.","PeriodicalId":486651,"journal":{"name":"Homoeopathic Links","volume":"15 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140974060","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Patients frequently utilise homeopathy for the flu season and other serious illnesses. Although the use of Baptisia tinctoria (BT) is extensively described in homeopathic literature and in phytomedicine, scientific exploration has never been done. In this study, we have made an effort to understand the anti-typhoidal effect of BT at different concentrations. S. typhi (ATCC 6539) from a freshly prepared stock culture was used in this experiment. We also procured an international strain of Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922 strain) which was taken as control. The antibiotic susceptibility patterns of the isolates were determined by the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method according to the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines and interpretative criteria (National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards 2000) using antibiotic discs (Hi Media Laboratory. Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, Maharashtra, India), namely cefotaxime (30 μg), ceftazidime (30 μg), ciprofloxacin (5 μg), tetracycline (30 μg), chloramphenicol (30 μg), streptomycin (10 μg), ampicillin (10 μg), gentamicin (10 μg), kanamycin (30 μg), nalidixic acid (30 μg) and trimethoprim (5 μg). BT in its 6CH potency showed the greatest growth inhibition zone, not just amidst the homeopathic potency gradient. It has shown the highest growth inhibition zone of 28mm, more than any conventional antibiotic. Ethanolic extract of BT can be considered to combat against array of infections caused by S. typhi species alongside that it can also be considered as adjuvant with conventional antibiotics for better result.","PeriodicalId":486651,"journal":{"name":"Homoeopathic Links","volume":"30 118","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141016753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They appear in various forms on different locations on the skin and mucous membranes, the most common being hands, feet, face and neck. Despite the availability of various treatments, its persistent and recurring nature remains a matter of frustration among the medical fraternity. This case series includes eight cutaneous warts cases treated with an individualistic approach. Each case was prescribed a single medicine as per the cardinal principles of homoeopathy. The cases were assessed through Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homeopathy inventory to attribute the causal relationship of homoeopathic treatment provided for inferring the clinical outcome of cases. In every case, a single dose of the most appropriate homoeopathic remedy in centesimal potency was prescribed, followed by placebo. All cases were followed up for approximately 04-month duration after medication. No recurrence of warts or relapses of symptoms was noticed during the follow-ups. All cases showed marked improvement and the warts were completely resolved. Individualised homoeopathic medicines prescribed for cases were Lachesis mutus, Causticum, Natrum muriaticum, Antimonium crudum, Nitricum acidum, Thuja occidentalis, Sulphur and Dulcamara. Through this case series, we encourage more homoeopathic research on warts including exploratory observational trials and randomised controlled trials.","PeriodicalId":486651,"journal":{"name":"Homoeopathic Links","volume":"304 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140719384","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cardinal manifestations of PCOS include hyperandrogenism, oligo/anovulation and/or polycystic ovarian morphology. Affected women often display notable metabolic co-morbidities. Plenty of evidence on PCOS favouring homoeopathy is available in the literature. In this case, also individualised medicine portrayed a favourable response within a short span of time.\u0000 Case Summary A case of PCOS with the complaint of irregular, delayed menses, acne on the face and dark pigmentation on the neck for the last 3 years is presented here. The outcome was assessed by using two validated measurement scales. After 4 months of follow-up, the case was markedly improved on the Outcome Related to Impact on Daily Living (ORIDL) scale (+4) as per the patient's perspective. Clinical improvement was correlated with objective evidence from the ultrasonography report. Modified Naranjo criteria for Homeopathy (MONARCH) score recorded at the final visit (+8 on the ‘−6 to 13’ scale) is suggestive of a high likelihood of improvement by homoeopathic intervention.\u0000 Conclusion The case report presented here has produced significant evidence of the effect of individualised homoeopathic medicine in the treatment of PCOS within a short time.","PeriodicalId":486651,"journal":{"name":"Homoeopathic Links","volume":"68 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139687258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
