In a recent study patients with abnormal glucose tolerance test and diagnosed with gestational diabetes had less deviation from expected gestational weight gain. Purpose: The aim of our study is to look at the trajectory of gestational weight gain for women diagnosed with gestational diabetes followed at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC) Methods: Our study population included 215 pregnant women with singleton pregnancy diagnosed with diabetes mellitus who attended the obstetrics outpatient clinic and family health clinics from first antenatal visit until delivery. Results: From among the 215 women in the study cohort, the total number of weight gain was 143. The number of patients who lost weight was 48, and the number of patients who remained stable were 24. Overall, the amount of weight gain for women in this study was comparable to the expected. Conclusion: In our study we found the patients diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus have a wide range of changes in their weight gain trajectory from previously expected parameters in the healthy population, which might be explained by other factors like adherence to diet, exercise and medications designed control the metabolism.","PeriodicalId":483238,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Scholarly Research and Reviews","volume":"58 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140362639","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Zakat is based on income and the value of possessions. The common minimum amount for those who qualify is 2.5% or 1/40 of a Muslim's total savings and wealth. If personal wealth is below the nisab during one lunar year, no zakat is owed for that period. One of the most profound aspects of Islam is that it takes human dignity very seriously. Distributing zakat is not handing out charity to the poor. Instead, it is essentially a due for the poor from the rich (the have –nots have a rightful share of the wealth of the rich – Al Quran) In this way, zakat is a powerful tool to help re-circulate wealth to those most vulnerable, many of whom are experiencing poverty at no fault of their own, but due to their unfortunate circumstances, such as lack of access to resources because of poverty, war and other adverse circumstances. Accordingly, zakat may be regarded as a social security system in Islam. Further, zakat means purification and growth as it washes away the greed and the acquisitive orientation of the rich. The main purpose of this paper is to study the Zakah as potential social responsibility for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).","PeriodicalId":483238,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Scholarly Research and Reviews","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140421560","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We present here an innovative therapeutic approach of CAEBV based on the use of ultra-low doses of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) involved in the host-virus interaction. We performed a retrospective study on 26 patients treated with our remedy. All the patients expect one developed positive EBNA IgG within eighteen months of starting treatment. Among the 25 cases that seroconverted, 75% report a significant improvement of their symptoms, especial of chronic fatigue. This study gives the proof of the efficiency of ultra-low doses of ncRNAs in restoring a strong immune response against EBV. More generally, this therapeutic approach can potentially be used in almost all pathologies.","PeriodicalId":483238,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Scholarly Research and Reviews","volume":"71 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140483177","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The harmful use of alcohol ranks among the top five risk factors for disease, disability and death throughout the world. This study was conducted to determine selected haematological parameters among chronic alcoholics in Ilorin. A total of 70 participants with chronic alcoholism and 30 control samples were randomly selected to determine the possible haematological risks of the social behaviour with majority of participants being within the age range 18-65 years. The haematological parameters PCV, haemoglobin, red blood cell, platelet, and total white blood cell counts were determined using the Sysmex XN-300 instrument. The count of reticulocytes was done manually. The mean value of the subject RBC was decreased (3.45±1.25) in comparison with (4.75±0.66) of non-alcoholics. The results demonstrate a decrease in the subject's mean reticulocyte value (0.724±0.820) compared to (2.12±0.81) of the control, but the difference was not statistically significant. This study found that abstaining from alcohol consumption has no significant influence on red blood cell markers, however extensive drinking had negative implications on the immune cells. As a result, a clinical history of drinking during haematological examinations, may be beneficial and advised especially if the findings show a decrease in the number of immune cells.","PeriodicalId":483238,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Scholarly Research and Reviews","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136018430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The number of college graduates has increased significantly over time, while the absorption capacity of the job market is very small. As a result, the open unemployment rate in Indonesia is quite high, reaching 9 - 10% and this includes the educated unemployed, university alumni. To overcome the high level of educated unemployment, it is deemed necessary to foster entrepreneurship among students. There are five main essences in entrepreneurship, namely: (1) a strong desire to work independently, have brilliant ideas, and be optimistic in trying, developing new, unique ideas, of interest to many people, especially in the economic field; (2) the ability to take risks and make decisions; (3) willingness to think and act creatively and innovatively; (4) willingness to work carefully, diligently and productively; (5) work with a spirit of togetherness and healthy business ethics. This research aims for the long term to produce an independent campus business/entrepreneurship model at Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Khairun University. The short-term goal is to produce recommendations regarding student entrepreneurship on independent campuses. This research method consists of 2 stages, namely: stage 1) survey of the independent campus entrepreneurship model; stage 2) is dissemination and policy recommendations related to the development of student entrepreneurship on independent campuses, especially Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Khairun University. The research results show that students at Faculty of Teacher Training and Education have an interest in entrepreneurship and have quite strong self-efficacy as young entrepreneurs with an average presentation of 83%. The resulting recommendation is that there is a need for intensive coaching for students to understand and be able to entrepreneurship in accordance with the interests and needs of the times, namely digital entrepreneurship.","PeriodicalId":483238,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Scholarly Research and Reviews","volume":"117 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136018281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to COVID-19, most assessments were changed to online mode. This sudden transition from traditional face-to-face to online assessment presented numerous challenges for nursing students. As such, this study determined student's perception of online assessment usage for their final semester exam using Interactive Teaching and Learning (ITEL) as their learning management system. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional survey design, with the questionnaire administered via Google Forms. A purposive sampling method was employed to collect data from 165 undergraduate nursing students. The survey link was shared through WhatsApp's instant messaging system. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse the data. Results: The students believed online assessment is helpful in higher education (61.8%). However, only 46% of the respondents consider online assessment relevant to nursing education. Most (54.6%) find nursing education too complicated for online exams. In addition, most respondents (70.9%) are apprehensive about technical glitches that can challenge online assessment. As the method of online assessment, respondents prefer coursework or assignments over written tests (50.9%). The findings also highlighted that the ITEL quiz questions mainly focused on memorising the assessed content (56.4%). However, the students found immediate feedback in the ITEL quiz helpful in the learning process (50.3%). Conclusion: Using less paper and accessing immediate feedback from anywhere is convenient, but there have been some technological issues. Unfortunately, nursing students still hesitate to embrace online assessments due to fears of technical difficulties during exams. Respondents prefer online assessments for formative assessments, while traditional face-to-face exams are preferred for summative assessments. Considering strategies to improve hybrid assessment practices in the post-pandemic era is important.","PeriodicalId":483238,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Scholarly Research and Reviews","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136272535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
