The stabilised approach concept is of great importance for the safe operation of an airline during the approach and landing phases (Acarbay & Kiyak, 2020). The elements highlighted in the approach phases are the runway's dry or contaminated condition and length. In the crew, we analyse their competence, recurrence, and fatigue. Another variable is the type of approach, whether it is precision, non-precision or visual. The external conditions of the aerodrome include obstacles, wind, and wildlife—the type of aircraft, whether light, medium or heavy. Due to the large amount of qualitative information derived from the pilots' experience about risk management in the approach and landing phases, this paper proposes an Analytic Hierarchy Process model (AHP) for threat characterisation and risk analysis to achieve a stabilised approach. The results show that AHP proposed model establishes a new methodology for identifying potential in-flight risks to air operations based on expert criteria, improving the decisions to land at an alternate airport based on qualitative information from expert pilots in the risk management field.","PeriodicalId":483960,"journal":{"name":"Dutch journal of finance and management","volume":"92 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140378059","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
{"title":"The Impact of Risk Management on Lebanese Banks' Performance: A Qualitative Study","authors":"Sahar Alayli","doi":"10.55267/djfm/14239","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.55267/djfm/14239","url":null,"abstract":"This research employs a qualitative technique to examine the complexities of settlement risk in Lebanese banks against the backdrop of the country's volatile economic environment. This study explores many dimensions of settlement risk, including operational, regulatory, and market elements, through comprehensive interviews with five key personnel spanning from risk analysts to senior executives in the banking sector. Given the context of economic uncertainty, political upheaval, and strict international regulations, the banking industry in Lebanon has largely focused on identifying the underlying factors contributing to settlement risk. The respondents provided insight into the management strategies used to mitigate these risks and the ongoing challenges encountered by the banking industry. The findings suggest that Lebanese banks encounter specific obstacles, including but not limited to technology deficiencies, varied regulatory frameworks, and geopolitical volatility. The presence of a complicated risk environment is evident, but it is also apparent that there are internal measures in place to mitigate settlement risks. This study presents empirical data that might be valuable for policymakers, financial analysts, and academic academics to gain a deeper understanding of the intricate characteristics of settlement risk in Lebanese banks. The need to implement a comprehensive and cohesive risk management plan to safeguard the Lebanese financial system is emphasized.","PeriodicalId":483960,"journal":{"name":"Dutch journal of finance and management","volume":"13 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139958413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, much of this inquiry has narrowly focused on the experiences of white, middle-class women, inadvertently sidelining the leadership narratives of women from diverse backgrounds. This study adopts an intersectional lens to explore the intricate dynamics of women's leadership roles in tourism. Intersectionality theory, which acknowledges the complex interplay of social identities such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and class, serves as a pivotal framework for understanding these multifaceted experiences. Through an examination of the relational dynamics within leadership constructs, this conceptual study delves into how intersecting identities shape individual experiences. The study emphasizes the need for a more expansive conceptualization of gender in leadership analysis within the tourism sector. By integrating intersectionality theory, researchers can gain deeper insights into the diverse experiences of women in leadership positions. Moreover, applying an intersectional perspective to women in leadership tourism research illuminates the unique challenges faced by women from marginalized backgrounds, thus fostering a more inclusive understanding of leadership in the tourism industry.","PeriodicalId":483960,"journal":{"name":"Dutch journal of finance and management","volume":"20 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140450353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study is based on a sample size of 127 observations in the context of Lebanon's financial markets. The primary objective of this research is to analyze how risk management practices employed by financial institutions and market participants affect the stability of Lebanon's financial markets. To achieve this, the study employs a quantitative approach, utilizing statistical analysis and regression modeling to assess the relationships between the independent variables (risk management practices) and the dependent variable (financial market volatility). The independent variables in this study encompass risk management practices, namely diversification, hedging, and contingency planning. These practices are crucial components of financial risk management strategies employed by institutions and investors. By examining their influence on financial market stability, this research aims to provide insights into effective risk mitigation strategies within the Lebanese financial context. The decision of Lebanon as the study's context is significant due to the unique economic and geopolitical challenges faced by the country. The financial markets in Lebanon have been subject to various external and internal pressures, making the analysis of risk management practices particularly relevant. The sample size of 127 observations allows for robust statistical analysis, ensuring the validity of the findings. The research findings are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on risk management and financial market stability, with potential implications for policymakers, financial institutions, and investors operating in Lebanon and similar emerging market economies.","PeriodicalId":483960,"journal":{"name":"Dutch journal of finance and management","volume":"80 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139851976","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
