The present study attempts to develop a Structural Equation Model (SEM) for educational loan utility, which springs out of job prospects from the basic factors, namely awareness, adequacy, utilization, effectiveness, and perception of loan financing on the one hand, and defaults in repayments, on the other. The study is posted to an uneven premise of a popular assumption among loanees that education loan is more of an aid and less of a retail product. The proposed model can decipher the research paradigm by delineating how different factors contribute to derive the utility of educational loans. The model articulates a strong tenet that job prospects (precisely with skills gained) and repayment (financial behavior) are the two core elements for the sustainability of the education loan scheme. The present study signifies the need to develop a standardised tool for the selection of potential candidates to assess their employability quotient to improve the quality of financing and is placed in the range of demand-side perspectives of educational loan financing.","PeriodicalId":485298,"journal":{"name":"The Review of Finance and Banking","volume":"109 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136184923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study used camel rating system to measure pre and post adoption performance of commercial banks. The reports says that Indian banks are widely adopted digital financial services during the year 2012-13. Hence, 2004-05 to 2011-12 considered as pre adoption period and 2012-13 to 2019-20 considered as post adoption period for the data analysis. 44 banks were selected for the study based on the data availability. 15 camel ratios were identified and paired t-test used for analysis. The study found that most of the CAMEL (capital adequacy, assets, management capability, earnings, liquidity) variables are found significant to improve the financial performance of banks. The coefficient of digital financial services variables is found to be significant. This indicates that facilities of digital banking could enhance the financial performance of banks.","PeriodicalId":485298,"journal":{"name":"The Review of Finance and Banking","volume":"207 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136186210","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Investment Decision Making (IDM) of the individual investors may be rational or irrational and here the study focused on the irrational IDM. The influence of eight types of behavioural biases and Big five personality traits (BFPT) on irrational IDM are studied along with mediation effect. Significant findings of the study are that BFPT and Behavioural biases pointedly influence public officials' Irrational IDM. Personality traits have a mediating role in behavioural bias and irrational decisions. The results suggest that personality traits and Behavioural biases are key in investment decisions and the investor education and awareness programmes are vital in overcoming the biases and lead to rational decisions.","PeriodicalId":485298,"journal":{"name":"The Review of Finance and Banking","volume":"148 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136255269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper also examines the efficiency of Life Insurers across ownership by comparing Public and Private Insurance Sector. The concrete findings suggest that the overall performance of Life insurance companies in terms of economic efficiencies is not satisfactory. The average cost, revenue and profit efficiency is .527, .402 and .589 respectively which is far less than the yardstick of 1. The highest level of inefficiency subsists on the revenue side, which is in turn reflected in the average of profit inefficiency. Significantly inferior efficiency scores in the Private Sector seem to have marred the average efficiency scores of Insurance sector in India.","PeriodicalId":485298,"journal":{"name":"The Review of Finance and Banking","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136186211","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results indicate that the GST implementation has increased the C-efficiency ratio of the country. Similarly, at the sub-national level, the GST implementation has increased the revenue efficiency for the consumptive and minor Indian states i.e. Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Sikkim and Nagaland. Although, the developed states still have a higher share of total GST revenue in the country, but the adoption of GST will mitigate the inter-state disparity by shifting the revenue streams from the productive states to consumptive and minor states. On the contrary, the stability analysis indicates that the GST adoption has increased the volatility in the revenue of the state governments. The finding of the study has major implications for the state and central governments, policymakers, researchers and the sitting of the fifteen finance commission in India.","PeriodicalId":485298,"journal":{"name":"The Review of Finance and Banking","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136186219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current study examines the validity of Phillip’s curve in the context of the BRICS countries comprises of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa using data from the World Bank database (2020) and analyzed using a random effect static panel regression analysis. We find that the unemployment rate and output negatively and significantly influenced the inflation rate in the BRICS countries, which validates Phillip’s curve. This implies that raising unemployment and output level may likely reduce inflation rate in the BRICS countries. We, therefore, recommend the need for policymakers to choose to either stabilize prices or reduce unemployment. Also, the need for government to reduce inflation by increasing output thereby generating employment for the people. The BRICS countries should focus more on the labor-intensive technique of production to reduce the cost of production, create jobs and reduce prices.","PeriodicalId":485298,"journal":{"name":"The Review of Finance and Banking","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136184922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
