To achieve this objective, we integrate resilience and perceived collective efficacy into the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) framework. We collected data from a sample of 235 people with disabilities and examined the variables included in the TPB, as well as the role of resilience and perceived collective efficacy as predictors of EI. To investigate whether these variables help to explain EI among people with disabilities, we used fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis with theory testing. Our findings highlight the complexity of the entrepreneurial journey for people with disabilities. We show that the components of the TPB are essential in shaping the EI of this population. Furthermore, the inclusion of resilience and perceived collective efficacy complements the need for the other two TPB components (perceived behavioral control and subjective norm). Few studies have examined ways to enhance EI in people with disabilities, and even fewer have examined the variables that influence the presence or absence of EI in people with disabilities. Our study contributes to this gap in the literature, and has important implications for policymakers and practitioners working to promote entrepreneurship among people with disabilities.</p>","PeriodicalId":48058,"journal":{"name":"International Entrepreneurship and Management Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":5.6,"publicationDate":"2023-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138546898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

How to face these challenges is a particularly critical question for individual entrepreneurs who have to assume a much greater responsibility for decisions than in other corporate environments. In this sense, it is very important to understand the financial capabilities and skills and their limitations of this type of entrepreneurship, which is so important for the renewal and extension of the business community in any developed economy. Based on an extensive official survey of this type of entrepreneurship, this research proposes a logistic regression modeling, in order to find out the level of financial knowledge of this business group. One of the findings of this research is that individual entrepreneurs have a higher level of financial knowledge than salaried workers, with a higher qualification in this respect in the case of individual entrepreneurs with employees. This study analyses the link between individual entrepreneurs or self-employed workers – with or without employees – and financial literacy. In addition, we investigated the relationship between this group with their socio-demographic characteristics, financial product holdings, financial planning, and financial fragility. Different binary logistic regression models with maximum likelihood were estimated using a sample of individual entrepreneurs and self-employed workers from the Survey of Financial Competences database conducted in Spain to achieve this. The results of the study show that individuals who choose to be individual entrepreneurs or self-employed, and in particular those with hired workers, had a higher level of financial literacy than salaried workers. Moreover, it was confirmed that financial literacy complements the explanatory power of the other variables analyzed with respect to sole proprietors without employees, although not to a significant degree. The limitations of this work are due to the use of data from the Financial Skills Survey, so some dichotomous variables offer very generic information. In addition, the database is cross-sectional and we cannot analyze variations between different periods. No research before had applied the relationships between the behavior of individual entrepreneurs, with and without employees, and financial competencies using logistic functions and on the basis of a rigorous and comprehensive formal questionnaire. The conclusions provide a valuable perspective for developing training programs for this type of human capital aimed at raising the financial skills of individual entrepreneurs to improve personal and business management.</p>","PeriodicalId":48058,"journal":{"name":"International Entrepreneurship and Management Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":5.6,"publicationDate":"2023-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138520633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we draw upon the largest public policy intervention aimed explicitly at fostering new business start-ups, the Start-Up Loan (SUL) scheme. Since its inception in 2012 until the present day, question whether female start-up entrepreneurs were over-represented in terms of scheme participation, which would be the case if the barriers they face when seeking to start a new business are greater than their male peers. First, the study exploits available secondary data from the Eurostat and Global Entrepreneurship Monitor to determine the participation of females in entrepreneurship during the last decades. Second, we exploit the administrative data of the participants of the SUL scheme between 2012 and 2022 (N = 98,026). Methodologically, the study relies on summary statistical tools and estimation of the Cox proportional hazard models, predicting the loan default rates of the supported individuals across genders. With an average female representation of 40% over the last decade on the SUL scheme, which is significantly higher than in the UK business population, a very positive and unintended consequence of the scheme is that tens of thousands of female entrepreneurs were given the support that, in its absence, may have prevented or discouraged them from starting their new business. Furthermore, females participating in the SUL scheme have lower hazard rates than males.</p>","PeriodicalId":48058,"journal":{"name":"International Entrepreneurship and Management Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":5.6,"publicationDate":"2023-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138520645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study—based on an adaptation of the resource dependency theory (RDT) and the resource base view (RBV) theory—is to explore the relationship between the entrepreneurs′ perceptions of innovation, wine tourism experience, and the development of sustainable wine tourism for Romanian wineries. Data were collected online using a questionnaire completed by 102 entrepreneurs who manage wineries that practise wine tourism. The entrepreneurs′ answers were processed with SmartPLS4 software, and the validation tool was structural equations modelling (PLS-SEM). The findings show that Romanian entrepreneurs know the importance of financing and products and services innovation (WFPSI) for wineries, and rely consistently on wine tourism experience (WTE). The mediating effect of WTE between WFPSI and sustainable wine tourism development (SWT) is also provided. Moreover, WFPSI has a significant effect on the other internal and external innovation activities analysed in the research model: wineries online promotion and sales innovation (WOPSI) and wineries’ collaborations and alliances innovation (WCAI). In the final outcome of our research model, the balance of winery entrepreneurs’ knowledge favours external innovation activities, with WCAI and WTE having a greater impact on SWT than WOPSI. In this vein, the Economy for the Common Good is a sustainability framework based on stakeholders’ management that allows embedding sustainable behavior into business strategy and counts with a version adapted to organizations working at a smaller scale like entrepreneurial ventures and SMEs. Hence, the present study aims to assess the impact of sustainable financial management implemented using the Economy for the Common Good framework on business competitiveness and the possible moderating effects of organizational size on this relationship. To do so, the authors apply hierarchical regression analysis to data gathered from 206 European enterprises that implemented sustainable-driven financial management using the Economy for the Common Good framework.
