In order to explore the weathering characteristics of the surface layer of landscape wooden buildings, the main causes of weathering were analyzed on the basis of summarizing the common types of weathering characterization. The results showed that the weathering characterization was mainly reflected in the surface defects of wood structures, such as cracking, discoloration, peeling, wind erosion wear, and so on. The coating technology on the surface of constructions was the main artificial factor affecting the surface defects of constructions. In the case of similar surface decoration conditions, sunlight and moisture were the main natural factors affecting the weathering of wooden buildings, which will promote the process of weathering.","PeriodicalId":484256,"journal":{"name":"Journal of architectural research and development","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139959046","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this sense, questions arise about the indispensable attributes that spaces must possess for this articulation to take place adequately. Architecture, as the discipline in charge of satisfying the specific spatial needs of those who inhabit these spaces and, in a broader sense, as a concrete contribution to society, must address this relationship in all its complexity and generate concrete responses that incorporate the appropriate spatial attributes during the design processes. The design processes that shape living spaces confront this dialectic, and the manner in which they do so brings identity and character to them. It is believed that the higher the level of variables that are contemplated and weighted, the greater the adequacy of spaces to the changing dynamics of the people who inhabit them. This article focuses on a thorough analysis of these spatial attributes, in parallel to the definition of each one as a particular condition for design, based on their conceptualization, breakdown, and articulation. Conceptually, the following attributes are addressed: flexibility, adaptability, variability, versatility, multiplicity, plurality, integrality, gradualness, incrementality, progressiveness, independence, connectivity, intimacy, and privacy. Each of these attributes is valued as a contribution to creating adequate habitability in contextual terms, with consideration to possible integrations and combinations.","PeriodicalId":484256,"journal":{"name":"Journal of architectural research and development","volume":"68 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140488223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study integrates high spatial resolution remote sensing imagery with deep learning techniques, proposing a novel method for identifying rooftops of traditional Chinese village buildings using high-definition remote sensing images. Using 0.54 m spatial resolution imagery of traditional village areas as the data source, this method analyzes the geometric and spectral image characteristics of village building rooftops. It constructs a deep learning feature sample library tailored to the target types. Employing a semantically enhanced version of the improved Mask R-CNN (Mask Region-based Convolutional Neural Network) for building recognition, the study conducts experiments on localized imagery from different regions. The results demonstrated that the modified Mask R-CNN effectively identifies traditional village building rooftops, achieving an of 0.7520 and an of 0.7400. It improves the current problem of misidentification and missed detection caused by feature heterogeneity. This method offers a viable and effective approach for industrialized data monitoring of traditional villages, contributing to their sustainable development.","PeriodicalId":484256,"journal":{"name":"Journal of architectural research and development","volume":"36 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140489724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study systematically examines physical, chemical, and biological methods to ascertain their effectiveness in formaldehyde mitigation. Physical methods, including air circulation and adsorption, particularly with activated carbon and molecular sieves, are assessed for their efficiency in various concentration scenarios. Chemical methods, such as photocatalytic oxidation using titanium dioxide and plasma technology, are analyzed for their ability to decompose formaldehyde into non-toxic substances. Additionally, biological methods involving plant purification and microbial transformation are explored for their eco-friendly and sustainable removal capabilities. The paper concludes that while each method has its merits, a combined approach may offer the most effective solution for reducing indoor formaldehyde levels. The study underscores the need for further research to integrate these methods in a practical, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable manner, highlighting their potential to improve indoor air quality significantly.","PeriodicalId":484256,"journal":{"name":"Journal of architectural research and development","volume":"16 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140498293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
